Abstract

The final stage of life in the elderly experienced changes of physical, psychological, or social that can effect instability of self concept. The aim of this research was to analyzed the effect of cognitive function, social interaction to self concept of elderly widows and widowers. The location of this research in Timbulharjo village, Sewon sub-district, Bantul district, Yogyakarta who chosen purposively with the consideration of the region which have the most elderly. The sample of this research was the elderly people aged more than 60 years old that have been abandoned by partner of life during grater than or equal to 2 years a go. Sample total of this research were 30 elderly widows and 30 elderly widowers. This research showed that there were not difference of cognitive function and social interaction between of elderly widows and elderly widowers, however there was difference of self concept between of elderly widows and widowers. In addition, ages and education have correlation with cognitive function, and social interaction have correlation with self concept. Meanwhile, marital status have negative influence and social interaction have positive influence to self concept so that widows status can decrease self concept of elderly, and better social interaction than better of self concept of elderly.

Abstract

The success of elderly life is characterized by the comforting conditions of loving care and attention from family and relatives, health and happy. This study aimed of this research are to determined the different, correlation and effect of communication with children and children in law and social support to success of life on elderly men and women. This research sample are choosen purposively as many as 60 young elderly aged 60-69 years old which is divided into 30 elderly men and 30 elderly women who still have a partner, children and children in law. The largest proportion of elderly on variabel communication elderly-children, communication elderly-children in law, social support and successful in elderly is in the medium category. Communication elderly-children and communication elderly-children in law has a significant positive correlation with social support. Social support is related and has a significant positive effect on the success of elderly life ,it mean that the higher social support will increase the success of elderly life

Abstract

Aim of this study is to examine the influence of social support and financial management toward family well-being in early marriage. Research was located in Cibeber II village and Karehkel village, Leuwiliang sub-district, Bogor district, West Java. Samples of this study are 60 women from an early marriage family (under 20 years old) whose children are under five years old, and willingly participate in this study. Samples were chosen purposively. Social support were positively significant correlation with financial management, objective well-being and subjective well-being. The factors that affect objective family well-being are per capita income and financial management. On the subjective family well-being, the factor of affect is per capita income and emotional social support

Abstract

In every stage of human lives as well as later adulthood (elderly), there are developmental tasks to be attained and demand the elderly to adapt to various changes both from the internal and external environment. The aim of this research was to analyze the influence of ageism and generativity on the developmental task of elderly widower and widow. The cross-sectional study was used as the design of this research. The research was conducted in Empang Village, South Bogor Sub-District and West Cilendek Village, West Bogor Sub-District, Bogor City. As many as 60 persons were involved as research sample, consisted of 30 elderly widowers and 30 elderly widows which were chosen by snow-ball techniques. The result showed that there was no significant difference in developmental task of elderly widower and widow. The category of ageism was low while generativity and developmental task were moderate. There were significant positive correlations and influences of the length of education and generativity on developmental tasks of elderly widower and widow.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the influence of family characteristic, family capitals, and livelihood strategy toward family well-being. The sample of this study was family with wife who worked as a tea picker in Purwabakti, Pamijahan, Bogor. There were 100 families chosen randomly in this research. Family well-being was observed based on indicators defined by National Population and Family Planning Board (NPFPB) and Statistics Indonesia (SI). The analyses used in this research were descriptive analyses, independent sample T-test, and logistic regression. The result showed husband age and family size negatively affected the family well-being. Physical capital and financial capitals positively affected the family well-being. Meanwhile, livelihood strategy did not significantly affect the family well-being.Keywords: family capitals, family well-being, livelihood strategies Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh karakteristik keluarga, kepemilikan modal keluarga, dan strategi nafkah terhadap kesejahteraan keluarga. Contoh dalam penelitian ini adalah keluarga dengan istri yang bekerja sebagai buruh pemetik teh di Desa Purwabakti, Kecamatan Pamijahan, Kabupaten Bogor. Contoh dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 100 orang yang dipilih secara acak. Kesejahteraan keluarga diukur dengan menggunakan indikator BKKBN dan BPS. Analisis yang digunakan merupakan analisis deskriptif, uji beda independent sample T-test dan uji regresi logistik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan umur suami dan besar keluarga berpengaruh negatif signifikan terhadap kesejahteraan keluarga. Modal fisik dan modal finansial berpengaruh positif signifikan terhadap kesejahteraan keluarga. Sementara itu, strategi nafkah tidak berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kesejahteraan keluarga.Kata kunci : kesejahteraan keluarga, modal keluarga, strategi nafkah

