Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan metode survei deskriptif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bahwa globalisasi mempengaruh penggunaan bahasa Indonesia. Populasi penelitian ini adalah para generasi milenial dan zilenial yang aktif menggunakan media sosial. Dalam pengambilan sampel menggunakan non-probability sampling, dengan teknik quota sampling yang merupakan sebuah teknik pengambilan sampel dari sebuah populasi hingga memenuhi jumlah kuota yang diinginkan. Adapun beberapa kriteria dalam pengambilan sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah; a) Remaja dengan rentang usia 15-27 tahun; b) aktif menggunakan media sosial; c) pernah berinteraksi dengan warga negara asing. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa adanya globalisasi mempenggaruh penggunaan bahasa Indonesia pada kalangan generasi milenial dan zilenial. Berdasarkan diagram batang penggunaan bahasa Indonesia yang baik dan benar, nilai rata-rata keseluruhan dari 50 responden adalah 52,6, dengan nilai median (nilai yang sering muncul) adalah 50. Selain itu, berdasarkan data diagram batang minat bahasa yang digunakan dan dipelajari oleh generasi milenial, mayoritas sangat minat mempelajari dan menggunakan bahasa Inggris dan bahasa asing daripada bahasa Indonesia. Hal ini dapat diartikan bahwa di era globalisasi 4.0, eksistensi bahasa Indonesia di kalangan generasi milenial dan zilenial menggalami penurunan. Kata kunci: Globalisasi, Dampak Perkembang, Teknologi Komunikasi, Bahasa. ABSTRACT This research is a quantitative study with a descriptive survey method. This research aims to find out that globalization influences the use of Indonesian. The population of this research are millennials and zilenials who are actively using social media. In the sample sampling using a non-sampling technique that is a sample sampling technique from a population to meet the desired quota. As for some criteria in this research sampling are; A) teenagers with a span of 15-27 years; B) actively using social media; C) have interacted with foreign nationals. The result of the research indicates hat globalization has cultivated the use of Indonesian among millennials and zilenial generations. Based on the correct and proper English usage bar diagram, the overall average of 50 respondents is 52.6, with the median (often established value) is 50. Furthermore, based on the data of the foreign-language tool-interest diagram used and studied by the millennials, the vast majority were interested in learning and using English and foreign languages rather than Indonesian. It can be argued that in the age of globalization 4.0, the existence of the Indonesian language among millennials and zilenial generations has been spawned a decline. Abstract

Distance learning has recently been implemented by most universities in Indonesia along with the pandemic situation. Challenges in learning and teaching have been following up during the implementation of distance learning including the emergence of communication gap or distance between lecturers and students, which is popularly known as transactional distance. The study aimed to describe the presence of lecturer-student transactional distance in terms of lecturers’ teaching reflection of their satisfaction towards online learning activities. By conducting a survey to 12 lecturers from different educational institutions and referring to the theory of Transactional Distance of Michael G. Moore, the study found that transactional distance occurred during online learning indicated by several aspects, i.e., (1) the existence of psychological gap in the course, (2) non-existence of interactive communication between lecturer and student, and (3) high rigidity of course structure.

Abstract

Penelitian ini memiliki dua tujuan: (1) mendeskripsikan bentuk integrasi dalam siaran berita pada kanal Youtube CNN Indonesia; dan (2) mendeskripsikan faktor penyebab adanya integrasi bahasa asing ke bahasa Indonesia dalam siaran berita pada kanal Youtube CNN Indonesia. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan datanya berupa teknik simak bebas libat cakap dan teknik catat. Penganalisisan data dilakukan dengan mengklasifikasikan data yang diperoleh dari siaran berita pada kanal Youtube CNN Indonesia. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari keempat bentuk integrasi, bahasa donor yang paling banyak digunakan pada siaran berita CNN Indonesia edisi 1 Mei 2021 adalah bahasa Inggris, bahasa Latin, Bahasa Yunani, bahasa Italia, bahasa Arab, dan bahasa Belanda. Adapun faktor yang memengaruhi integrasi yaitu: adanya keselarasan antara bahasa donor dengan bahasa resipien; adanya pengaruh bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa internasional, sehingga memunculkan adopsi, adaptasi, dan pungutan; adanya pengaruh bahasa nenek moyang sehingga dapat dengan mudah mengonstruksikan bahasa donor ke dalam bahasa resipien; serta adanya pengaruh bahasa latin yang kuat terhadap seluruh bahasa di dunia.

Abstract

The goal of this study was to examine the students’ perceptions on the use of E-learning as an educational method, moreover to identify the benefit and challenges of using E-learning as an educational method in the English Education Department 2019 intake at Universitas PGRI Kanjuruhan Malang. In this research, the researchers used the qualitative method. The subject of this research was 40 students of the English Education Department 2019 intake. The data were collected through questionnaires to 40 students and interviewed by ten participants. The data were analyzed by using data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusions/verification. The finding showed that of the 40 students who filled out the questionnaire, 7 students stated strongly agree and 31 students agreed that they had experience using E-learning. This means that most of the participants who have filled out the questionnaire have experience using E-learning and there are several supporting facilities for using E-learning. The students felt that E-learning is useful and interesting to use, E-learning can also add new knowledge about technology that has never been obtained before, etc. Furthermore, the problems faced by the students in using E Learning were limited availability of internet access, the students felt bored, students' learning motivation was reduced, and students found difficulty to understand the lessons.

Abstract

This study was aimed at investigating the kinds of learning style used by college students in learning English vocabulary. The researchers categorized the kinds of learning style based on Fleming’s theory into Visual (V), Aural (A), Read/Write (R), and Kinesthetic (K). Further, they used questionnaire and interview to collect the data from forty participants. The instruments were applied right after the participants finished their vocabulary course. The result of questionnaire shown that students used Kinesthetic (K) learning style for learning English in general. Meanwhile the result of the interview shown that learning style used by college students for learning English vocabulary was read/write (R) type. It can be concluded that most students used different learning styles for different purposes. The learning style can change over time according to the conditions that students need. Based on the stages of cognitive development, it can be said that college students included to adulthood which means they use abstract thought when they learnt something. They should have been able to understand the vocabulary by using visual learning style, since kinesthetic style is more suitable for children between 2 and 7 years of age than for adults. This indicates that between student’s beliefs and teacher’s beliefs are incompatible.
