Abstract

The high volume of garbage in the city of Pekanbaru, especially organic garbage, has led to the idea of utilizing the garbage to become a more useful thing, where it can be used as material in making MOL (local organism). The  utilization of MOL (local organism) it self is very beneficial for farmers because the ingredients that used come from the organic materials, and the costs that we used are less than buying commercial fertilizers. The purpose of this study is to find out  the process of making MOL, to know the nutrient test values in MOL from the waste of fruits, to know the techno-economics of making MOL from the waste of fruits. The method that used is Variable Costing to calculate The Cost of Production and the Random Duplicate Design method to determine the treatment of MOL. The results of the laboratory test showed that Treatment A on the 3rd repetition with a level of 100 ml EM-4 had the best results with a value of Nitrogen 0.0010%, Fospor 0.000014%, and Potassium 0.000022%. The cost of production is Rp 21,000 / Liter and Break Even Point is 4 Liter that relased in Rp 69,686.49

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the potential and challenges of taxation in the digital era and  understanding the readiness of business actors conducting business activities through E-commerce (PMSE) to the new taxation rules. In addition, this study also provides an overview of taxation policies that are appropriate to the digital era. There are still many potential taxation that has not been touched. One of the biggest potential is in digital companies. Tax regulations for digital companies are still under discussion by the government. But for business operators who carry out PMSE, there is a regulation which requires them to pay taxes. Observations indicate that the majority of business operators conducting PMSEs are not yet aware of the latest tax regulations. Literacy is needed so that more tax objects are aware on tax. Nevertheless, the results show that business operators are ready to be confirmed as taxpayers in accordance with applicable regulations. This is a big opportunity in the taxation sector.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze poverty in West Sumatera Province using multidimensional approach. In multidimensional approach, poverty is measured and analyzed by considering the non-monetary dimension: health dimension, education dimension, and dimension of quality standard of living. The multidimensional poverty measurement in this study used the Alkire-Foster method was introduced by Alkire and Foster (2007) which was later adopted by UNDP to calculate the Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) as a permanent feature in the Human Development Report since 2010. Using the Susenas 2016 data, the following results are obtained: (1) The poverty condition is measured taking into account the non-monetary dimension giving a different picture than just taking into account the monetary dimension; (2) Poverty in West Sumatra is a rural phenomenon indicated by the dominance of higher deprived indicators in rural areas; (3) indicators of the use of cooking fuels, pre-school access, and sanitation are the indicators with the highest deprivation (inability of access) in the poor multidimensional population. From a poverty point of view in general, multidimensional poverty is relatively higher than that of monetary poverty. Therefore, multidimensional measurement is needed to complement the measurement of monetary poverty in order to provide a comprehensive picture of poverty estimation.

Abstract

ASEAN and Canada agreed to establish cooperation as ASEAN-Canada Free Trade Agreement (FTA). This cooperation aims to strengthen economic relations between ASEAN and Canada by eliminating tariff barriers for almost all of trade in goods. Therefore, this study aims to calculate how big the effect of the ASEAN-Canada FTA trade agreement on the macroeconomic conditions of ASEAN member countries. The analysis method used is Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) model using Global Trade Analysis Project (GTAP) version 9A. This cooperation is expected to reduce trade barriers in all sectors, particularly tariff reductions as a representation of declining trade barriers in both ASEAN and Canada. This study analyse two trade policy scenarios by 50% and 100% (full liberalization) tariff reduction. The simulation results show that all ASEAN member countries get the benefit from full liberalization or a 50% tariff reduction on welfare except Laos and Philippines. In addition, this cooperation also can increase the real GDP in all ASEAN member countries and trade balance for Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, Myanmar and Canada. It also has negative impacts on inflation and investment for some ASEAN member countries such as Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia and Thailand.
