Abstract

The  determination of field distribution of an electromagnetic wave propagating in an optically nonlinear planar waveguide with uniform medium is in priciple a two dimensional problem in the transverse plane. The associated generalized equation can be reduced to one-dimensional problems by means of effective index method, resulting in soliton like spatial distribution of the electric field along the transversal direction parallel to the waveguide plane. Taking into account this nonuniform field distribution in terms of the effective index of the guide, we have studied numerically the nonlinear coupling behaviors of a symmetric dual waveguide system. The result shows optically controlled waveguide coupling, the possibility  of implementing the optically controlled logic functions.  Keywords: nonlinear optic, spatial soliton, coupling effect.

Abstract

Domestic market of shoes is increasing. Howewer this opportunity is yet to be grasped by domestic producers. Lack of quality is of identified obstacles of the domestic products which are mostly produced by household industries to compete in the market. An aspect of the quality is product’s appearance that is influenced by quality of raw material which is leather. Hence, this recent research aims to design machine that can be used to yield better quality leather. In each 8 hours the machine can produce ready-to-used leather for 100 pairs of shoes.Keywords: leather, shoes.

Abstract

Penelitian ini tentang pemanfaatan tenaga surya untuk pemanas udara lewat penggunaan sebuah kolektor energi surya berbentuk pelat datar (Type T-39) yang dikombinasikan dengan pipa-pipa saluran pertukaran panas pada sebuah ruang pertukaran panas. Hal ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh hubungan antara efisiensi kolektor () sebagai fungsi temperatur air rata-rata (Tavg) dan kecepatan aliran air (V).Kolektor energi surya ini dirancang menjadi sebuah tipe kolektor yang tidak dapat digerakkan namun dapat berfungsi dengan baik sebagai pemanas air. Proses pemanasan alat ini menggunakan dua media yaitu pemanas udara dan air. Alat ini bekerja lewat variasi kecepatan air yang mengalir di dalam kolektor dan dengan memperhitungkan kecepatan udara yang melalui pipa-pipa saluran pertukaran panas yang berhubungan dengan kolektor tersebut, maka kondisi optimum proses pemanasan udara dapat diindikasi pada jarak-jarak tertentu antara tabung-tabung bilik pertukaran panas.Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa waktu efektif pemanasan berlangsung mulai dua jam sebelum tengah hari hingga dua jam sesudahnya. Untuk pemanasan udara, sebuah persamaan umum efisiensi kolektor diperoleh melalui hubungan antara temperatur air rata-rata yang mengalir di dalam kolektor (Tavg) dan kecepatan air (V), yaitu  = 115,3336403 (Tavg)-0,097124 (V)-0,102206Persamaan diatas mempunyai kesalahan standar sebesar 0,2375%, dan berlaku pada kisaran temperatur (Tavg) sebesar 15,86 oC hingga 31,48 oC, dan pada kecepatan aliran sebesar 0,47 liter per 60 detik hingga 0,600 liter per 60 detik. Berdasarkan kondisi-kondisi operasi terapan tersebut, jumlah total transfer panas bertambah sejalan dengan berkurangnya kecepatan air di dalam kolektor yang dihubungkan dengan pipa-pipa saluran pertukaran panas. Abstract

Several criterions used to determine the security measure of ciphers, have been researched for tens years. Shannon recommended two concepts for designing of algorithm encryption: confusion and diffusion. These criterions have been expanded with other criterions addition like avalanche property, Strict Avalanche property, Key-dependence avalanche, sequence complexity, Binary derivatives, and Bit dependencies. This paper will try to discuss if the criterions that have been proposed by researchers have succeeded to counter to cryptanalysis. In this paper, six-round-DES is examined. The result of the research showed that the DES reduced to six rounds has satisfied the criterions, but failed to counter to differential cryptanalysis (DC). Some researchers have proposed to strengthen DES by making all subkeys Ki independent. So, for DES reduced to six rounds with independent subkeys, the number of keys is 6x48 (288 bits). However, DC can break the cipher by analyzing only 256 cipher texts.Keywords: Block cipher, differential cryptanalysis, DES, criterions, subkey.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to study the implementation diffusion bonding process on tungsten and low carbon steel system with interlayer Ag-4% Cu, as well as investigate the influence of process parameters such as temperatur, initial pressure and heating time to the shear strength of the joint. Based on the result of shear test, initial pressure 48-144MPa has positive effect to the shear strength. Likewise by improving temperature of heating, it will improve the shear strength. The optimal shear strength is obtained at the temperature 9500C with maximal shear strength is 165 MPa and its bonding ratio 85%. The temperature 9500C and pressure of 144 MPa diffusion bonding has been successfully done with the heating time of 15 minute.Optical and stereomicroscopy on fracture surface after shear testing of the samples reveal tran granular fracture occur at the interlayer. Microstructure analysis at the interlayer reveals in variation microstructure as function of temperature, initial pressure, and heating time. The thickness of interlayer decrease with increasing the temperature, initial pressure and heating time. Other wise, the thickness of grain boundary and second phase area increase with the increasing the temperature, initial pressure and heating time. Based on the SEM/EDS examination, the element of Fe has the dominant distribution. There is accumulation of the element Fe on the limit area with tungsten. The distribution of the element of W, Ag and Fe increase with the increasing the heating time. Diffusivity of some atoms has been calculated based on SEM data at the interlayer. At 9500C, the diffusivity among the element of atom namely are D Ag to Fe= 0,00195 m2s-1, D Fe to Ag=0,02364 m2s-1, DAg to W=0,0061 m2s-1 , and DW to Ag= 0,025034 m2s-1.Keywords: Diffusion Bonding, material, Tungsten, steel, interlayer.

