Abstract

One of the disadvantages of oil palm development is the limitedness of fertile soil. A constraint faced by both big plantation and small holders is the high cost of crop maintenance. Around 60% of the total crop maintenance is used for fertilizing the crop. This study aims at finding out phosphate absorbtion and the growth of oil palm seedling with the addition of Arbuscullar Mycorrhizal Fungi (AMF) and different dosages of phosphate fertilizer. A factorial Complete Randomized Design with three replications has been used. The first factor was the addition of AMF consisting of three levels: M0=0 g AMF polybag-1, M1=5 g AMF polybag -1, and M2 = 10 g AMF polybag -1. The second factor was the addition of four levels of phosphate using TCP-36: P0= 0 g TCP-36 polybag-1, P =15 g TCP-36 polybag-1, P2=30 g TCP-36 polybag-1, and P3=45 g TCP-36 polybag-1. Results showed that the Application of 10 g AMF polybag-1was able to increase P-absorbtion and the growth of oil palm seeding such as fresh crown weight, dry crown weight, fresh root weight, dry and root weight. Application of 45 g TCP-36 polybag -1was able to increase the growth such as plant height, dry crown weight, fresh root weight, and dry root weight. Abstract

Role of cassava in the national economy continued to decline because it is not a priority commodity. As a result, crop acreage is declining and productivity did not increase significantly. This situation also occurred in West Sumatra Province. The cause is not yet precise technology to increase the income of cassava farmers and the diversity of the community's ability to adjust the pattern that has been owned by the available land resources. Meanwhile, demand for cassava will continue to increase along with the continued rise and soaring fuel prices (fuel) in the world market for cassava is one source of bio-ethanol to substitute a premium. This article contains about the problems of cassava and technological support for the development of cassava in West Sumatra. The methodology of writing a book study (literature) on cassava commodity that comes from books, proceedings, journals, papers and others. As a result, the development of cassava in West Sumatra to be directed mainly on dry land agroecosystem. Based on the type of climate and land type, almost all areas in West Sumatra has the potential to be developed as a regional center for cassava production. To improve cassava production strategies are needed, among other things: (1) The addition of harvest area, and (2) Intensification of quality improvement. Addition of harvest area include: (a) opening of a new land, (b) multiple cropping, and (c) increase harvest index. While improving the quality of intensification can be done with the application of several alternative technologies in cultivation, among others: (1) high yielding varieties, (2) preparation of seedlings, (3) land preparation, (4) planting, (5) fertilization, (6) plant maintenance; and (7) harvest. Results of analysis of farming cassava variety Darul Hidayah show farmers the benefits of Rp. 34,110,000, - for 12 months and R/C ratio value = 3.46. Abstract

Leafminers, Liriomyza huidobrensis (Blanchard) (Diptera: Agromyzidae) known as main pest at vegetable and ornamental crop. Hemiptarsinus varicornis (Girault) (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae) is one of ectoparasitoid larvae of L. huidobrensis that usually find in the field, however the levels of parasitism at field relative lower. Therefore we need the conservation technology of parasitoid in order to its population overflow so that its performance increases. Rorippa indica (L) have potential as reservoir of parasitoid H. varicornis, so that can be used as conservation medium of H. varicornis. Planting weeds R. indica among of chickpea crop, can decraese the population of adult and larvae L. huidobrensis significantly, increase adult population H. varicornis and larvae population L. huidobrensis parasitism by H. varicornis. Growth rate of population adult H. varicornis at block without weeds R. indica follow the pattern of regretion equation Y=0,1312X–0,2246 and Y=0,7172X+1,1 while at the block planted weeds R. indica. Growth rate of larvae population L. huidobrensis at block without weeds R. indica follow the pattern of regretion equation Y=0,9315X–0,9835 and Y=0,8647X+1,0875 while at the block planted weeds R. indica. Weeds R. indica can be used as reservoar parasitoid H. varicornis in the effort the conservation parasitoid.
