Building on the successful legacy of its predecessor, Higher Education in Europe, EJHEAA is establishing itself as one of the flagship journals in the study of higher education and specifically in the study of European higher education. The journal accepts original research articles and proposals for special issues. We strongly recommend that authors consult back issues of EJHEAA for examples of topics of interest to our readership and to ensure that your proposed article is in conversation with any prior articles in the same topic area published in EJHEAA or other higher education journals. The articles that are part of a special issue do not all necessarily have to have an explicit European focus as long as the overall theme of the special issue fits the scope of this journal.

Abstract

Songs are an integral part of learning activities in early childhood. Every part of learning in early childhood often uses songs as reinforcement in conveying messages in learning. The purpose of this study is to find out how the implementation of songs as a means of conveying educational messages for early childhood students. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of this study contain a description of the implementation of songs as a means of conveying educational messages for early childhood students. The conclusion of this study is, songs are the right means of conveying educational messages for early childhood students, because through songs educational messages will be more easily understood and remembered by children at any time.

Abstract

Confidence in children aged 4-5 years should ideally be able to take part in learning without being awaited by their parents, be able to express opinions or wishes, be able to answer teacher questions, be able to carry out good activities related to themselves such as wearing their own shoes, as well as activities related to school, such as being able to write on your own, color on your own, cut and stick on your own. Children who have self-confidence can explore their abilities or potential, because they believe and have confidence in their abilities. Early childhood is a child aged 0-6 years who has development and growth that is more rapid and fundamental in the early years of life. This study aims to increase the self-confidence of children aged 4-5 years at Dharma Wanita Unity Kindergarten, Sidoarjo through role playing by starting with pre-cycle activities, then cycle 1 is carried out by obtaining a percentage of 62%, because the percentage does not meet the completeness criteria, it is carried out cycle II and obtained a percentage of 82% and met the targeted completeness criteria.

Abstract

The focus on find out whether there is an impact on students' ability to write explanatory texts using serial picture media. The respondent of picture series in writing explanation text at SMA Darussalamah for eleventh grade is twenty six respondents. The method is quantitative. The researcher used pre-experimental design. Instruments that used the researcher was pre-test and post-test. In the scoring rubric, the researcher knew that the ideal average value was 44.9 while the ideal standart deviation was 11.91. In addition, their scores in writing were getting better over time. The pre – test’s average value was 38.69; and the post-test was 52.08. Additionally, in pre-test, the standart deviation was 10.85. It means that the final results they got was homogenous because the standart deviation is lower than the ideal. Meanwhile, in the post-test, the opposite happened. Their achievement was various because their average score was higher than the ideal average score. Finally, it can be proved that using picture series had an impact on improving students’s writing skills.
