Abstract

Purposes of the study are 1) to produce a proper Student Physics Worksheet by using Brain Based Learning approach so it can enhance student physics performance. 2) to find out which performance that are facilitated by the worksheet.The study is development study which adopted 4D development model from Thiagaradjan, Semmel, and Semmel. The procedures include four phases: (1) Defining, which consists of initial analyze, student analyze, task analyze, concept analyze dan formulation of learning purposes, (2) Designing, which consists of conducting criteria, choosing media, choosing type of presentation, dan conducting initial design, (3) Developing, which consists of expert validation and development trial, and (4) Disseminating. Feasibility of learning instrument is judged by expert and reviewed at content, language, and graphic. Data of study are obtained from expert validation, assessment of pretest and post test, and observation of students affective and psychomotor when trial are done at SMAN 1 Mlati Yogyakarta.The result of this study is physics learning instrument as brain based learning student worksheet that enhance student performance. Based on expert judgement, the worksheet has meet feasible criteria with average score 3,5 which is categorized as “very good”. While students responses to the worksheet have obtained score 3,341 which is categorized as “good”. Student preformance also indicated the enhancement of kinematics rectilinear motion mastery with average gain value is about 0,375 which is categorized as “average”. Student affective performance on average by 84% with “very good” criteria. And student psychomotor performance on average by 94% with “very good” criteria.Key words: development, student worksheet, brain based learning approach, student performance.

Abstract

The research was aimed to : 1) producting Islamic Physics Magazine which was worthy to be an alternative self-learning resource in chapter dinamic fluid; 2) knowing the achievements of spiritual attitude growth for Senior High School students; and 3) knowing the achievements of learning motivation growth for Senior High School students via Islamic Physics Magazine. The research used developmental research methode which was used 4D models (Define, Design, Development, Dissemination). Define phase was the first phase of developmental Islamic Physics Magazine learning resource based on the curriculum and learning needs via observation in school subject. Design phase was phase that designed Islamic Physics Magazine and data collecting instruments. In develope phase was done a validation product by expert validator and practition validator, first trial, revision of first trial, second trial, and revision of second trial. The trial was done at SMA Negeri 1 Bantul. The research subject were students of XI MIA 5 and students of XI MIA 7 SMA Negeri 1 Bantul that each of the class consist of 26 students. All of data research were collected using questionaires. The kind of the data collected were qualitative data which was suggestions/comments from validator and student’s responses about media, and the quantitative data which was validator’s score, students’responses score, achievement of spiritual attitude score, and achievement of learning motivation score.The result of the developmental research showed that the product, the Islamic Phisics Magazine, was worthy to develope for alternative of self-learning resource. The worthness was get from the valdation result by two validator that assessed “very good” category to all component. The result of achievements of spiritual attitude was 4,35 score on the first trial and 4,57 score on the second trial that both of it were in “very good” categories. The learning motivation growth was 3,85 skor that was in “good” at the 1st trial and was 4,27 skor a the second trial that was in “very good” category. Abstract

This research was performed with the two purposes below. (1) Discover if there was difference in increasing cognitive and psychomotor achievements between students who were taught by using problem based learning (PBL) through experiment and students who were taught by using direct instruction model with experiment method. (2) Discover the effectiveness of problem based learning model to increase cognitive and psychomotor achievements through experiment activity in Hooke Law lesson.The method of this research was quasi experiment by using pretest-posttest control group design. This research was conducted in SMA Negeri 5 Yogyakarta. The populations of this research are the students of science 11th grade of SMA Negeri 5 Yogyakarta which consist of 6 classes. Sampling technique used cluster random sampling. The classes used in this experiment were 11th science 1 and 11th science 3. The instruments of this research were lesson plan, student worksheet, test of cognitive achievement which consist of two types, i.e. essay test and psychomotor observation sheet in form of rating scale. The data analysis method to test the hypothesis is MANOVA test. The results of this research show the two conclusions below. (1) There was difference in increasing cognitive and psychomotor achievements between students who were taught Hooke Law by using PBL model through experiment activity and the students who were taught by using direct instruction model through experiment method. (2) PBL model through experiment activity was more effective to increase cognitive and psychomotor achievements then direct instruction learning model and experiment method.Key words: PBL model, direct instruction, experiment method, cognitive and psychomotor achievements.

Abstract

Intisari-Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1)mengetahui perbedaan kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa dengan menggunakan model cooperative learning tipe jigsaw dan direct instruction, (2) mengetahui perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa dengan menggunakan model cooperative learning tipe jigsaw dan direct instruction. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian quasi eksperimen, yang menggunakan model cooperative learning dan direct instruction. Populasi dari penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI MAN Yogyakarta III pada tahun ajaran 2014/2015, teknik pengambilan sampel adalah perposive sampling. Terdapat dua kelas yang digunakan untuk sampel yaitu kelas XI IPA 3 sebagai kelas eksperimen untuk model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe jigsaw dan XI IPA 4 sebagai kelas kontrol dengan model direct instruction. Instrumen pretest digunakan untuk mengetahui kemmpuan awal siswa sedangkan instrumen posttest untuk mengetahui kemampuan akhir. Data yang sudah diperoleh dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji t pada progam SPSS 16.0. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) terdapat perbedaan kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi antara siswa yang menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe jigsaw dan model direct instruction. Siswa yang menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Jigsaw mempunyai kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi lebihbesar dibanding siswa yang menggunakan direct instruction. (2) Terdapat perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi siswa yang menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Jigsaw dan model direct instruction. Siswa yang menggunakan pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Jigsaw mempunyai peningkatan HOT pada kategori sedang. Siswa yang menggunakan direct instruction dengan kelompok biasa mempunyai peningkatan HOT pada kategori rendah. Kata kunci : berpikir tingkat tinggi, cooperative learning, jigsaw Abstract-This research purposes to know (1) the difference of high order thinking skill through cooperative learning model with type Jigsaw with direct instruction, (2) the difference of increses of high order thinking skill through cooperative learning model with type Jigsaw and direct instruction. This research is quasi exepriment, were used cooperative learning and direct instructional model. The population of this research are student of MAN Yogyakarta III in XI grade in 2014/2015 school year, this research use purposive sampling. The sample of this reserach are XI IPA 3 as experiment class with cooperative learning type jigsaw and XI IPA 4 as control class with direct instructional. Data of pretest used as initial ability and postest data used as final ability. Data was analyzed by SPSS 16.0 program. The result of research shown that (1) there a difference of high order thinking skill of student between cooperative learning type Jigsaw with direct instructional model. (2) There are the difference of increase of High order thinking of students with cooperative learning with type Jigsaw and direct instructional. Students with cooperative learning with Jigsaw type have a high order thinking skills at middle category. Students with direct instructional model have a high order thinkng skill at low category.Key words: high order thinking, cooperative learning, jigsaw
