Abstract

Mathematics problem solving ability is important in learning process. But in the reality, students mathematical problem solving ability is still low. Effort that can be used are implementing Discovery Learning (DL) model. The purpose of this study is to analyze and describe the mathematical problem solving ability who learn to use DL model is better than the mathematical problem solving ability who learn to use conventional learning. This type of research is quasi experiment with Randomized Control Group Only and descriptive research. The population is student of class VIII SMPN 1 Padang Panjang with sample of class VIII B and VIII C. The instrument used was a test of mathematical problem solving ability. Based on the result , it can be concluded that the mathematical problem solving ability of student who learn with DL model is better than student who learn with conventional learning. Keywords __ Mathematical Problem Solving Ability, Discovery Learning, Saintific Approach, Student Worksheet

Abstract

Understanding the concept is a basic ability that must be possessed by students in learning mathematics. Low understanding of mathematical concepts will greatly affect student learning outcomes. The application of the Cooperative learning model Numbered Head Together (NHT) type can be applied as an effort to improve understanding of mathematical consepts. The purpose of this research is to describe theoretically whether the cooperative learning model NHT type can improve students’ understanding of mathematical consepts and how the NHT type cooperative learning model NHT type can improve students’ understanding of mathematical consepts. This type of  this research is study of literature where data collection is done by tracing sources related to the topics discussed both from textbooks, journals and other sources. The conclusion of this literature study is theoretically the cooperative learning model NHT type can improve students' understanding of mathematical consepts. The application of NHT learning stages can support learning activities so that it can help improve students' understanding of mathematical consepts which can be seen from the achievement of concept understanding indicators.

Abstract

Based on the results of preliminary research at grade VIII SMP in the field, most of the mathematics learning outcomes of grade VIII SMPN 25 Padang students have not been completed and students are not active during the mathematics learning process at school. One of the factors is the not optimal learning tools used by educators. From that case, to be underlying to do development  learning tools of mathematics, there are plan lesson plan  (RPP) and student’s  worksheets (LKPD)  on  Pair Checks cooperative learning mode, which can provide learning experiences and have a good potential effect on student learning activities. during the learning process. Data were collected through observation, teacher interviews, and valid research sources. The subjects of this research are students grade VIII SMP. This research is a development research used plomp mode  consists of phase preliminiary research,  prototype phase, and  assessment phase. Based on the data analysis result, it was showed  that the learning equipment  based on  Pair Checks cooperative learning mode has fulfilled valid criteria in terms of content and construction, and has fulfilled practical criteria in terms of  implementation and efficiency of time use based on student questionnaires. Keywords __ Pair Checks, development, learning devices

Abstract

Abstract – One of the basic abilities in mathematics is problem solving ability. But in the reality,   students mathematical problem solving ability is still low. One way to improve it is to apply Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. The purposes of this study is to analyze and describe the mathematical problem solving ability who learn to use the PBL model is better than the mathematical problem solving ability who learn to use conventional learning. The type of research is quasi experimental with Randomized Control Group Only Design and descriptive research. The study population was student of class VII SMPN 2 Kota Solok with a sample of class VII 8 and VII 9. The instument used was a test of mathematical problem solving ability. Based on the results obtained from the data analysis, it can be concluded that the mathematical problem solving ability of students who learn with PBL model is better than students who learn with conventional learning an the development of mathernatical problem solving ability of students learning with PBL model also increases. Keywords – Problem Based Learning, Mathematical Problem Solving Ability

Abstract

Understanding mathematical concepts of students in class XI MIA SMA 1 Koto XI Tarusan is still low, this shows via the mathematical results of the tested concepts. The solution  to this problem is found in Two Stay Two Stray cooperative learning model (TSTS). The study aims to describe the understanding of mathematical concepts of students who learn using TSTS better than students who use conventional learning. The study describes the development   of  students mathematical understanding of concepts during the implementation of TSTS in class XI MIA SMA 1 Koto XI Tarusan. This type of quasi-experimental research uses the non-equivalent posttest-only control group design. Research data were collected through quizzes and tests of students' understanding of mathematical concept skills. Data analysis using t-test. The result analysis state that the development of understanding mathematical concepts by students has increased while using TSTS. Based on the results of hypothesis testing, it appears that understanding mathematical concepts of students who use TSTS is better than students who use conventional learning. Keywords —Two Stay Two Stray, Mathematics learning,  Mathematical concepts

