Abstract

ABSRTACTThe aim of this research is to know students’ ability in writing an English analytical exposition text. It is also toidentify the kind of errors and to percentage those errors. Research method that is used to analyze the error is themethod of collecting data through survey and the descriptive method to describe the error that is made by studentsin writing an English analytical exposition text. After the data had been analyzed, the writer concluded that out of20 research samples, error of addition is the most error made by the student. It is 29.09%. While, the lowest error iserror of ordering. It is 9.09%.Keywords: error analysis, English analytical exposition

Abstract

Abstact: the purpose of this activity is so that the volunteers / instructors at the Gemma Insani Indonesia Foundation can increase their students' learning motivation, also in order to increase their English vocabulary as a provision to study in elementary school. Generally, teachers only briefly introduce vocabulary and then invite children to recite it and the learning process that occurs is that children face a monotonous learning process. This is the reason why the results of the learning do not give any results when the child enters elementary school level. This is one of the challenges of the teacher or instructor to use learning media that are interesting and fun. One of the effective media in learning English vocabulary is game, cross word puzzle. The output that will be generated is that volunteers can apply the cross word puzzle game in teaching English vocabulary. Key word: Cross Word Puzzle, motivation, and English vocabulary Abstrak: Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah agar para relawan/pengajar di Yayasan Gemma Insani Indonesia dapat meningkatkan motivasi belajar peserta didiknya, juga agar dapat meningkatkan kosakata bahasa Inggris sebagai bekal untuk belajar di sekolah dasar. Umumnya, Guru hanya sepintas mengenalkan kosa kata lalu mengajak anak untuk melafalkannya saja dan proses pembelajaran yang terjadi adalah anak-anak menghadapi suatu proses belajar yang monoton. Hal ini menjadi penyebab mengapa hasil dari pembelajaran tersebut tidak memberikan hasil apapun ketika anak memasuki jenjang Sekolah Dasar. Ini merupakan salah satu tantangan guru ataupun pengajar untuk menggunakan media pembelajaran yang menarik dan menyenangkan. Salah satu media yang efektif dalam pembelajaran kosa kata Bahasa Inggris adalah permainan cross word puzzle. Luaran yang akan dihasilkan adalah para relawan dapat menerapkan metode permainan cross word puzzle dalam pengajaran kosa kata bahasa Inggris.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk untuk mengetahui apakah ada pengaruh yang signifikan antara pola kalimat bahasa Inggris dan penguasaan kosakata terhadap keterampilan menulis teks analytical baik secara individual maupun simultan. Penelitian ini diadakan di SMAN 1 Cileungsi siswa kelas X1 dengan  jumlah sampel 60 siswa yang diambil secara acak. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah ex post facto. Data penguasaan pola kalimat bahasa Inggris, penguasaan kosakata dan keterampilan menulis teks analitycal diperoleh melalui test. Data dianalisis menggunakan metode statistic deskriptif, koefisien korelasi ganda, dan analisis regresi ganda. Untuk menguji statistic menggunakan uji T dan uji F. hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa ada pengaruh yang signifikan pada pola kalimat bahasa Inggris dan penguasaan kosakata terhadap keterampilan menulis teks analytical siswa baik secara individual maupun simultan. Hal ini ditunjukan oleh hasil regresi ganda R= 0.517 dengan kontribusi sebesar 26.7 %, dan Fobserved 10.386 dengan nilai sig= 0.000<0.05. Kata Kunci: Pola Kalimat Bahasa Inggris, Kosakata, dan Keterampilan Menulis

Abstract

People who  are capable  of speaking  and  writing two  languages well  arecalled   "bilingual",   they  commonly   switch   a   language   to  another   in   their communication,  that  is  code switching.  This  study  focuses  on  analysing  codeswitching used by  Indonesian Celebrities in Social Media, using theory of code  switching proposed by Romaine  in Susanto (2008)  and Hoffman (1992).The  aims  of  this  research are  1).  to  describe  and  analyzes  the  types  of  codeswitching and 2). To find the most dominant type of them in Social-Media. This study  investigates code switching  used in  Social Media. The  objectives of this  study are  to find out types and  the most dominant  type of  code switching used by Indonesian Celebrities in Social Media. This  study uses  descriptive  qualitative approach.  The  data  are collected from the utterances of Maudy Ayunda and Boy William as Indonesian Celebrities which are analyzed  by using  Romaine  in  Susanto (2008)  and  Hoffman  (1992)  theory oncode switching. It is found that from three videos on social media, 20 data are found and classified into three types of code switching. There are 7 data of inter-sentential of code switching and 12 intra-sentential, and 1 of tag switching. Key words: sociolinguistics, code switching, Social-Media

Abstract

Acquisition of a second language means a human process of acquiring the ability to generate, capture, and use words unconsciously to communicate. This study aims to find out what vocabulary three-year-old children receive from their habit of watching YouTube videos and their parents' habits at home. This study uses a qualitative method with descriptive explanations. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation and interviews. The results of this study found that subjects of second language skills in English were evident from their understanding of the questions and videos that they had watched repeatedly and the formation of their parents' habits. Mastery of a second language was also seen in the subject's ability to name food, fruits, and animals and to name simple verbs and verb phrases in English. The study results showed that the issue acquired 46 English vocabulary

Abstract

Language acquisition cannot just be acquired from birth. There is a process and stages in acquiring a language. Language is obtained because of the continuous practice factor. It is possible for someone who already has a mother tongue to have a second language (B2) which is used as a communication tool alongside the first language. Acquisition of a second language can be obtained through the influence of the environment or activities carried out continuously. This study will describe how the effect of viewing on social media YouTube affects the acquisition of a second language for a five years old girl. This research uses qualitative methods with descriptive explanations. The results of this study found that the subject's second language proficiency in English was evident from his understanding of the films and videos she had watched repeatedly. His mastery of a second language can also be seen in the ability of the subject to mention the objects around her, the names of fruits and animals, and to be able to make simple sentences in English.Keywords: Language acquisition, second language, YouTube.
