Abstract

This research aims to develop a practical guide-book of scientific approach that can develop college students scientific thinking skills. The research is using the Research and Development (R D) form by follow development path of ADDIE (Analyze Design, Develop, implement and Evaluate). The result of validation from the education and the chemistry experts showed that the practical guide-book that where develop was valid and possible to use. Then the practical guide-book is implemented into learning and the results showed that there are differences in students' scientific thinking skills before and after the developed practical guide-book are implemented and there is an increase with a normal gain score is 0.76 which is in the high category and students respond positively to practical activities using scientific-based practical guide-book. Thus it can beconcluded that the developed practical guide-book  is valid and possible to use and can develop students' scientific thinking skills

Abstract

Implementation of a good learning process should use appropriate learning media and can support contextual learning, and one such medium is a butterfly house. The research method is quasi-experiment. The result of the research shows that there is an increase of student learning result of biology teacher candidate using butterfly house as a medium of learning in Genetics course significantly in the medium category. This increase is not in the high category because there are many technical obstacles in the process of preserving butterflies, but these are the technical constraints that make the process of solving the problem in maintaining butterflies can be honed. Thus the use of butterfly house as a learning medium of Biology is to bridge the difficulty of studying butterflies in the wild and lack of study of butterflies using the media animation.

Abstract

Prediction of how learning might proceed can be used as a basis for designing and achieving successful learning. A Hypothetical Learning Trajectory (HLT) consisted of learning goals, a set of learning activities, and a hypothesized learning process was developed for learning linear equations in which PISA and the scientific approach model also became points of consideration. HLT implementation in three learning schemes suggested the importance of scaffolding in learning linear equations. Sufficient and strategic scaffolding can improve student’s understanding and facilitate the students in overcoming obstacles when learning linear equations.

Abstract

The blast in personal digital technologies worldwide, including Indonesia, offers rising opportunities to create digital media. Along with digital media creation for education, both creativity and conceptual understanding must be involved. Therefore, this research is aimed to investigate the influence of Slowmation (Student-created Slow Motion Animation) on students’ creativity and knowledge of heat transfer. The study used a pre-experimental: one group pretest-post-test design. The sample was taken by convenience sampling technique in experimental class (n=20) with the population of 8th-grade students at independence secondary school in Bandung. Students’ understanding result was obtained through the objective test with the development of a normalized gain of 0.30 (0.70 g ≥ 0.30) as medium improvement, while students’ creativity gained through the creative process and product of Slowmation with 78.2 as an above standard category.ABSTRAK Perkembangan personal teknologi digital di seluruh dunia, termasuk Indonesia, menawarkan peluang yang meningkat untuk menciptakan media digital.

Abstract

This research aims to know the representation of multiple intelligence types in physics textbooks for Junior High School. The data source of this research is the BSE Science (physics subject matters) textbook adapted from 6 books, such as a book for VII grade levels 1 and 2, a book for VIII grade levels 1 and 2, and a book for IX grade level 1 and 2. This research uses using a qualitative descriptive method by analyzing textbooks using by checklist system instrument, which had developed by Seyyed Ayatollah Razmoo and Zahra Jozaghi (2010). This checklist system refers to 8 multiple intelligence types by Howard Gardner (1999). These eight intelligence types would be specified in several activities related to each type. The data analysis result shows that the physics subject of Science in the BSE textbook for Junior High School is more centered around logical intelligence, which is intended for an experiment, collecting data, logical thinking, and numerical calculation. Therefore, it can be concluded that the book has not accommodated the entire intelligence.
