Abstract

Response of shoot of cactus  (Mammillaria myriacantha) to various concentrations of NAA and BAP in Vitro Mardhiah Hayati Fakultas Pertanian Unsyiah Darussalam Banda Aceh ABSTRACT The research was arranged in a factorial completely randomized design 3 x 3 with 5 replicates. Factors evaluated were concentration of NAA (0, 2, 4 mgl-1), and concentration of BAP (0, 3, 6 mgl-1). Variables observed were initiation time, shoot numbers, shoot height, root number at 2 and 4 weeks after culturing (WAC) and life percentage, dead percentage, contamination percentage. The results showed that NAA significantly affected initiation time and shoot numbers at 4 WAC.  The best initiation time was found at concentration of  NAA 4 mgl-1 and the best shoot numbers was found at concentration of NAA 2 dan 4 mgl-1. BAP had significant effect on  shoot number 4 WAC, shoot height 2 WAC, and root numbers at 2 and 4 WAC.  The best shoot numbers and shoot height were found at  BAP 3 mgl-1 but did not significantly differ from BAP 6 mgl-1.  The best root numbers, however, was at no BAP.  There was no significant interaction between both factors.

Abstract

Preference of Rat (Rattus argentiventer) to Kinds of Baits on Rice Crop Alfian Rusdy dan Irvandra Fatmal Jurusan HPT Fakultas Pertanian Unsyiah Kuala Banda Aceh ABSTRACT The purpose of this research was to identify preference of rats to several kinds of foods. This research was conducted at rice field at Aneuk Glee Village, sub district of Indrapuri, district of Aceh Besar. This research used Randomized Block Design non factorial, consisting of 6 treatments. They were unhulled paddy, rice, split rice, corn, split corn and corn powder. The treatment was repeated 4 times. The variables observed were percentage of damage plant, trapped rats, and ratio of male rat to female rat.  The result of this research showed that preference of the rat was significantly affected by kinds of food. Among the treatments, unhulled paddy was the most preferred.  However, at percentage of damage plant, the rats preferred rice to other baits.  The ratio of rats trapped was high at male rats. This proved that male rats in addition to getting the food were looking for their pairs, because female rats stayed more in the pit for feeding activity.

Abstract

Optimization of Several Tapioca Flours in Patin Fish Nuget on Sensory Characteristic Through Response Surface Method Desmelati1 dan Rita Hayati 2 1Staf Pengajar UNRI, Pekanbaru2Staf Pengajar Unsyiah, Darussalam Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam ABSTRACT Result of the study showed that optimum region for nugget production using wheat flour, tapioca flour and corn flour were 1.3 – 10.54%, 1.98 – 4.30%, and 1.18 –11.89%, respectively.  Three formulations were selected for validation study.  Two formulation were from acceptance region (F1=0.37 of wheat flour, 0.46 tapioca flour, 0.17 corn flour, F2 =0.37 of wheat flour, 0.40 tapioca flour, 0.22 corn flour), and one formulation from rejection region (F3 =12.5 of wheat flour, 75 tapioca flour, and 12.5 corn flour). The validation of the three optimum points using sensory evaluation showed that formulation F1 was most acceptable followed by F2 and F3. There was significant difference (P≤0.05) between F1 and F2 when compared to F3, thus model equation was able to predict the optimum points.

Abstract

The effect of antioxidants  as pre-storage treatment to expand the cotton seed storage period Halimursyadah1 dan Endang Murniati2 1Fakultas Pertanian Unsyiah, Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam2Fakultas Pertanian Institut Pertanian Bogor,Bogor ABSTRACTCotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) seeds ‘Kanesia 8’ were treated with antioxidants to maintain viability and vigor during ageing.  Antioxidants which were used are α-tocopherol and extract of red fruit) dissolved in acetone, ascorbic acid dissolved in water also.   Seeds were stored at 70-80% relative humidity and 28-29ºC for 12 weeks.  Periodically, viability and vigor were determined.  Seed viability and vigor were estimated by percentage germination, speed of germination, T50, and Index of vigor.  Seeds treated with α-tocopherol 150 ppm showed the highest viability and vigor during the ageing period, while ascorbic acid 300 ppm also retarded the rate of ageing.  Treating seeds with red fruits showed the highest of T50.  The ability of α-tocopherol, ascorbic acid and red fruit to reduce viability and vigor loss of stored cotton seeds may be due to their ability to inhibit lipid peroxidation.

