Abstract

Indonesia is currently experiencing a parallel epidemiological transition, the epidemiological transition can be marked by a change in the pattern of death which is dominated by non-communicable diseases. To overcome this phenomenon, palliative care is needed by the hospital. Palliative care is interdisciplinary and multi-professional care. One of the professions required in palliative service is the profession of social work. This is in appropriate with the Decree of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia No.812 / Menkes / SK / VII / 2007. Palliative service consists of service stages, namely administrative, medical and non-medical services. Administrative services are handled by the hospital administration department, medical services are carried out by the medical team, while non-medical services are handled by psychologists, volunteers and social workers. This study has a purpose to describe the role of social workers in palliative services. This research use desciptive qualitative approach. In determining the location using the purposive area technique and the determination of informants using purposive sampling technique. Data collection was carried out by interview, observation and documentation. The data analysis technique was performed using the Miles and Huberman model which was carried out through data accumulate, data reduction, conclusions and verification. The results showed that the role of social workers needed in palliative services is the role of providing social support to patients and their families, helping patients and families to overcome financial problems, and playing a role in restoring social functioning of patients. The role in providing social support can be seen from how social workers also assist patients and their families and provide awareness of the importance of family roles for patients. The role in overcoming economic problems is to become a broker between patients and funding aid agencies. The role in restoring the patient's function is by providing motivation, understanding, and strengthening to the patient that he is valuable and very meaningful to his family and providing knowledge to the patient's family so that he continues to provide opportunities for patients to play a role socially according to the patient's condition.

This research uses qualitative methods with a descriptive approach. The informants in this study included 6 children and 2 caregivers. The data collection techniques used in this study were in-depth interviews and documentation studies. Data validity checks were also carried out through source and time triangulation. The data analysis technique was carried out through data reduction, data presentation, and concluding. The results showed that the coping strategies carried out by the children were classified as good because they carried out two types of coping, namely strategies focusing on problems and strategies focusing on emotions, but there were still problems with strategies that focused on problems, namely the children did not have the initiative to express problems to caregivers and there was no media available group meeting to reveal the problems of losing parents. Besides, there are also problems in the strategy to focus on emotions, namely that children choose not to express the emotions they feel, there is still a rejection of the loss of their parents, and feelings of inferiority that are still possessed by children who have experiences of losing their parents. Based on these problems, the researchers formulated an empowerment program for groups of children who had experiences of losing their parents.

Abstract

This study aims to describe innovations of social work practices in children's social services carried out by social workers during the Covid-19 pandemic at the Child Social Rehabilitation Institution in West Java. This research was conducted qualitatively with the data collection techniques such as interviews, focus group discussions and documentary studies of social worker reports while paying attention to the health protocol. The informants involved in this study were five social workers at the Social Rehabilitation Center for Children who need Special Protection (PRSAMPK) in Subang and Garut. The results showed that there were innovations made by social workers in handling children during the COVID-19 pandemic in the assessment process, intervention planning, intervention implementation, evaluation and termination. However, social workers still have obstacles in optimizing innovative social work practices in providing social services during the Covid-19 pandemic. These obstacles include the increased frequency of workloads in handling children because the clients are in the instisutuion, the limited number of social workers and supporting facilities for children's activities. The results of this study recommend that social workers begin to record their findings and successes in developing their innovations, so that they become learning materials for other social workers. Evidence best practices of social worker becomes a model in handling children during crisis situations in institutional settings.

Abstract

The objectives of the research were to examine the experiences of groups of men and women on Sodong Village RW 15 and RW 16, Kertajaya Village, West Bandung Regency in decision making and access to cash social assistance for COVID-19 and to analyze various factors that affect their relative participation using the framework. interectionality analytic work. The research method used is in the form of qualitative methods using primary data through semi-structured interviews, FGDs and informant observations. The results showed that men and women have a significant gap in accessing health system information and social protection. The role of women is identified as a passive group in their participation. This indicates that women's groups only know about decisions that have been taken, or only attend meetings and listen to decisions. The narrative of marginalization and domination appears in this study, this is driven by a variety of cross-cutting factors such as gender, education, age, wealth, meritocracy and personality. The characteristics of marginalization in the findings of this study vary depending on the combination of sources of marginalization itself, such as someone who is elderly, uneducated, female, and poor is more marginalized than someone who is uneducated and poor but male. The more factors a person has of the character of marginalization, the greater their exclusion in accessing information on the health system and social protection of COVID-19 as a whole. This study also reveals that women experience a higher level of gender-based discrimination, especially because women are part of the dominant patriarchal system.
