Abstract

ABSTRACT. Part of deformations occurs in the structure or construction of machine elements which are subject to dynamic loading during operation due to fatigue that happens without any preliminary signs, causing significant damages and losses. Fatigue strength is a process of local change within the structure, occuring permanently with the course of time due to a condition where stress or strain occurs, causing cracks or fractures after repeated loadings. Surface roughness factor which affects fatigue was applied in analysis and machining, that samples were smoothly and roughly machined. Analysis was performed on AL 6063-TF alloy which is often used for motorized vehicles. To understand the effect of surface roughness factor on fatigue, series of fatigue strength tests were carried out using Rotary Bending Fatigue Test method until cycle values or fatigue age and certain stress value were adequately obtained to prepare a S-N semi log plot using statistical calculations.

Abstract

ABSTRACT. Satellite technology in the world was originally developed by the United States and the Soviet Union (Russia) for the interests of defense and security (military). Afterwards, other countries also developed this technology, among others, China, India, Japan, Israel, and Indonesia. Indonesia is currently developing a satellite called LAPAN TUBSAT Generation-2 with the mission of surveillance (surveillance satellite), which can be applied for military purposes. Various satellite capabilities are already developed by many countries. Recently United States has developed Geo Eyesatellite, the worlds most advanced satellite with a very highresolution. With the rapid advancement of this technology available in developed countries, the satellite technology with surveillance mission can be applied for defense and security interests in Indonesia to maintain state sovereignty.

Abstract

ABSTRACT. The objective of this study is to prepare biocoagulant from shrimp waste for municipal wastewater treatment. Shrimp waste was ground and deproteinized using NaOH solution at 100 ºC for 2 hours, then demineralized using HCl at 80 ºC for 8 hours to form chitin. The chitin was then deacetylized by NaOH solution at varied temperatures of 60-70 ºC for 4 hours of heating to form chitosan. The chitosan was then used as a biocoagulant for municipal wastewater. This study refers to jar test results, where there were parametersto be assessed, such as turbidity decrease (NTU), reduction in heavy metals levels compared to those prior to chitosan addition, pH influence on coagulation, and optimum concentration used as compared to the use of aluminium sulfate. This study revealed that pH 7 was the optimum condition.
