Abstract

Mathematical problem solving skill is one of the goals of mathematics learning that must be achieved by students through the process of learning mathematics. But in fact learning activities in schools are not optimal in facilitating students to improve mathematical problem solving skills. One effort to overcome this problem is to apply the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. The purpose of this study is to describe whether the mathematical problem solving skills of students who learn by using the PBL model are better than students who learn with direct learning model. This type of research is quasi-experimental with the Randomized Control Group Only Design research design. Based on the results of data analysis, it was concluded that the mathematical problem solving skills of students who learn to use the PBL model are better than students who learn with direct learning model in class XI SMAN 7 Padang.  Keywords – Mathematical Problem Solving, Problem Based Learning Model, Direct  Learning Model

Abstract

Understanding the concept becomes the main basis in the achievement of learning mathematics. However, mathematics learning at SMPN 1 Enam Lingkung has not shown ability to understand students mathematichal concepts. Therefore, a apply the Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) cooperative learning type model to see its effect on understanding of students in mathematical concepts.  The research type used is a quasi-experimental study and the posttest only design with nonequivalent groups. Based on data analysis using t-test, it can be concluded that the understanding of the concepts of students who learn with the Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) model is more good than students who learn with the direct learning model in class VII SMPN 1 Enam Lingkung. Keywords– Teams work, Understanding Mathematical concepts, Student Teams Achievement Divison (STAD) Model, Mathematics Learning

Abstract

Mathematics problem solving ability is important in learning process. But in the reality, students mathematical problem solving ability is still low. Effort that can be used are implementing Discovery Learning (DL) model. The purpose of this study is to analyze and describe the mathematical problem solving ability who learn to use DL model is better than the mathematical problem solving ability who learn to use conventional learning. This type of research is quasi experiment with Randomized Control Group Only and descriptive research. The population is student of class VIII SMPN 1 Padang Panjang with sample of class VIII B and VIII C. The instrument used was a test of mathematical problem solving ability. Abstract

Achievements/objectives of mathematics subjects include mastery of understanding mathematical concepts that students need to have. In fact, the ability of class IX students of SMPN 43 Padang in this regard is still relatively low. The cause of this is learning that is still focused on educators. To overcome this, the TAI type cooperative model in learning can be used as a solution. Quasi-experimental is a type of research that uses a Randomized Control Group Posttest Only Design. Meanwhile, 87 students in class IX SMPN 43 Padang make up the population. In selecting sample, the researcher used a simple random sampling method. Class IX.1 was chosen as the experimental class and class IX.3 was chosen as the control class. Based on the hypothesis test with a significant level of ???? = 0.05 and obtain a P-value = 0.000. This can be interpreted as a P-value < ???? = 0.05 causes to be rejected. This research concludes that the ability to understand mathematical concepts of students who study with the TAI cooperative learning model is better than students who learn with the conventional learning model in class IX SMPN 43 Padang.Keywords – The cooperative learning model, team assisted individualization, Ability to Understand Mathematical Concepts.

Abstract

Mathematical problem solving skill is one of the objective of mathematics learning that is expected to be possessed by students. Practically, in SMA N 7 Padang, it shows that the competance of learners is not optimal. This conlusion is led from observation and interviews to math teachers. It is caused by the applied learning process does not fully facilitate learners to improve their skill. Therefore, new model of learning activity is required. One of the applicative model is problem based learning. The Objective of this experiment is to asses the ability of learners on mathematical problem solving whose utilizing problem based learning model and compare it with learners whose studying conventional learning program in class XI MIA SMA N 7 Padang school year of 2017/2018. Based on data analysis, it shows that mathematical problem solving ability of the learners by implementing problem based learning model is better than students implimanting conventional learning program in class XI MIA SMA N 7 Padang school year of 2017/2018. Abstract

