Abstract

There are many genetic which effect this fenotipic character, such as hybrid. In increasing of mulberry hybrids, it is needed to identify the characteristic of those hybrids. The purpose of this research is to identify morphological characteristics among mulberry hybrids. Observation was done to nine hybrids and five female, four male of mulberry. There are some similarities of morphological  characterictics i.e. : performance shcrub, pennivervis leaf, texture of leaf bottom smooth, phyllotaxis 2/5, leaf type singular, stem type woody, stem size cylinder, growth erectus, branch type monopodial, growth of branch patens, root type radix primaria, shoot position axillaris and it has stypulla. Differences of the characteristic on mulberry can be seen at leaf type shape, leaf bottom shape, leaf side, texture of leaf surface, leaf color, leaf index length/width, average of petiole length, lentisel density on surface stem, stem color, stem diameter, and average of internodal distance.

Abstract

The quality of Santalum album seedling is influenced by growing media where their root grow and develop. This research was conducted to confirm that organic growing media is a good characteristics as top soil media and to determine the quality index value as indicator of seedling quality. There types of media; top soil, composted sawdust and pure sawdust were arranged in a completely randomized design with 4 replicates of 5 seeds. The observation periode was 8 month, from January until September 2007. The resuly showed that index value for S, album seedling in organic media is as relatively high as in top soil media; 1,42 for top soil, 1,10 for composted sawdust and 1,08 for pure sawdust.

Abstract

Ulin (Eusideroxylon zwageri) has much bigger seed compared to others tree species. This condition poses some difficulties in seed collecting and seed transporting from seed collecting area to nursery. The aim of this research is to examine the correlation between Ulin seed length with stem and root length in nursery. The study used 4 provenances and 15 seeds per provenance. Regresion analyzes showed that seed length variable (X) versus stem length (Y1) has formula Y1=  9,601 + 0,446 X and seed length variable (X) versus root length (Y2) has formula Y1= 5,884 + 0,428 X.  From both formula showed that seed length variable (X) are not significant to stemp length and root length variable.

Abstract

Research on tisuk (Hibiscus macrophyllus) wildlings was conducted in the private forest area in Pasirbatang Village, Manonjaya Sub-District, Tasikmalaya District. The material of tisuk wildings was grown in nursery area of Ciamis Forestry Research Institute. The research was conducted on September 2007, starting with the private forest observation, which covers the potency of natural seedling spreading and the measurement of 2 years old-tisuk wildling, which came from natural seedling. The diameter growth of 2 years old-tisuk natural seedling that belong to the private forest farmer are 5.6 cm, 4.9 cm and 7.1 cm, while its height are 6.0 cm, 6.3 cm and 7.1 cm. The huge number of tisuk wildling availability under the tisuk stand has high potency to be the material for forest regeneration. Some of its techniques are covering the big tree selection, tisuk natural seedling selection, taking off, packaging, tisuk natural leaf cutting, replacement and seedling maintaining.

Abstract

Since the regreening project launched by presidential decree in 1976/1977 and the movement of National Land Forest Rehabilitation (GNRHL) in 2003, community forest plantation area is increasing and inclined to be more independent in their plantation management. In Wonogiri district the community forest achieve the total area of 27.433 hectare, spreaded out in 25 subdistricts. Disease on forest plantation is one of factors that causing significant risk and has to be tackled seriously. The odjective is to identify plant disease (particularly on Teak and Acacia) in community forest of Wonogiri district, Central Java. This is a preliminary study to determine further strategy in disease management. The result showed that teak plants were attacked by bacteria of Pseudomonas tectonae (Ralstonia solanacearum). While Acacia were attacked by fungi of Meliola sp., Atelocauda digitata and Oidium sp., the three fungus attacked Acacia are obligate parasitic.
