Abstract

This paper presents an experimental investigation of effect of variety lobe separation angle camshaft  to engine power. Lobe separation angle (LSA) camshaft variation used is LSA standart camshaft (104o), LSA widened camshaft (107o), and LSA narrowed camshaft (101o). Camshaft of Honda Supra X 125 is used for this research. This research at some speed of engine, these are 4000, 4500, 5000, 5500, 6000, 6500, 7000, 7500, 8000, 8500, 9000 and 9500 rpm.  Based on the data analysis it may be concluded  that the change of LSA narrowed camshaft (101o) produces a maximum power of increase. While the change of LSA widened camshaft (107o) produces a maximum power of decreases. LSA narrowed camshaft which impact on engine speed 4000 rpm ? 5500 rpm generated power falls below the standard camshaft, while the engine speed above 6000 rpm increased power over standard camshaft. Differences that occur in this research is a positive effect because the engine power can be increased on a lap top.

Abstract

Purposes of the research are: (1) to do research  effect of copper wire electrolyzer on CO and HC exhaust gas emission of Honda Beat motorcycle of 2010. (2) To do research  effect of sparkplug type on CO and HC exhaust gas emission of Honda Beat motorcycle of 2010. (3) To do research  interactive effect using  copper wire electrolyzer and type of sparkplug on CO and HC exhaust gas emission of Honda Beat motorcycle of 2010. The experiment uses 4x3 factorial method and quantitative approach. Population of the research is Honda Beat motorcycle of 2010. Sample of the research is Honda Beat motorcycle with machine-number JF51E1050768. Sample is taken by using purposive random sampling technique. Based on the data analysis, it can be concluded that: (1) There were effect using copper wire electrolyzer on CO and HC exhaust gas emissions of Honda Beat motorcycle of 2010 and from the data presented indicate that the levels emissions of CO and HC were lower than before using electrolyzer. (2) There were effect using types of sparkplugs on CO and HC exhaust gas emissions of Honda Beat motorcycle of 2010 and from the data presented indicate that the levels emissions of CO and HC were lower than using the standard sparkplug. (3) There were interactive effect using electrolyzer and sparkplug type on CO and HC exhaust gas emission of Honda Beat motorcycle of 2010 and shows the exhaust emissions of CO and HC more lower.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is (1) Analyzing the use of CDI digital hyper band to the torque and engine power on the motorcycle Yamaha Jupiter MX in 2008. (2) Analyze the variations of engine round to the torque and engine power on the motorcycle Yamaha Jupiter MX 2008. This research has done in AHASS TARUNA MOTOR SPORT WORKSHOP that located in Jl. Bhayangkara no. 78 solo using DYNOJET. This research uses experimental methods. The sample in this research is a motorcycle Yamaha Jupiter MX in 2008 with 2S6439296 engine number and chassis number MH32S60058K439042. Based on the results of the research can be summed up: (1) Increasing round of engine could raise torque and power produced at the axle to the maximum. The round  of engine a having reached a maximum of torque and power  making torque and power that is produced at the axle to decline. (2) Using  of CDI digital hyper band does not increase the maximum torque and power produced at the axle. (3) Using of digital CDI hyper band can increase round maximum machine , as that of 1500 rpm from round maximum machine that can be attained by standard CDI. Increasing round maximum machines increases the speed maximum that can be attained by a vehicle .

Abstract

The objective of this research is to find out the relevance of practical subjects (MKB-Mata Kuliah Berkarya) concentrated on automotive engine in Educational Study Program in Sebelas Maret University of Surakarta with industrial need of automotive services and vocational high school. This research includes evaluation research using descriptive method with qualitative and quantitative approaches. Conclusion of this research is, the appropriate level between MKB concentrated on automotive engineering of PTM JPTK FKIP UNS with industrial need of automotive services is stated ?very appropriate/ very high? (81,27 % is appropriate and 18,73 % is not appropriate), and the appropriate level between MKB concentrated on automotive automotive engineering of PTM JPTK FKIP UNS with Vocational High School  is stated ?very appropriate/ very high? (83,34 % is appropriate and 15,66 % is not appropriate).

