<![CDATA[Nightcrawler is a movie which is written and directed by Don Gilroy shows how media works. This movie tells about a freelancer cameraman named Louis Bloom who looks for footage of a news, records it and sell it to a news station. The aims of this thesis are to describe the intrinsic and extrinsic aspects of the movie. The intrinsic aspects cover the narrative elements (theme, characters, setting, plot and conflict) and cinematic elements (camera distance, mise-en-scene and sound) while the extrinsic aspects cover how media works based on agenda setting theory, the news coverage and media bias in Nightcrawler. The writer used library research to support the data analysis obtained from some references, such as some related books, journals and articles. The result of this thesis is in the process of how the news produced, there are some modifications of information so the news will be more suitable with the value of where the company comes from. The process itself contains some editing process of how media covers an issue, which can lead into media bias. ]]>

<![CDATA[Novel is a long printed story about imaginary character and events. George’s Marvelouse Medicine is novel for children. This novel is easy to understand and written in trivial language because it used to introduce children about literary. There is some of picture to describe the look of the character and what characters do in some occasion to keep the reader interest in reading. It was a good novel but there is something in the ending that makes it a little akward. The ending is hanging and it’s feels like there is something unfinished like the story are having more potential to be continued. masih berpotensi supaya cerita dilanjutkan dan dapat menghasilkan akhir cerita yang lebih baik. Kelemahan berikutnya adalah kurangnya peringatan kepada pembaca karna didalam novel tersebut terdapat banyak bahan-bahan yang berbahaya jika dikonsumsi. Karena novel ini ditujukan kepada anak-anak maka diharapkan adanya tambahan peringatan kepada mereka untuk tidak meniru dan memakan bahan bahan yang ada dalam cerita novel ini. ]]>

<![CDATA[ Khaled Hosseini’s novel entitled The Kite Runner is an American bestseller novel that represents racial conflict between the Pashtuns and Hazaras, two different races and ethnics in Afghanistan. The aims of this study are to find out the causes of racial discrimination, to analyze examples of racial discrimination, and to analyze the impacts of racial discrimination as depicted in The Kite Runner. Sociological approach and theories on racism and racial discrimination are used in this study. The result of this study shows that racial discrimination in The Kite Runner is caused by social structural factors and social psychological factors. Pashtuns and Hazaras differ in terms of religious beliefs, cultural practices, social status, and physical appearances. Pashtun as the majority race and ethnic in Afghanistan is Sunni Moslem while Hazara is Shi’a. Other reason why the Hazaras have been discriminated by Pashtun is their appearance that look like Chinese people. The Hazaras are also seen as the weakest and poorest race in Afghanistan, so that they are easily subjected to be killed, insulted, and tortured by Pashtuns. Moreover, racial discrimination in The Kite Runner causes some bad impacts to psychological health as well as to society. In The Kite Runner, it not only causes some bad impacts to Hassan’s psychological health but also causes a plan to commit the genocide, slavery, and oppression act toward the Hazaras. Therefore, it can be concluded that racial discrimination is harmful to the people and society because it teaches people to make judgments about others in terms of group-based expectations or standards.]]>

<![CDATA[This thesis will analyze the main character of Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell, Cath Avery. The main purpose of this thesis is to analyze the intrinsic and extrinsic aspects of the story. In this thesis, the intrinsic aspects will use characters, characterizations, conflicts and settings and the extrinsic aspect will use Carl Gustav Jung’s Analytical Psychology Theory. The methods that are used in this thesis are the library research and psychological approach. The result of the analysis shows that Cath Avery’s personality is the form of introvert personality type. The cause of Cath Avery’s introvert personality can be seen from the external element. The introvert personality also influences Cath Avery having inferior feeling, feeling uncomfortable toward her surrounding and having trouble with her social life. ]]>

<![CDATA[Black Swan movie directed by Darren Aronofsky is a movie which includes many psychological aspects in it. This movie tells us about a journey to find the true self of the main character named Nina Sayers. The writer uses library research in collecting the data. The objectives of this thesis are to describe both intrinsic aspects which include narrative (theme, character, setting and conflict) and cinematic elements (mise-en-scene, camera distance, and sound) and to explain extrinsic aspects. To analyze the extrinsic aspects of the movie, the writer usespsychological approach. The writer analyses how Nina finds her true self related to Carl Jung theory about self individuation process. There are four kinds of archetypes in order to acknowledge the self individuation process. They are “persona”, “shadow”, “anima and animus”, and “Self”. Eventually, the writer finds that Nina does not experience those four archetypes. The result of this thesis is the “shadow” and “persona” are two archetypes which dominate Nina. It can be stated that the main character does not succeed in the process of self individuation proposed by Carl Gustav Jung.]]>

<![CDATA[This final project analysis Gayle Forman’s novel entitled: If I Stay. The purpose of this final project is to analysis the behaviour change of the main character, Mia Hall. The study uses psychological approach and library research to analyse the behaviour change of the main character. Mia experiences three phases of behaviour change: unfreezing phase, movement phase and refreezing phase of Mia. Mia changes her behaviour and the social environment affect Mia’s behaviour change. Mia’s change is planned change. However, Mia decides not to change her behaviour permanently.]]>

