Abstract

Vegetation analysis in Buyan-Tamblingan Nature Recreation Area aimed to identified whether there were differences between the two communities in terms of vegetation structure and composition. NMDS ordination revealed data that support the hypotheses that the two communities were different (RANOSIM=0.7 p<0,001). Species diversity was also different between these communities. Buyan area had higher diversity index (Shannon 2,00) compare to Tamblingan (1,60). Differences in tourism activities and impacts were proposed to be one of the reason behind the results. Restoration in a form of reintroduction, to reintroduce and re-planting native or local species is proposed to be conducted in the Buyan Lake areas to conserve the ecosystem and prevent exotic species to become invasives and dominates the area.

Abstract

The destruction of nature is caused by the wrong human’s point of view towards neighbourhoods. Ecofeminism assumes the caused factor of nature destruction comes from patriarchy culture which more on dualistic logic, hierarchy and the fight for domination. The thought of patriarchy causes destruction of nature and oppression of woman. Ecofeminism thought is interesting to be researched because it offers alternative vision which more sociable and gender balanced. The aim of this research is to explicit, critically evaluate, formulate concept of ecofemisthics ethics thought comprehensively and to reveal new vision relating to keep forest preservation. The chosen literature is analyzed using philosophy method: description, interpretation, and holistic. The result of this research shows that nature preservation is lasting and oppression towards woman is stopped if society abandoned patriarchy thought. Ecofeminism develops the concept of care ethics holistically, interactively, non-reduction, and participatively. Principe of ethics which need to be concerned are responsibility towards the whole biosphere, cosmic solidarity, keeping balance with nature, equal relation, careens and simplicity. The excess of ecofeminism succed in realizing the danger of patriarchy thought towards woman and nature. The weakness of it is that it generalizes and universalizes feministhics values uniformity towards all women instead of a priory negative towards the quality of masculinity values. Ecofeminism develops human moral responsibility based on women special experiences.

Abstract

The study was conducted in 2008 in Gianyar, Badung and Denpasar. The goal was to inventory and describing the residential waste management system conducted by the Balinese, and to identify the various problems faced in community-based waste management. To achieve these objectives was done by gathering data through observation, interview and literature study. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive qualitative. The results showed that some of the constraints faced by village institution in waste management, namely: 1) low level of public awareness, 2) the difficulty of getting land for a depot for waste management; 3) the condition of garbage in front of the house (TPS) are not disaggregated (organic and inorganic waste mixed), 4) waste transportation time is not correct 5) lack thrasher; 6) marketing of compost that is not smooth and very limited; 8) waste processing workers’ health problems, and 9) the limited presence of operational funding for waste management. Socio-cultural-based waste management can be done to actualize and enhance the role of traditional institutions (traditional village/banjar) as its support the vision and mission of Tri Hita Karana; change the paradigm of the Balinese culture (cultural engineering) in waste management; actualization of cultural values and the sanctity of the environment (resource of vital nature) and area / sanctuary, reviving the tradition of mutual help to clean of the environment, promoting efforts to 3 R (reduce, reuse and recycle) waste of rural community residents; enhance the active role of housewives (PKK) in waste management, implementation of household and environmental management rules (waste) effectively through the mechanism of reward and punishment in the form of customary rules (awig-awig).

Abstract

Reforestation program of bare land with planting several species of trees has been done on several areas around Mountain and Lake Batur. So that, the study of trees vegetation analysis and estimating of carbon stock needs to be done as well. A total 2400 m2 Sampling Plot with 6 plots (20 x 20 m) in four areas has been established to determine trees structure, composition, and carbon stock (above ground) in around Mountain and Lake Batur Kintamani. Enumeration of all tree species revealed that there were 11 species and 10 families with Eucalyptus urophylla (Myrtaceae) was the most abundant species and family in the Sampling Plot with INP was 97.24%. Shannon Index (H’) revealed that tree species composition was 0,8. It means the diversity of trees is low. The amount of carbon stock (above ground) was 28.0669 ton per 0.24 Ha. It means, total carbon stock in 400 Ha secondary forest around Mountain and Lake Batur was 46,778.17 ton.

Abstract

The objective of this paper is to describe the relationship between CG (Cloud Ground) lightning observation data to rainfall in Java region. CG lightning data obtained by using Lightning Detector that is able to track low frequency of radio signals from electrical processes lightning discharge and installed in Bandung Geophysics Station. For better resolution, data is limited within a radius of 10 km square of study area. The results showed a strong relationships between CG and rainfall (r2 = 0.9) and the dominance of CG+ compared with CG- throughout the season with a peak in the MAM (March-April-May) for Bandung (40.6%) and DJF ( December-January-February) for Semarang (48%). Understanding of the peculiarities of lightning activity will provide important information in the structure, the growth of clouds, atmospheric labilitas or as a warning extreme weather. Therefore, it is possible to utilize CG lightning as predictors for rainfall prediction.
