Abstract

Stabilizing the production of sweet pepper is importance to eliminate the fluctuation of supply and price in the market. One of these efforts is cultivation by using good cultivars and optimum fertilization. There were two treatments, namely cultivars (Hot Beauty, TM 888, and TM 999) and fertilization (600 kg/ha NPK +150 kg/ha ZA, 900 kg/ha NPK+225 kg/ha ZA, 1200 kg/ha NPK+300 kg/ha ZA, and 1500 kg/ha NPK+375 kg/ha ZA). This research used Randomized Completely Block Design by 3 replications. Result of the research showed that Hot Beauty, TM 999, and TM 888 cultivars varied in plant height, number of fruit/plant, fruit length, fruit diameter, fresh weight fruit/plant, and fresh weight fruit/plot, but generally Hot Beauty gave the highest yield. The increasing dosage of NPK and ZA would increase fruit length and diameter. Interaction between cultivar and fertilization did not affect significantly on all observed variables.

Abstract

The aim of the research was to know 1) the effect of apple solution and NPK fertilizer on the upper stem of durian brown oculation and 2) the interaction between the solution and the fertilizer on the upper stem. This research was carried out in the research experiment station, Agriculture Faculty, Jenderal Soedirman University, Purwokerto. Randomized Completely Block Design (RCBD) was used with 4 x 3 factorial repeated four times. The first factor was apple solution concentration consisted of four levels, i.e. 0, 10, 15, and 20 g per liter; the second one was dosage of NPK fertilizer consisted of three levels, i.e. 7.5, 12.5, and 17.5 g per plant. Data of variable observed were analyzed by F test continued with Least Significant Differences Test at five percent level of significant and regression analyses if needed. Result of this research showed that the apple solution significantly affected oculation sprout stem number. NPK fertilizer did not affect oculation of the stem. Interaction between given apple solution and the fertilizer to brown oculation of the stem did not significant differ. Concentration of 15 g/L from the solution could increase the number of durian brown oculation sprout.

Abstract

Poverty in rural areas is a very fundamental problem. To overcome this problem, the Government of Bantul Regency conduct business credit program for improving the welfare of economically productive group of house-wife of poor households in rural areas. This program aims to poor communities accustomed uses banking services, capital raising efforts, and enhance ability to meet basic needs especially food. This study aims to analyzed the level of the programs success in achieving its objective. The research method is qualitative methods with interactive techniques. Results showed the program is experiencing a variety of barriers, because the loan amount is relatively small and short payback period. Also, the poor do not have good mental operations, such as willingness to work hard, expertise, adequate capital, frugality, perseverance, honesty, responsibility, and not risk large losses in trading.

Abstract

The land as the ecological base of the farming system is one of the important factors for the farmers. The wrong management of the soil may cause the critical farming land. An experiment had been conducted to study the possibility of livestock development which also could improve the soil fertility in the critical land. Survey method was used in this research on the critical land decided by the Board Government of Banyumas Regency, namely, Ajibarang, Pekuncen, Gumelar, Wangon, and Lumbir Districs. The sample of villages was determined from the five districts, i.e., 50% of total villages of each district). Determination of villages were made by a Stratified Random Sampling on the basic of evaluation result both from the stand point of natural physic and from the standpoint of socio-economic. Data were collected directly and by interview supported with the previously prepared questionnaires. The result showed that all of the critical lands from five districts in Banyumas Regency were still capable to receive the livestock and could be utilized as the land of sheep and goat. The average PMH was 1291,51 ST and PMK (except Ajibarang) was 326,61 ST, although the TDN (3,1 kg/kg BK) and CP (8,8% DM) were low. It could be concluded from this research that the critical land area in Banyumas Regency was capable to make sheep and goat livestock development because the area condition was open with the area opening index of 3.366.

Abstract

Purpose of this research is to interpret model of geological structure and deepness of groundwater aquifer. The research has been done by using Geoelectric of Resistivity method at five locations or trajectories in around the agricultural farm at Kembaran and Kalimanah Subdistricts, because both regions were located in groundwater reservoir area and own the wide agricultural farm. Result indicated that geological structure model of subsurface was consisted of sandy claystone, compacted soil, harsh clayly sandstone, smooth sandstone, compacted gravel and sandstone, and sandstone very harsh. Based on the model deepness data obtained of shallow groundwater aquifer surface was between 0 and 4.33 metres measured from local topography. While deep groundwater aquifer surface was between 26.29 and 56.73 metres with the most potential aquifer formation was smooth sandstone. In general, the groundwater potency in the research area was estimated very good, so that it was suitable for exploration as the irrigation source.

Abstract

The purpose of this experiment is to know clone-resistant and better production than the screening results of shallot (Allium ascalonicum L.) clone selection in the rainy season. Ten clones were used, i.e., clone no. 1 to 10, local cultivars and Yellow Bima Brebes as controls. The experiments were carried out at the farmer garden in Klompok Brebes, Central Java. The soil was Aluvial with pH 5.6 to 6.2 at an altitude of approximately 4 meters above sea level started from December 2008-March 2009. The method used was randomized design with 12 treatment groups repeated 3 times using spacing of 15 × 20 cm. The results showed that clones no. 6 was able to survive, grow well, and produce the highest yield in the rainy season with a production of 7.78 tons -1 ha . These clones still could be improved when the plant was cultivated at a proper planting season.

Abstract

A research has been conducted to know the potency of the entomopathogenic fungus Beauveria bassiana for controlling Spodoptera litura on soybean of Slamet variety, the most effective concentration of the fungus for controlling it, and effect of the fungus on the development of S. litura larvae. It was done in the Laboratory of Plant Pests, the Department of Plant Pests and Diseases, Faculty of Agriculture, Jenderal Soedirman University, Purwokerto. The factorial CRD rd th was used with three replicates. The first factor was larval instars, i.e., 3 and 4 instar. The second -1 8 one was concentration of the fungus, i.e., control, B. bassiana of 2 g l aquadest (1.34 x 10 conidia -1 -1 8 -1 -1 8 -1 -1 8 -1 -1 l ), 4 g l (2.58 x 10 conidia l ), 6 g l (4.17 x 10 conidia l ), 8 g l (5.30 x 10 conidia l ), 10 g l 8 -1 -1 8 -1 (6.69 x 10 conidia l ), and 12 g l (8.12 x 10 conidia l ). Result of the research performed that B. bassiana was potency for controlling S. litura on soybean of Slamet variety. The highest -1 th concentration (12 g l ) of the fungus killed 56.67% of the 4 larvae instar. This fungus could lenghten development time of the larvae.

Abstract

A knowledge concerning genetic diversity of betutu is vital as a basis for their conservation. This research aimed to know genetic diversity of betutu (Oxyleoris sp.) in General Soedirman Dam located in Banjarnegara Regency and Rawa Pening Basin in Salatiga City. The perceived variable was isozyme polymorphism. Horizontal starch gel electrophoresis was used to visualize isozymes band pattern. The result is expected provide data for their management and to avoid adverse effect of inbreed pressure on the next generation. The result of showed that population of betutu from Soedirman Dam could express 12 of loci and five of them were polymorphic. The population from Rawa Pening could visualize a number of 10 loci and four of them were polymorphic. These proved that betutu population from Soedirman Dam had higher genetic diversity than those from Rawa Pening Basin. This implied that the population from Soedirman Dam could be used as local genetic resources.
