Abstract

Aims of this research were to know: 1) impact of supporting facility on motivation of plasma native chicken farmers and 2) correlation between motivation of the farmers and their facility, expectancy, and objectives. To determine the motivation rate before and after receiving facility, ujit motivation index was used including responsibilities, activities, creativity and group cooperation factors, and then continued with sign ujit. Correlation coefficient kisaran Spearman’s analysis was used to know correlation between inter-variables and motivation. Result of the research showed that there was significant (p

Abstract

Golden cyst nematode (Globodera rostochiensis) is the main nematode on potato. In recent years, the nematode has been reported at several potato production centers in Indonesia. This research aimed at knowing distribution of the nematode attacks on potato at Banjarnegara Regency and factors supporting its attack. Survey was conducted by using purposive random sampling as a sampling method. Results of the research showed that G. rostochiensis was found at three districts, i.e., Batur, Pejawaran, and Wanayasa, but its populations were still -1 concentrated at Karangtengah Village, Batur District, namely 37.28 cysts 200 ml -1 soil and 10.76 cysts plant . The nematode presumably entered Banjarnegara Regency through imported potato seedlings, available potato host, and appropriate environment temperature supporting the nematode growth and development.

Abstract

This research was conducted to know quality potential, discharge, and flowing energy of water spring of Kompleks Awar-awar Sumampir Purwokerto Utara located at rural upper end for designing rural clean water resources. Variables observed were physical and chemical water quality, need of water, discharge of the spring, and flowing energy. The result of research showed that water quality of the spring was suitable for clean water resources and drinking water resources of rural, with average discharge of water was 4.07 liter/s so it could be used to fulfill the clean water requirements of the Sumampir’s people who were not served by PDAM for 16 years (100% people), 27 years (75% people), and 37 years (60% people), and based on energy potential, available gravitation flowing system could be used if pipe minimum diameter of 3 inch was used.

Abstract

This research aimed at calculating on-farm and off-farm woman work time allocation and its contribution to farmer’s household income, understanding factors influencing the allocation, and analyzing between the allocation and family decision maker. Survey was used as research method and purpose was used for area samples at Baturraden District. Sample was obtained by cluster random sampling method. Data was analyzed by descriptive, OLS, and Harvard Analysis. Research result showed that the allocation was 271 hours per year or 1.732 hours per day. The contribution of woman labor to farmer on farmer’s household income was Rp 484,863.3 per year (4.33%). The off-farming contribution was Rp 2,177,368.8 per year (19.44%). Factors influencing negative significantly on the allocation was household and off-farm woman work allocation. Meanwhile, on-farm man work factor influenced positive significantly. Interaction between woman work time allocation and family or household decision maker had closely proportional relationship especially at social and household activity decision maker. On the other hand, man and woman position was equal for making decision. At productive field, however, control and decision was still dominated by man. Key words: Farmer’s household income, Woman work time

Abstract

Identification of land characteristics to evaluate the rubber plantation system was carried out at the Kerinci and its surrounding area, Riau from May 2002 up to October 2003. The objectives of this research were to identify land characteristics of plantation system influencing its production and benefit value, and to compile criteria of site specific. Location was identified by the Land-sat 7 ETM+ band 347 RGB designed in the land use utilization type (LUT): garden and estate. In each LUT it was done by measurement of land characteristics, cost the inputs, and price the benefits. The land characteristics were evaluated by parametric method; the benefit value was calculated by benefit-cost ratio (BCR); the suitability criteria of site specific were compiled by cluster analysis. The results showed that the production suitability criteria were (kg wet rubber/ha/yr): I (2,062.28-2,099.56); II (1,523.44-2,062.28); III (996.88-1,523.44); IV (933.13-996.88), the economic suitability criteria were (BCR): I (2.44-2.58); II (1.83-2.44); III (1.51-1.83); IV (1.32-1.51), and would be determined by drainage, base saturation, exchangeable Al, and organic-C. These criteria could be used for evaluating suitability of the rubber plantation system at the Kerinci and its surrounding area.

Abstract

The objective of the research was to study the effect of NAA and GA application 3 on fruit retention of mango cv. Gadung 21. The experiment was conducted from July to December 2002, located at mango orchard of PT Fajar Mekar Indah, Pasuruan. A randomized block design with two factors was used in this experiment. The first factor was concentration of NAA, i.e., 0, 10, 30, and 100 ppm. The second one was concentration of GA , i.e. 0, 30, and 100 ppm. Each treatment was 3 replicated three times. Result of the research showed that the application of NAA inclined to reduce percentage of fruit drop per panicle. The application of 100 ppm NAA gave the highest number of fruit per panicle (1.03) and weight of fruit per tree (20.55 kg). The application of 100 ppm GA gave the highest weight of fruit 3 per tree (20.52 kg). Interaction between concentration of NAA and GA did not 3 influence all observed variables.

Abstract

This research aimed at studying the role of tithe in developing income of animal farmer families and the effect of the tithe on educational continuity of the family members. Result of the research showed that the families (MPZ) received the tithe had food and tak-food outcome in amount of Rp 345,228.80 larger than tak-tithe receiver families (MNZ) Rp 205,152.84. The long tithe fund giving period resulted in the occurrence of life style difference between MPZ and MNZ families. Obviously, there was a tendency that MPZ families had an opportunity to educate on Elementary School level compared to MNZ families.

Abstract

The aim of study was to identify the progress of crops diversification representing crops distribution pattern as long as agricultural development had been taking place in Indonesia and to identify the effect of diversification on increasing productivity in order to see its contribution on agricultural sector growth. The result showed that the progress of the diversification was parallel with agricultural development in Indonesia. While agricultural development run progressively, the diversification characterized by index diversification became to expand. The condition indicated that the crops became more competitive. Paddy, sweet potatoes, and cassava were the highest comparative advantages of food crops because of their productivity and index diversification among other food crops. Those three crops were the biggest activator of agricultural transformation in agriculture development in Indonesia. As long as agricultural development occurred in Indonesia, agricultural growth rate was determined dominantly by productivity of land. The sequence of contribution to the growth rate was paddy (17.5%), peanut (17.2%), sweet potatoes (15.0%), cassava (11.6%), soybean (11.6%), and maize (5.4%).