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to know about: (1) implementation of character education on student of Skills Competency Light Vehicle Engineering SMK Negeri 2 Surakarta; (2) the results of implementation of character education on student of Skills Competency Light Vehicle Engineering SMK Negeri 2 Surakarta. This research used descriptive qualitative method and the design used single case study at SMK Negeri 2 Surakarta. Research subjects were students of Skills Competency Light Vehicle Engineering SMK Negeri 2 Surakarta, as many as 316 students. The research sample as many as 11 students for interview and 87 for questionnaire. Sampling technique was purposive sampling. Data collection techniques used were questionnaire, interview, observation, and documentary method. Testing of the validity instrument was conducted based on the Pearson's Product Moment Correlation. Reliability test instrument used Cronbach's Alpha. The result of this research were: (1) Principal, Vice Principal of Academy Field, Vice Principal of Studentships Field, Vice Principal of Human Resource Development, Vice Principal of School Public Relations Field, Guidance Counselor Teachers and Productive Teachers of Skill Competency Light Vehicle Engineering SMK Negeri 2 Surakarta has implemented a character education systematically to students, especially students of Skill Competency Light Vehicle Engineering, which is a lesson plans and syllabus; (2) implementation of character education is also conducted continuously by the teacher SMK Negeri 2 Surakarta in the form of 3S Program, the training and education of VEDC Malang, P3G Bandung, P4TK Bandung and from the Provincial of Central Java; (3) implementation of character education through co-curricular activities and extracurricular; (4) results showed that students' character of Skill Competency Light Vehicle Engineering SMK Negeri 2 Surakarta average is 77.46%. Students of Skill Competency Light Vehicle Engineering SMK Negeri 2 Surakarta has good character. In addition, there are students who have not been well characterized because it is not strong in having some of the main characters, such as Responsibility and Self-Discipline characters; (5) condition students of Skill Competency Light Vehicle Engineering SMK Negeri 2 Surakarta who do not already have eight main characters have a low level of discipline, lack of initiative, lack of responsibility, and lack of respect for others; (6) condition students of Skill Competency Light Vehicle Engineering SMK Negeri 2 Surakarta which has eight main characters are more disciplined, have initiative, responsible, helpful and growing affection, respect for others and good at gratitude.

Abstract

This paper presents an effect of variation waterglass on moisture degree and clay degree in sand casting. The held as the word in sand casting used is waterglass with a variation of 0%, 15%, 25%, and 40%. Sand casting mixture on the sand river weighing 500 grams, the addition of 10 ml of water, and the addition of waterglass based on the variations that have been determined. Research carried out is descriptive research with experimental methods. The result show that the moisture degree and increasing clay degree. The higher addition of waterglass on molding sands increasing moisture degree. The resulting moisture degree is 1.50%, 5.18%, 6.48%, 7.14%. The higher addition of waterglass on molding sands increasing moisture degree. The resulting clay degree was 5.44%, 12.80%, 17.68%, 26.64%.

Abstract

The purpose of this research are: (1) To know the effect of CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) roller weight to torque on Yamaha Mio Sporty 2007, (2) To know the effect of variation of engine rotations to torque on Yamaha Mio Sporty 2007, (3) To know the effect of interaction between CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) roller weight and variation of engine rotations to torque on Yamaha Mio Sporty 2007. The research used experimental methods and the types of quantitative research. Data of analysis used two-way analysis of variance (Anova), which is the prerequisite tests previously performed tests of normality (Liliefors test) and tests of homogeneity (Bartlett test), then performed multiple comparison tests (Scheffe test) is done. Based the research can conclude that: (1) There are an effect of  CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) roller weight to torque on Yamaha Mio Sporty of 2007. (2) There are an effect of variation of engine rotations to torque on Yamaha Mio Sporty 2007. (3) There are an effect interaction between CVT (continuously variable transmission) roller weight and variation of engine rotations to torque on Yamaha Mio Sporty 2007. Maximum torque is 3.95 N.m, obtained from CVT roller weight 8.5 gr with  engine rotations at 6000 RPM.