Abstract

The objective of this study is to analyze economic pressure, livelihood strategy, and well-being of families in Cimanuk Watershed. This study used a cross-sectional study design. As many as 72 samples of lower middle class families (determined by Poverty Line of BPS 2013) who have toddler and school age children were chosen puposively. This study was conducted in Garut District and Indramayu District. The results showed that inspite of being in poverty, only one out of three families felt highly economic pressure, and one out of ten families perceived poorly well-being. Family economic pressure was affected by the region difference, education level of father, and ownership of financial capital. Meanwhile, family well-being was affected by the education level of the father, financial capital, social capital, access to the environment, economic pressure, and livelihood diversification. Livelihood diversification is the strategy that most poor families did in Cimanuk Watershed. Livelihood diversification of families was affected by the age of the wife, expenditure per capita, social capital, and access to the environment.

Abstract

Cash Conditional Transfer (CCT) or Program Keluarga Harapan (PKH) is one of the attempts of  Indonesian government to alleviate poverty. This study conducted in eight villages in Dramaga District, Bogor Regency for six months. This study aimed to analyze the difference of economic pressure and families coping strategies of economic functions between pre and post the family got CCT’s funds and to analyze the relationship of socioeconomic and demographic characteristics, economic pressure and coping strategies of economic functions. By using systematic random sampling, this study produced 150 samples. Family size, amount of debt, the ratio of debt and assets, and economic pressure significantly and positively correlated with the total coping strategies both in pre and post-CCT. On the other hand, the total coping strategies both in the pre and post-CCT also significantly and negatively correlated with the level education of wives. In addition, the husbands and wives age significantly and positively related to the coping strategies during post CCT, while the total family income correlated significantly and negatively.

Abstract

This research aimed to identify vulnerability and well-being of children in a family of farmers, identify the typology of vulnerability and well-being of children in the family of farmers, and analyze the relationship between family characteristics, characteristics of children with the vulnerability and well-being of children. The population in this research is family farmers who have children of 4 and 5th grade who reside in the village Sindangjaya, District Cipanas, Cianjur with a sample of 35 children. Sampling was conducted using probability sampling method with random sampling techniques. The results showed that the internal susceptibility to family farmers is low, relatively low external vulnerability, and low well-being. Typology vulnerability of children and the well-being of children in a family of farmers included in Type 1 and Type 4. There was a significant negative correlation between family size and order of the child with the child's welfare, but there was no significant relationship between the characteristics of families and children with children's vulnerability.

Abstract

Lagging economic conditions, especially in rural areas cause residents leave their hometown or become a migrant to get a job in order to meet the family needs. This study aimed to analyze the influence of family characteristics, family interaction, and decision-making on marital quality in families with migrant husband. The design of this study was cross sectional study involving wives, who had migrant husbands and teenage children (age 12-18), as respondents. The study was conducted in Banyuresmi Village, Garut Regency, West Java, Indonesia which were selected purposively. Data were collected through interview using questionnaire. The results showed that family income and conjugal interaction were the factors that allowed an increase in marital quality. On the other hand, decision-making did not have a significant effect on marital quality of the family with migrant husband

Abstract

Poverty, limited employment opportunities, and low rate of labor wage cause couples undergo long distance married because the husband has to work far from the house. This gives impact to family subjective well-being so that the family need to role a family function in order to minimize conflicts. This research aimed to analyze the effect of family function and conflict on family subjective well-being with migrant husband. There were 60 samples in  this research which consisted of family with migrant husband teenager children (12-17 years old) in Banyuresmi village, Garut. The wife was the respondent of this research. The sampling technique used here was nonprobability sampling method with form purposive sampling. The data were collected by interviewing the respondents using a questionnaire. The results showed that most of the samples were categorized into families which had good family function, moderate family conflict, and moderate family subjective well-being. Family function affect  significantly positive to family subjective well-being. Parental-teenagers conflict affect significantly negative to family subjective well-being.
