Abstract

There is no doubt that the Quran and hadith are two main sources of Islamic law. They serve as guides for Muslims in both their individual and social lives. However, because of their dynamic lives, Muslims are in need of dynamic law. For this reason, urf (custom) serves as one of law studies that invites many Muslim scholars to give comments on whether or not urf can be considered a legal argument. It is within this context that this article will discuss urf and its legal argument to be implemented in Muslims’ social lives.          Kata Kunci: Hukum Islam, urf, muamalah

Abstract

It is not easy to make a definition of “law” since Islamic syari’ah, Islamic law and fiqh are  law in nature. Basically, in a society, law aims at serving and protecting society. It is a system of implementation to protect both individual rights and societal rights. Besides, it possesses nature and scope of its own. Law is constant. It is not influenced by room and time. It is only Muslim’s interpretation to the law that always changes in accordance with socio-historical and cultural spheres. Islamic syari’ah, Islam law and fiqh, lie on the argument used. Islamic syari’ah is based on the Qur’an and the Sunnah without any legal reasoning, but constantly relies on the spirit of the two Islamic sources. So, Islamic syari’ah is constant while Islamic law is temporal. In the context of positive law, Islamic law has good prospect as long as law practitioners are capable of optimizing the strength and opportunity possessed by Islamic law.    Kata Kunci:  Undang-undang, syari’ah, hukum Islam

Abstract

Key Words: Islamic feminism, gender relation, hermeneutics, qath’î-zannî, takhrîj, ta’lîq

Abstract

Mysticism is a particular method of approaching God, making use of intuitive and emotional spiritual faculties that are generally dormant and latent unless called into play through training under guidance. Throughout history of sufism, we have known some great sufis such as al-Ghazali, Rabi’ah al-Adawiyah; Abu Yazid al-Bustami, and Husain ibn Mansur al-Hallaj. However, they employed different terms for their inner experiences. It is within this context that this article tries to elaborate their spiritual experiences and how to express them in the state of ecstasy.Kata Kunci: Sufi, tasawuf, maqamat

Abstract

In modern era, the idea of Madani Society is one of  alternatives in building society wished by the majority of Indonesian people. They associate the idea of Madani Society with that of Madinah Society established by the Prophet Muhammad during his life in Madinah. Although Madinah society was simple, it was regarded highly modern in that era. The idea of  Madani Society lies on the principle of  khaira ummah (the best adherents) in Islam. Therefore, Islam orders its ummah (adherents) to lead to Madinah Society. Kata Kunci: Masyarakat madani, civil society, masyarakat Madinah,    khaira ummah

Abstract

Harun ar-Rasyid was the third caliph of Abbasid. He served as a very predominant caliph in his time. Moreover, it was in his rule that, in Asia, there were many achievements in various sectors of life such as in economy, agriculture, science, and literature. Besides, buildings for worship, education, and health were founded at that time. The progress in these sectors of life made Baghdad, the capital of Abbasid, as the greatest center for commerce. The decline and destruction of Harun ar-Rasyid’s caliphate was preceded by caliph succession and the promotion of Ibrahim ibn Aqlab to be a governor as well as Rafi’ah al-Laish’s rebellion to the dynasty in the epoch of Al-Ma’mun.