Abstract

Functional Response of Parasitoid Trichogramma pretiosum on egg-host Corcyra cephalonica: The Effects of  Egg-host Density and Temperature Sapdi Jurusan HPT Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Syiah Kuala Banda Aceh ABSTRACT             A laboratory study has been conducted to investigate the functional response of parasitoid Trichogramma pretiosum on egg-host, Corcyra cephalonica. The treatments were egg-host density (5, 10, 15, 30, and 60 eggs per pias) and temperature (18 oC, 25oC, and room temperature). The eggs of host were exposed to the parasitoid for 24 hours at the temperature tested. Then, the parasited eggs were reared at room temperature until they were darkened. The number of parasitized eggs was observed. The result of the study showed that the type of functional response of T. pretiosum on eggs of C. Cephalonica was type II. The percentage of parasitization increased with the increase of egg-host density and temperature tested.

Abstract

Abstract

Effect of IAA and BAP on Growth of Patchouli (Pogestemon cablin Benth) In Vitro Muhammad Hatta, Mardhiah Hayati dan Ulfa Irayani Fakultas Pertanian Unsyiah Darussalam Banda Aceh  ABSTRACT The research was aimed at understanding response of patchouli growth in vitro to concentration of IAA and BAP, and looking at interaction between both treatments.  The experiment was arranged in a factorial randomized complete block design (RCBD)  2 x 6 with 5 replicates.  Factors investigated were concentration of  IAA (0 dan 1 mgl-1) and concentration of BAP (0.0, 0.4, 0.8, 1.6, 3.2 dan 6.4 mgl-1). Variables observed were shoot numbers, shoot height, and leaf numbers at 8 weeks after culturing. The results showed that there was interaction between IAA and BAP on leaf numbers of plantlet at 8 weeks after culturing, where the presence of IAA in the medium caused BAP to exert negative effect on lef formation. On shoot numbers and shoot height, the concentration of IAA and BAP did not exert any effect.

Abstract

Effect of Ground Nut Varieties and Sweat Corn Planting Time  through Intercropping System on Growth and Yield of the Two Plants Lukman Nulhakim dan Muhammad Hatta Fakultas Pertanian Unsyiah Darussalam Banda Aceh ABSTRACT             The aim of this research was to know the effect of sweat corn planting time and ground nuts varieties, and interaction between them, on both growth and yield in intercropping system. This research was conducted at Cot Cut village, Kota Baro regency, Aceh Besar sub district, from June to October 2007. Treatments were arranged by Factorial Completely Randomized Block Design 3 x 4 with 3 replicates. Sweat corn planting time consisted of 0, 15, 30 and 45 days after ground nut planting, and ground nuts varieties consisted of Putih, Merah and Gajah. Each plot were 3,5 m x 3,5 m in size, the planting spacing for sweat corn was 100 cm x 75 cm, and for ground nut was 25 cm x 25 cm. Manure was 12,25 kg/plot, applicated 1 week before ground nut planting. Urea for ground nuts was 0,12 kg/plot, applicated at ground nuts planting. Urea for sweat corn was 0,37 kg/plot, applicated 1 week after each planting times. TSP and KCl were given at ground nut planting. The results showed that 0 day after ground nut planting was the best for sweat corn growth, but 15 days after ground nut planting was the best for sweat corn yield. Variety of Putih was the best for both plants growth and yield. There was interaction between both treatments on ear of sweat corn diameters.  The best combination was  Putih variety planted at the same time with sweat corn

Email : edi_today@yahoo.com.3  Program Studi Agrotekhnologi, Fakultas Pertanian UNSYIAH Banda Aceh.Email :bakhtiarbasyah@yahoo.com. ABSTRACT Generally, chilli grows at dry season, but only offers low price of the yield. To obtain high price of the yield, usually farmers grow this crop at out of season, i.e. wet season. Wet season, however,  has more limiting factors to increase the yield, such as water logging. The aim of this study was to understand the resistance of plant to water logging. Seedlings at 21 days of age were planted in plastic container. The result indicated that full water logging and half water logging inhibited vegetative growth of chilly. However, the seedlings were survive until 3 week of logging. Full water logging caused horizontal growth of roots. Full water logging also caused increase of chlorophyl b, antocianin, and carotenoid, but decrease of chlorophyl a.
