Abstract

Technology usage for elevating work productivity still cannot be separated from human control. Therefore, company performance will be affected by the operator’s quality. Computer interaction, as an example of technology used, is dominating the work performed. Continuous and repetitive used will affect the occupational health. Hence, it will increase the risk of Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS). Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS) is defined as a collection of symptoms related to eyes caused by computer usage and affected by several factors. Those factors can be divided into individual and external factors. The problem of this research is to determine whether there is a relationship between CVS with the internal and external factors. The type of research is non experimental quantitative with correlational research design and cross sectional approach. While the respondents are twelve operators of Refinery Central Control Room (RCCR). Spearman Rho test is used to find relationship among variables. The results from this research indicate that there is correlation between age and the resulting CVS symptoms with the value of p is 0,04 (p<0 05). But, there are no correlation between CVS and other factors (eye glasses, length of work duration, break time, eye sides distance). Not all internal and external factors have correlation with the accuracy of CVS. This Research shows correlation between internal factors and CVS. It was aging. Aging is degenerative processes which lower the body function periodically. Therefore, there are correlation between age and CVS. But, there are not for other factors.

Abstract

Biodiesel is an alternative renewable energy source having many advantages such as environmental friendly, non-toxic, and has lower emission gases. Biodiesel is produced from transesterification of vegetable oils or animal fat. In this research, the transesterification of rice barn oil (RBO) using the solid base catalyst was studied. The performances of the catalysts were evaluated in terms of the reaction temperatures, the molar ratios of methanol to oil, and the catalyst loading. The effects of the mass ratio of catalyst to oil (1-10%), the molar ratio of methanol to oil (6:1-12:1), and the reaction temperature (40-60 oC) were studied for the yield of biodiesel to optimize the reaction conditions. The results showed that the optimal conditions were a methanol to oil molar ratio of 12:1, the amount of catalyst of 10%wt. of oil, and reaction temperature of 60 oC. The physicocharacteristics of the catalysts were analyzed by Nitrogen gas adsorption, surface functional groups by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-Ray Fluorescence Spectroscopy (XRF), and XRay Diffraction (XRD).

Abstract

Trains are a means of transportation of interest to the public in Indonesia. In addition to fast, the cost and convenience of service on the train became one of the reasons for the selection of this transportation. Accidents at railway crossings are common in Indonesia. One reason is the absence of a doorstop in the railway crossing. In this research, we try to develop the closing and opening tool of train railway crossing automatically. This device is equipped with vibration sensor and infrared sensor to detect train arrival. The sensor readout signal will be processed by arduino UNO and sent to the control center using wireless nRF24l01 + PA + LNA module. The signal will be received by the control module using the same receiver module and will be processed by arduino mega 2560 to open and close the railway crossing door equipped with LED indicator. Based on the test results, the nRF24l01 + PA + LNA transceiver module can work at a distance of 940 meters with an average data transmission delay of 1.2952 seconds.

Abstract

Elektrostimulator combined in acupunture therapy to provide the stimulation of electric energy at the point of the meridians of the body. Granting the power to create a balance of energy (chi) in the body. In administering the energy must pay attention to the voltage waveform, intensity, frequency and timing of stimuli. The purpose of this research is to change the system tools from analog into digital by changing the settings of the timer and frequency using the keypad that is controlled using the Microcontroller ATMega16. Specifications of the simulation tool elektrostimulator acupunture designed include the frequency setting of 5-100Hz, setting the intensity of a voltage 0 timer setting until 25Vac 60 minutes and has a spike waveform mode continou and electrodes used floating types. The test result show that simulated acupunture elektrostimulator tool result obtained in accordance with the compliance with the specifications but there is little the percentage error of frequency deviation i.e. 0.47% deviation of the timer of 0.29%, intensity of the voltage deviation of 0.073 % and waveform was nearing the same against his theory.

Abstract

Edible film are plastics which can be degraded by microorgaisms and is made from renewable materials. Plastics film is made from cassava starch. Plasticizer used is sorbitol and glycerol. The purposes of this research is to determine the effect of plasticizer variation and starch weight on the characteristics of cassava starch plastic films. Cassava starch weight variation are 1,75 g, 2 g, 2,25 g at sorbitol and 3 g, 3,5 g, 4 g at glycerol and glycerol variations are 1,5 ml, 1,75 ml, and 2 ml and sorbitol variations are 1,5 g, 1,75 g, and 2 g. The reseach results showed that the interactions between starch and plasticizers are significantly effect on tensile strength and elongation of the edible film while the starch cassava weight is significantly effect on the thickness of the edible film. Tensile strength of plastic film are decreased with increasing glycerol volume sorbitol weight. While elongation of plastic film rised with increasing glycerol volume and sorbitol weight. Thickness of plastic film is increase with increasing starch weight.

Abstract

In the current era of regional autonomy, regional development will be more complex. The existence of the gap between the region and the development of globalization resulted in competition between regions become increasingly tight. Sleman Regency has superior sectors in the construction, transportation and warehousing sector, real estate services and services business, which is influenced by sleman regency which is adjacent to Yogyakarta City so that it can form urban agglomeration area. Sleman Regency urban agglomeration region is a sleman district area as center of education, office, hotel and National Peace Center in accordance with RT / RW of Sleman district.

Abstract

The work process in some aluminum cast aluminum craft shows a series of work that has the risk of injury. UKM Aluminum Correct Handicraft Correct in Bantul, Yogyakarta, untouched in the manufacture of household appliance such as wok as its output. SMEs are divided into several work processes, namely smelting, printing, pengikiran, lathe, brand attachment, and packing. From the results of preliminary observations, the problems encountered in the production process are with potential ergonomic hazard (ergonomic hazard). The posture and work area (less) are less ergonomic as well. The purpose of this study is the prevention of ergonomic hazards, especially with the analysis of work postures that can cause the risk of injury. The results of the work posture category on SME aluminum casting on operators 1 and 2 enter the acceleration category level 3 which requires immediate examination, while operator 3 enters in action level 2 (continued). Terms of repair work system on aluminum cast aluminum that is by changing the work station from work station stands to work station sitting stand at work station finishing and also add chair and table at work of thinking. Also note the stretching and periodic rest.

Abstract

Triacetin is a product from reaction between glycerol and acetic acid on acid catalyst. The use of solid catalysts such as ion exchange Lewatit is an alternative method to ease product separation. Synthesize of triacetin was conducted in a batch reactor with stirring speed of 175 rpm, at temperarture of 100oC and the reactant ratio of 6 mole acetic acid / glycerol. The effect of concentration catalyst and reusability of catalyst were investigated. The highest conversion obtained for 84,84 % in catalyst concentration 5% to weight of glycerol. The result showed that comparison of catalyst concentration give real effect to the conversion of glycerol into triacetin, while the reusability catalyst does not give a significant effect on glycerol conversion be triacetin.

Abstract

Usability is a key factor that determine success of a product or interactive system, like smartphone. The increasing use of smartphone and its rapid technology development, requires usability evaluation method that is more accurate and effective to found usability problem, so it can be used for product improvement in development process. This study suggests a usability evaluation method that is most effective to identify problem in smartphone usage. Three usability evaluation methods that commonly used are compared in this study, including: think-aloud evaluation (TA), cognitive walkthrough (CW), and heuristic evaluation (HE). This study involved 15 smartphone users as participants and 16 usability experts who is also a smartphone users as evaluators. The results showed, among the three usability evaluation methods, heuristic evaluation (HE) has the highest effectiveness and severity methods, while cognitive walkthrough (CW) and think-aloud evaluation (TA) still has potential for further development.
