Abstract

The focus of this study is to explain the immanence and transcendence of Petara Raja Juwata as the highest form of the Dayak Desa of West Kalimantan. The idea of the Dayak people of West Kalimantan knowing the Supreme Being arises from the human imagination that connects the events experienced with a force that rules the universe. The important thing about this Supreme Being is that this nature does not exist from itself but that there is something that creates it. The Village Dayak people call this Supreme Being as Petara Raja Juwata. Petara Raja Juwata is a center and a “religious” experience. Reli[1] gious life is a theophanic experience that affects all human life. Petara Raja Juwata is real, full of power, the source of all life and energy. Petara Raja Juwata is truly transcendent, a reality that does not belong to the world even though it is manifested in and through the world. Petara Raja Juwata is also essentially ambivalent, enchanting and frightening at the same time, the cause of life and death. Petara Raja Juwata is also approachable, He is immanent. He is close, lives and is involved in the daily life of the Desa Dayak people. This paper aims to describe, analyze the concept of Petara Raja Juwata as transcendent and at the same time immanent. The author uses a phenomeno[1] logical analysis methodology in the perspective of Valentinus Saeng in his presentation of the Mualang Dayak religion in myth. The type of research used is a qualitative research method. The findings in this study are that the Desa Dayak people in West Kalimantan are aware that Petara Raja Juwata as the Supreme Being of the Desa Dayak people is both immanent and transcendent.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the challenges and opportunities of the Asian Church in the context of developments in information and communication technology and the Covid-19 pandemic. This research departs from the awareness of researchers that human life today cannot be separated from the presence of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as a means to support various daily activities. The high intensity of the use of this facility shows that this technology has occupied a central role in human life. The Catholic Church in Asia today is also faced with this reality. The duties and responsibilities of someone who has received the gift of baptism (sanctify, preach and serve) should be carried out in the use of ICT. This article focuses on the discussion of ICT which is a challenge for the Catholic Church in Asia during a pandemic, apart from other contexts that it is also facing (the encounter of cultures, religions, and marginalized groups). This research uses a descriptive-qualitative research method. Data are collected from Catholic Church documents as primary data and reputable journals as secondary sources. This research found that fake news (hoaxes) hate speech and narcissistic tendencies are the main challenges in the use of ICT today. However, ICT provides many opportunities for the Catholic Church in Asia to voice the Good News with preaching, sanctification, and service through existing media.

Abstract

This study discusses religious moderation in Indonesia from the perspective of the Triune God according to Leonardo Boff. The contribution of this study is the contribution of the values of the Triune God according to Leonardo Boff for religious moderation in a pluralistic Indonesia. This study is a qualitative descriptive and utilizes a literature review method on religious moderation and Leonardo Boff’s books. This study finds that the Triune God according to Boff can be a model or inspiration for religious moderation in Indonesia today. Boff describes the communion of the Triune God with the terminology of perichoresis which describes the meaning of dwelling together, being together, and permeating each other between the Divine Persons of the Triune God. Perichoresis can be applied to the values of religious moderation that reflect brotherly relations, teach everyone to respect the differences between each other, heed the attitude of sharing feelings, justice for minorities and the majority, and uphold tolerance. This fellowship also invites others to unite with Him, which is relevant to Indonesia’s motto, Bhinneka Tunggal Ika.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between ecology and the religious identity of the Dayak Bahau people in the Hudoq. Between humans and nature, there is an inseparable link. When we talk about the Dayak people, at the same time we are talking about nature. It is from nature that the Dayak Bahau people find their identity. When modernism enters and pervades development that is not environmentally friendly, an ecological crisis occurs. A crisis of identity and meaning ensued. The methodology of this research is a literature review by reading, describing, analyzing and making implicative reflections. The purpose of this research firstly is to invite everyone, in particular, to return and search for identity in local culture, in the context of Hudoq. On the other hand, from the perspective of Laudato Si the Apostolical Letter of Pope Francis, life transformation is needed when dealing with the development of science and technology which is often misused to exploit nature and human culture. All people are invited to build a life of integrity, namely knowing their identity and growing in prosperity.

The tipycal contribution of this paper is all humans, especially Dawanese, must to have the will of working. Not only for eating and drinking, more than that, working must be in a harmony with a holistic self-realization and a time when humans can unite and relate to the natural surroundings