<![CDATA[AbstractThis thesis focuses on Libertarianism aspects as reflected in the characters ofDallas Buyers Club (2013) film by Jean-Marc Vallée. Dallas Buyers Clubfilm describes a reflection of libertarian movement or individual liberty with the limited intervention from the government by the characters named Ron Woodroof and Dr. Eve. The aim of this thesis is to describe libertarianism aspects in the movie by analyzing the intrinsic and extrinsic aspects. The writer employs library research to support the data with the film as the main data and some relevant books, journals, articles, and online documents and websites as the supporting data. To analyze the intrinsic aspects, the writer uses some theories of narrative elements and cinematography elements. To analyze the extrinsic aspects, the writer applies the theory of libertarianism with its key concepts by David Boaz. The result of this thesis proves that, based on David Boaz’s theory, the characters of the movie, such as Ron Woodroof has applied individual rights, free market, and limited government and Dr. Eve has applied spontaneous order as the basic key concepts of libertarianism.]]>

<![CDATA[Remaja Jakarta, Bogor, Tangerang dan Bekasi yang menggunakan bahasa Indonesia sebagai bahasa pertama mereka untuk percakapan sehari-hari, memodifikasi bahasa Indonesia menjadi bahasa yang dikenal dengan sebutan bahasa gaul. Bentuk dan variasi bahasa gaul ini bermacam-macam, salah satunya adalah bahasa Indonesia yang mengalami proses metatesis. Metatesis adalah proses fonologis dimana penutur mengubah posisi bunyi dalam sebuah kata. Dalam hal ini, penulis tertarik untuk menganalisis fenomena metatesis yang terjadi pada bahasa Indonesia yang digunakan oleh remaja JABOTABEK.Tujuan penulisan skripsi ini tidak hanya sekedar untuk mengetahui tipe-tipe metatesis dan proses fonologi yang terjadi pada bahasa gaul, namun juga untuk mengetahui alasan remaja-remaja JABOTABEK menggunakan variasi bahasa ini dalam berkomunikasi.Data yang digunakan merupakan kata yang mengalami proses metatesis. Metode pengambilan data menggunakan purposive sampling dan teori Sudaryanto metode simak yaitu observasi dan cakap.Hasil analisa menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 2 tipe metatesis yang ditemukan dalam bahasa gaul yaitu metatesis dengan membalikkan seluruh bunyi yang ada dalam satu kata yaitu dari belakang ke depan dan metatesis yang hanya memindahkan beberapa bunyi saja. Adapun prediksi sistem bahasa tentang bagaimana seseorang membentuk kata baru dengan cara metatesis. Proses fonologis yang muncul setelah kata-kata dalam bahasa Indonesia tersebut mengalami proses metatesis adalah proses menghilangan konsonan, menambahan konsonan, penghilangan bunyi vokal, penurunan bunyi vokal, dan netralisasi. Alasan remaja JABOTABEK menggunakan kata-kata metatesis ini adalah karena mereka tinggal di lingkungan yang juga menggunakan kata-kata tersebut dalam berkomunikasi, membuat suatu kode agar orang lain yang tidak termasuk dalam remaja JABOTABEK tidak mengerti apa yang mereka katakan dan untuk meningkatkan derajat sosial mereka menjadi remaja yang gaul.]]>

<![CDATA[Praanggapan atau presuposisi merupakan asumsi tersirat yang menyertai ujaran-ujaran tertentu.Meskipun tidak terucap secara langsung, asumsi tersebut tetap tersampaikan.Praanggapan atau presuposisi dapat diteliti dalam kegiatan penyampaian informasi melalui program yang ditayangkan oleh televisi.Salah satu program televisi yang bertujuan menyampaikan informasi adalah infotainment.Dalam Skripsi ini, penulis mencob amenguraikan praanggapan atau presuposisi yang terdapat dalam ujaran narrator infotainment Silet.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi jenis-jenis pemicupra anggapan yang muncul dalam ujaran narrator infotainment Silet.Penulis juga akan mencoba menguraikan fungsi-fungsi dari pranggapan yang terdapat dalam ujaran narrator infotainment Silet.Dalam mengumpulkan data, penulis menggunakan metode observasinon-participant dan dilanjutkan dengan teknik catat.Data kemudian dipilih dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling.Penulis menggunakan metodepa dan pragmatic, metode refleksi fintrospektif, dan teknik hapus untuk menganalisis data. Data yang dianalisi oleh penulis merupakan ujaran-ujaran yang mengandung praanggapan.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 55 ujarandari 108 ujaran narrator yang mengandung praanggapan.Penulis menemukan bahwa satu ujaran mempunyai kemungkinan untuk memiliki lebih dari satu pemicu praanggapan yang mewakili jenis praanggapan yang berbeda.Penulis lalu mengkategorikan praanggapan tersebut berdasar jumlah pemicu praanggapan yang ditemukan. <![CDATA[This research is about the words ‘white’ and ‘whitening’ that are found on the label of hand & body lotion product which represent a cultural product based on the study of Linguistic Anthropology. This research is purposely conducted as the writer notices that hand and body lotion product contains linguistic data manifesting Indonesian culture, particularly women. The purpose of the study is to reveal the culture of Indonesian women that is set by the hand and body lotion products’ producers by using the words ‘white’ and ‘whitening’ in the labels of hand and body lotion products. The writer used Open-ended Questionnaire from Creswell (2010:26) to collect the respondents’ answers. To collect the words ‘white’ and ‘whitening’, the writer used Note-Taking Technique from Creswell (2010:272) and Non-Participatory Observation Method from Liu and Maitlis (2010). To analyze the data, the writer used Theory of Culture as a System of Mediation by Duranti (1997:40-41). The writer found that the words ‘white’ and ‘whitening’ refer to a certain concept of what Indonesian women expect to be. The writer concludes that it is a condition that one characteristic of beauty shaped by the Indonesian women is having white or bright complexion.]]>