The first step in learning mathematics is to understand mathematical concepts.Understanding mathematical concepts provides students with a solid foundation for developing other fundamental skills such as reasoning, communication, connections, and problem solving. In fact, students at SMP Negeri 1 Padang Ganting continue to have a poor understanding ofmathematical concepts.This can be seen during observation and in the low scores of students' daily tests, which contain indicators of mathematical concept understanding.The Team Assisted Individualization (TAI) cooperative learning model is used to solve this problem.The goal of this study is to describe the understanding of students' as well as to compare the understanding of mathematical concepts of students who study with the TAI.The research design is quasi-experimental and descriptive, utilizing a Static Group Design.The study's participants were SMP Negeri 1 Padang Ganting class students in the 2021/2022 academic year.Class VII.A served as the experimental class, whereas class VII.B served as the control class.The instrument used in this study is a test of mathematical comprehension.During the study, the outcomes of quizzes were used to describe the growth of mathematical concepts, while the final test was analyzed using the t-test.The final test analysis P-value of 0.046 less than , indicating that students who study using the TAI type cooperative learning model have a greater knowledge of mathematical topics than students who learn using direct learning models. Keywords–team assisted  individual, Pembelajaran Langsung, Pemahaman Konsep Matematis

Abstract

Teaching materials are very important supporting media in learning, one of whichis Student Worksheets. In addition to the teaching materials, the model used must also be in accordance with the chacracteristics of students. The purpose of this study is to develop student worksheets based on Brain Based Learning (BBL) on one of the mathematics materials, the system of two-variable linear Equations for class VIII of the Junior High School. The model used in this study is the plomp development model. Based on the validity analysis results, the validity percentage is 88,75% with a very valid category. Whereas, pracricality test results obtained 88,54% in the very  practical category. Based on the results obtained, it can be concluded that the student worksheets based on brain based learning on the system of linear equations in two variables material for class VIII of junior high school are valid and practical. Keywords– Brain Based Learning, Student worksheets, Junior High School, The System of Linear Equations in Two Variables

Abstract

Interactive learning media is a supporting tool in the learning process to make it more interesting. Interactive media is very helpful for students in understanding learning material and developing students' critical thinking skills. This study aims to develop constructivism-based interactive learning media on matrix material in class XI SMA Negeri 7 Padang which is valid and practical. The type of research used is a Plomp model development research which consists of three stages, namely the preliminary stage, the making of the prototype and the assessment stage. Based on the validation results obtained on the aspects of the feasibility of content, language and media for constructivism-based interactive learning media has a validity level of valid category. Based on the practicality results obtained from trials with three students to use constructivism-based interactive learning media, it has a practicality level of very practical category. Abstract

This study aims to develop Student Worksheet (LKPD) based on the Think Pair Square type of cooperative model on rectangles and triangles material for students of class VII JHS which are valid and practical. This development research uses the Plomp model which consists of three stages, namely the Preliminary Research Phase, the Development or Prototyping Phase, and the Assessment Phase. Based on the results of data analysis, it shows that student worksheets based on the Think Pair Square type of cooperative model on the material of rectangles and triangles in terms of content feasibility, the Think Pair Square cooperative model, language, presentation and graphics have a validity level of 83.33% with a very valid category. LKPD also met the practical criteria from the results of the questionnaire responses of three students who had carried out the One-to-One Evaluation with a percentage of 91.48%. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the student worksheets based on the Think Pair Square type of cooperative model on the material of rectangles and triangles for grade VII junior high school students can be declared valid and practical. Abstract

Especially for students, communication skills are one of the most important aspects of the 21st century. Developing mathematical communication skills is an important part of learning mathematics. This skill is the focus of the study. Based on the results of the first test of mathematical communication skills and the results of the interviews conducted in Class IX SMPN 7 Padang, these students’ skills still need improvement. For this reason, the REACT model was used to compare the mathematical communication skills of students who implemented REACT learning with those who implemented conventional learning in Class IX SMPN 7 Padang. The research uses the type of research quasi experimental design with the research design is static group design. The population in this study was all the students in Class IX SMPN 7 Padang, and the sampling was done using simple random sample. The final essay test was given to both sample classes in order to compare the students’ ability levels.  for data analysis using t-test. Therefore H0 is rejected. Students taught using REACT have better mathematical commmunication skills than students taught conventionally.Keywords– Mathematical Communication Ability, REACT Learning Model, Conventional Learning Model
