Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to explore the role of midwifery practices in promoting maternal and neonatal health, emphasizing the impact of midwifery-led care models, cultural competence, and the integration of midwifery into national health systems. Research Design and Methodology: The research employs a qualitative design, utilizing semi-structured interviews and focus group discussions with midwives, healthcare providers, policymakers, and community health workers in low-resource settings. Thematic analysis was used to identify key themes and patterns within the data. Findings and Discussion: The findings indicate that midwifery-led care models significantly improve maternal and neonatal outcomes by providing continuous, personalized support, which reduces unnecessary medical interventions and enhances maternal satisfaction and emotional well-being. The study also underscores the importance of cultural competence in midwifery, as culturally sensitive care builds trust and improves health outcomes. Integrating midwifery into national health systems, supported by appropriate policies and resources, is crucial for achieving better maternal and neonatal health outcomes. The research highlights the need to address socio-economic barriers that hinder effective midwifery care in low-resource settings. Implications: The study provides valuable insights for policymakers and healthcare providers, emphasizing the need for supportive policies, adequate resources, and continuous professional development for midwives. Countries can enhance maternal and neonatal health outcomes by integrating midwifery services into national health systems and fostering cultural competence. The findings also suggest areas for future research, including the need for more diverse settings and mixed method approaches to provide a comprehensive understanding of midwifery practices.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Fe tablet supplementation on increasing hemoglobin levels in pregnant women at Puskesmas Dahlia Makassar. Research Design and Methodology: The research method used was a Cross-Sectional Study, with data observation at one point. The study sample consisted of 35 pregnant women divided based on compliance with taking Fe tablets. Data were analyzed using the Chi-square test to determine the significance of the results. Findings and Discussion: The results showed that 91.7% of pregnant women who regularly consumed Fe tablets experienced increased hemoglobin levels, while only 27.3% of irregular pregnant women experienced an increase. This indicates the significant effectiveness of Fe tablet consumption in increasing hemoglobin levels. This finding also indicates that non-compliance and other health factors, such as infection, may affect the outcome of supplementation. Implications: This study has significant value in providing empirical evidence on the importance of adherence to iron supplement consumption and the need for a holistic approach that includes nutrition education and infection control. The originality of this study lies in its focus on pregnant women at Puskesmas Dahlia Makassar, providing local data that is valid for health policy. Limitations of this study include the cross-sectional design, which cannot determine cause-and-effect relationships, and the limited sample size. Further research with a longitudinal design and larger sample is recommended to confirm these findings and explore other factors that influence the effectiveness of iron supplementation.

Abstract

Purpose: This study investigates the implementation and impact of evidence-based practices (EBPs) in nursing care for chronic diseases, focusing on their effectiveness, variability across healthcare settings, and the role of training and professional development. Research Design and Methodology: Employing a mixed-methods design, this research integrates quantitative and qualitative approaches. A cross-sectional survey gathered data from nurses, patients, and healthcare administrators across urban and rural settings. In-depth interviews and focus group discussions provided qualitative insights. The sample included 300 participants for the survey and 50 for qualitative analysis. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics and thematic analysis. Findings and Discussion: The study found that EBPs significantly improve patient outcomes in managing chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and COPD. However, variability in EBP implementation was noted, particularly between urban and rural healthcare settings, due to differences in resources and support. The research highlighted nurses' critical need for comprehensive training and continuous professional development. These findings support the hypothesis that EBPs enhance patient outcomes and align with theoretical frameworks such as the Chronic Care Model. Implications: This study contributes to scientific knowledge and practical application by providing robust evidence on the benefits and challenges of EBPs. The findings underscore the importance of targeted training programs and fostering an organizational culture of continuous learning. Future research should focus on longitudinal studies and strategies to overcome barriers to EBP adoption in resource-limited settings.

Abstract

Purpose: This study explores the transformative potential of precision medicine in oncology, highlighting advancements in targeted therapies and immunotherapies and addressing practical and theoretical challenges in clinical implementation. Research Design and Methodology: Utilizing a mixed-methods design, the study integrates quantitative data from a cross-sectional survey of oncologists and qualitative insights from in-depth interviews with key stakeholders. Advanced bioinformatics tools and multi-omics data (genomics, proteomics, and transcriptomics) are analyzed to identify novel therapeutic targets and biomarkers. Findings and Discussion: The findings show that precision medicine improves patient outcomes by tailoring treatments to tumors' genetic and molecular profiles. Targeted therapies, such as tyrosine kinase and epidermal growth factor receptor inhibitors, exhibit enhanced efficacy and reduced toxicity. Immunotherapy, remarkably immune checkpoint inhibitors, demonstrates significant promise but shows variability in patient responses, underscoring the need for predictive biomarkers. Integrating multi-omics data provides a comprehensive understanding of cancer biology and new therapeutic targets. Challenges include high costs, the need for robust bioinformatics infrastructure, and ethical considerations. Implications: This study underscores the need for investment in bioinformatics infrastructure, standardized guidelines, and training for healthcare providers. Policymakers should develop strategies to lower genetic testing costs and ensure equitable access to precision medicine. Future research should focus on cost-effective genomic testing methods, combination therapies to overcome resistance, and expanding studies to diverse populations to enhance the applicability and accessibility of precision medicine benefits.

Abstract

Purpose: This study investigates the effectiveness, mechanisms, and scalability of community-based interventions designed to reduce health disparities in urban populations. Research Design and Methodology: A mixed-methods approach was employed, integrating quantitative data from structured surveys and health measurements with qualitative data from in-depth interviews and focus groups. The sample included 300 urban residents, particularly from low-income neighborhoods, and community health workers (CHWs). Findings and Discussion: The findings demonstrate that community-based interventions significantly improve health outcomes, including better management of chronic diseases, healthier eating habits, and enhanced mental well-being. Community engagement, empowerment, and utilizing local resources emerged as critical in driving these positive outcomes. The study supports the social determinants of health theory and aligns with previous research while providing new insights into the mechanisms of successful interventions. Stable funding, policy support, and adaptable models were identified as crucial for the scalability and sustainability of these interventions. Implications: The study underscores the need to integrate CHWs into urban healthcare strategies, expand community-led nutrition and mental health programs, and ensure stable funding and policy support. Despite limitations such as sample size and reliance on self-reported data, the research offers valuable guidance for policymakers and healthcare providers to create more equitable and effective health systems. Future research should focus on larger, more diverse samples and integrating health technologies to enhance intervention effectiveness and scalability.