Abstract

Mathematical communication skills of grade XI IPA Adabiah Padang high school students are still low. This is because the learning process is not optimal in improving students' mathematical communication skills. One effort that can be done to improve students' mathematical communication skills is by applying the formulate Share Listen and Create (FSLC) cooperative learning model. The purpose of this study was to investigate whether the mathematical communication skills of students who learn to use the FSLC type of cooperative learning model are better than the mathematical communication skills of students who learn with conventional learning.Keywords — Formulate Share Listen and Create, Mathematical Communication Skills.

Abstract

Various of studies indicate that mathematics learning achievement of Indonesian students is classified as low. The main factors causing this issue are passive teaching-learning process that related to the low  understanding of student’s mathematical concept.  The purpose of this article is written to examine the influence of learning model type think pair square on activeness and understanding of student’s mathematical concept. The methods of data collection used in this article are to search and review the relevant journals after that process the data. Abstract

Mathematical concept understanding must be owned by students as the basic ability of learning mathematics. But, the truth showed that  students’ mathematical concept understanding of  eleventh graders SMA Negeri 3 Padang were low. Based on observation result, the application of learning in school tended to be teacher center, so they were not involved actively in learning activity. Then, it needed a model that can  actively involve students in learning activity. The solution was implementing Discovery Learning model as a model to train them constructing their own mathematical concept understanding. The goal of  this research was to compare the difference between mathematical concept of students who learned by using discovery learning model and who learned conventional learning. The type of research was quasy experiment with Randomized Control-Group Only Design and use test of mathematical concept understanding as a instrument. Based on hypothesis result that mathematical concept understanding of students who learn by using discovery learning model is better than who learn by using conventional learning. Abstract

Mathematical communication skills are very important in leaming mathematics in schools, because mathematical communication skills are one of the abilities that every student must have and are also a tool that can be used to solve problems, especially math problems. The purpose of this study was to describe the mathematical communication skills of high-ability students, medium-capable students, and low-ability students in solving math problems in class VII SMP Negeri 31 Padang for the 2019/2020 academic year. The subjects of this study were 31 students of class VII-5 SMP Negeri 31 Padang. The data used is the result of an assessment of the student's answer sheet on the daily assessment of the linear equation and inequality material for one variable using a rubric for indicators of mathematical communication skills. Students' mathematical communication skills are measured based on indicators of mathematical communication skills, namely (1) expressing mathematical ideas in writing; (2) explain mathematical ideas, strategies, situations and relations in writing using algebra; (3) use complete sentences, symbols, tables, diagrams or other media to clarify the situation or problem. The results show (1) The most prominent indicator for highly skilled students is the first indicator, while the least prominent indicator for highly skilled students is the third indicator; (2) The most prominent indicator for moderately capable students is the first indicator, while the least prominent indicator for highly skilled students is the third indicator; (3) The most prominent indicator for low-skilled students is the first indicator, while the least prominent indicator for highly skilled students is the second indicatoKeywords - Mathematical communication skills, Mathematics

Abstract

Understanding mathematical concept is one of expected of learning mathematics in junior high school. According to result of observations  in SMPN 1 Harau, understanding mathematical consept in class VIII is still can be improve. One of the causes of the low understanding mathematical concept by students is that the learning model applied does not actively involve students to build knowledge. Moreover, learning from home requires students to be active in developing concept independently existing learning resources. One of the models that can be applied is the type of cooperatife learning model type Team Assisted Individualization. Beside that, during learning with that model, videos are also used as learning material . Based on result and quizzed, it was concluded that understanding the mathematical concepts of students learning after applying cooperative learning model type Team Assisted Individualization is better than another students learing without that model in class VIII SMPN 1 Harau.Keywords—Understanding of Mathematical Concept, Team Assisted Individualization, Online Study, COVID-19