Abstract

The research use approach corelation quantitative. While, method is used statistik inferensial. Research place in the SMK Negeri 5 Surakarta. The population are all of student grade XI Teknik Kendaraan Ringan SMK Negeri 5 Surakarta lesson year 2011/2012, 92 student. Then,  sample is 73 student. Sampel take technic is  random. The research use instrument questionnary, documentation and observation. Data analysis use  regresi analysis and path  analysis. The research find that(a) The negative relationship between library completeness with reading interest; (b)Thepositiverelationship between reading interest with automotive electrical study achievement; (c)The positive relationship between school library completeness with automotive electrical study achievement; (d) The positive impact directly between school library completeness toward reading interest student; (e) The positive impact directly between reading interest toward automotive electrical study achievement; (f) The positiveimpact directly between libraray completeness toward automotive electrical study achievement; (g) The positiveimpact non-directly between school library completeness toward automotive electrical study achievement pass reading interest.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the factors of students learning difficulties and to find out how much each of these factors causing student learning difficulties Mechanical Engineering Education FKIP UNS Academic Year 2011/2012. The research was conducted in the Campus V Pabelan Study Program Mechanical Engineering Education FKIP UNS. The research was conducted using a quantitative descriptive. Subjects in this study were students of Study Program Mechanical Engineering Education FKIP UNS following courses in the second semester that the practice amounted to 215 students and is divided into four practice courses. Samples were taken with a proportionate stratified random sampling technique as many as 175 students. Techniques of data collection in this study is the documentation, questionnaires, and interviews. The validity of the data using the method of triangulation techniques. Test the validity of the study was conducted based on numerical correlation figures Pearson's Product Moment Correlation with SPSS 15 For Windows. Reliability test of this research using Cronbach Alpha with SPSS 15 For Windows. The method of analysis used a quantitative descriptive analysis. Based on the results of data analysis can be taken a conclusion Factors Contributing  to the difficulty of learning is divided into two major lines are a) Internal factors originating from with in the student sare divided into six indicators are physical state, a state of bodily function, intelligence, interest, motivation, and talent. b) External factors that originate from outside of a student include family factors, campus factors, and community factors are divided into ten indicators that concern the elderly, the house, the family's economic situation, lecturers, practice tools, books supporting the practice, the conditions of space workshops, hanging out friends, activities in the community, and neighborhood. However, based on several factors mentioned above the most dominant factor was the cause of learning difficulties of students interests, talents, workshop space conditions, and practices supporting books. This can be seen from the results of research that proves there are several factors that cause learning difficulties of students in practical courses.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine the influence of  feedrate variation, timing of cooling  variation, and the interaction between feedrate and timing of cooling to rate wear HSS end mill cutter in machining result CNC milling with ST 40 steel. This research is an experimental research using two factor independent variable (feedrate and timing of cooling) and one dependent variable (rate wear of HSS end mill cutter). The results data of this research described using descriptive analytic method. The results of discussion with this method was enhancement of feedrate and timing of cooling the rate wear cutter increases. Type of cutter wear that occurs is flank wear and began to grow relatively quickly then followed by a relatively slow growth to a certain cutting. The smallest edge of the cutter rate wear occurs when interaction feedrate 0.11  mm/rev with a timing of cooling 10 minutes value is 562.57 ?m, while the largest edge of the cutter rate wear occurs when interaction feedrate 0.15 mm/rev with a timing of cooling 20 minutes value is 958.65 ?m. This research suggests that interaction between feedrate and timing of cooling has a certain influence to rate wear of HSS end mill cutter in machining result CNC milling with ST 40 steel.