Abstract

Metode finite difference eksplisit adalah metode yang mudah diprogram dibandingkan metode finite difference implicit atau metode-metode numerik lainnya. Selain itu, metode eksplisit itu dapat digunakan untuk menyelesaikan persamaan panas (heat equation) linear dalam satu dimensi. Akan tetapi, metode eksplisit itu mempunyai sebuah kekurangan yaitu keterbatasan stabilitas dari penyelesaian numerik adalah sangat ketat. Oleh sebab itu, metode eksplisit itu tidak lagi termasuk daftar metode-metode numerik yang handal yang dapat digunakan untuk menyelesaikan persamaan-persamaan diferensial parsial.Oleh karena itu, maka diusulkan untuk menggunakan analisis wavelet Haar di dalam skema numerik dari metode eksiplisit untuk mengatasi kekurangan metode itu, yaitu keterbatasan stabilitas, dengan menjaga diskretisasi dari metode eksplisit agar tidak berubah. Kekurangan dari metode finite difference eksiplisit itu sudah dapat diatasi secara signifikan oleh analisis Haar wavelet yang tidak mempengaruhi logika metode asli yatiu metode eksiplisit. Abstract

The changes of market structure from monopoly to duopoly is proposed to introduce the competition to the company. In the new market structure, duopoly, the company must be establish the competitive strategy that could be implemented and then establish the best competitive strategy. This research addresses the problem of capacity expansion, i.e., to formuate a capacity expansion model for a local access cable broadband telecommunication network. The model covers the market structure, duopoly, and the technologicai innovation. In the model, the market structure was represented by the market leader and market chalenger, while the technological innovation was represented by the rate of technological innovation paramater. Market leader was established three competitive strategy, i.e., preemptive defense, position defense, and counteroffensive defense, while market challenger was established two competitive strategy, i.e., encirclement attack and frontal attack.The model was optimized by the first derivative. Abstract

Every company puts consumers’  satisfaction as the main priority in service to win the competition among similar companies. The use of Fuzzy Quantification II for evaluating the costumers’ satisfaction of two self-service supermarkets, namely Alfa and Indogrosir, had been done. Although both Indogrosir and Alfa have the same characteristic as supermarkets, they differ in the company policies and each has their own superiorities.  The satisfaction level which are formed by several qualitative data will be transformed into numerical one. These two supermarkets are treated as an External Standard Variable ( y ) to become the objective function of purpose. There were 13 factors including the varieties and the quality of goods indicated as Parameter Variable which influence the satisfaction level. The results show that the varieties of goods are the most dominant factor for the costumers’ satisfaction. Futhermore, it shows that the satisfaction level for Alfa Supermarket is 0.69 and for Indogrosir is 0.60. Keywords: consumers’ satisfaction, fuzzy quantification, external standard variable.

Abstract

In practice, most inventory system accommodate more than one type of item.Under this situation the analysis of inventory problem is approached by treating each type of item independently.The problem becomes complicated when constrains are imposed in inventory system.Constrains normally arise because scarce of resources exist such as capital,storage space, and equipment capacities. This paper considered a multi item inventory system with 2 constrains: working capital  and storage space restrictions.The Lagrangian method and The LIMIT technique  is utilized to obtain optimal order quantity solution for constraining conditions.While The Lagrangian method transforms a constrained optimization problem into an unconstrained  problem for higher dimension,The LIMIT Technique determines the relation of agggregate EOQ requirements to the limited resource available and revises all the lot sizes by the same proportion to bring the aggregate EOQ resources requirements within the limit. Abstract

This paper describes an integrated tourism information system developed using web-service technology. In order to give a clear picture of multi-tier system used for developing web-services, two cases (“WisataBudayaJawa web-service” for giving recommendations for users to select tourism objects to visit in the areas of the Province of Central Java and the Province of Yogyakarta; and “Kurs web-service” for delivering information on foreign currency exchange rate) are presented. The results of the study show that web-service enable to simplify operations conducted by a programmer in inputing and gathering outputs.
