Abstract

Mangroves are plants that live in tidal or interface areas between terrestrial and marine ecosystems in tropical and subtropical regions. Mangrove ecosystem is one of the coastal ecosystems that have a very important role, especially for organisms, namely as a supplier of nutrients produced by mangrove litter. An observation regarding litter productivity is still limited in Papua, especially in the city of Merauke. The method used in this study is the transect method, using 3 (three) transects. Mangrove litter is taken by using a litter trap container placed under the mangrove tree. The results obtained from litter production in each transect are as follows transect 1 of 167.8 g/m²/Month, Transect 2 of 65.4 g/m²/Month, and Transect 60 g/m²/Month while density mangrove in each transect 1 transect has a higher tree density value of 65 Ind/ m² while in Transect 2 it has a total litter production of 32 Ind / m² and the mangrove density value in Transect 3 is lower compared to stations 1 and 2 which are 25 Ind/m².

Abstract

Environmental degradation and the utilization of excess are very influential in a reduction of thepotential of Turbinidae Gastropod Resources. Morphology of shells can changes due to adaptation tothe surrounding environment resulting in misidentification. This study aims to analyze morphology andmolecular character of Turbinidae. Morphometric analysis is done by comparing the measureddimensions of the shell, while the molecular identification is done by using the DNA barcoding usingCOI gene to species identification. The results showed a comparison of growth between thedimensions shell of the Lunella sp. showed the negative allometric and positive allometric. Characterof shell growth between dimensions of the Lunella sp. shows the negative allometric and positiveallometric. Molecular analysis identified Turbinidae was found Lunella sp. its similar to DNAsequence Lunella sp. Sulawesi. The molecular analysis identifies Turbinidae found is Lunella sp. withsimilarities of 98.41 and 98.31%. The environmental conditions can affect change the morphology andgenetic of Turbinidae. DNA barcoding has been successful to identify Turbinidae gastropods.

Abstract

Mantis shrimp is one of the marine organisms that has a very abundant diversity of species. The similarity of morphology of this group make it difficult to identify morphologically. Therefore, identification was carried out using a DNA barcoding approach. The purpose of this study was to identify the mantis shrimp species from Manokwari waters using molecular techniques. The CO1 gene fragments were amplified by using LCO and HCO primers. The DNA sequences obtained were analyzed for homology, phylogeny, and genetic distance using MEGA X software. A total of 537 base pairs of CO1 gene fragments of mantis shrimp from Manokwari were obtained. The results of the homology analysis on GenBank, show the highest similarity of 91.18% with sequences from the genus Gonodactylus. Analysis of phylogenetic tree and genetic distance showed the same results and supported each other with homology analysis on GenBank data.

Abstract

Species identification is very important and an important part of bioecological studies, so phylogenetic studies of Cerithidea anticipata (Iredale, 1929) was conducted in September 2020 to identify C. anticipata (Iredale, 1929) based on DNA barcoding techniques. Samples of C. anticipata (Iredale, 1929) were collected from the mangrove ecosystem of Payum Merauke Beach Papua (Indonesia), where the genes used were primary COI Gene forward LCO1490 and reverse HCO2198. The result of DNA amplification obtained DNA sequence length of 660 bp, then based on the identification of Basic Local Alignment Search Tools (BLAST) obtained a similarity level of 98.42% and phylogenetic reconstruction showed the existence of grouping based on the degree of similarity and genetic distance between populations. Keywords: Cerithidea anticipata; COI genes; DNA barcoding; phylogeneticsAbstrakIdentifikasi spesies sangat penting dilakukan dan menjadi bagian penting dalam studi bioekologi, sehingga kajian filogenetik Cerithidea anticipata (Iredale, 1929) telah dilakukan pada bulan September 2020 dengan tujuan untuk mengidentifikasi C. anticipata (Iredale, 1929) berdasarkan teknik DNA barcoding. Sampel C. anticipata (Iredale, 1929) dikoleksi dari ekosistem mangrove Pantai Payum Merauke Papua (Indonesia), dimana gen yang digunakan adalah Gen COI primer forward LCO1490 dan reverse HCO2198. Abstract

Gastropods Conus spp. is a macrozoobenthic organism that is abundant in coastal waters and is consumed by coastal communities. Conus is a carnivorous organism that lives permanently at the bottom of the waters and has the property of accumulating pollutant materials such as pesticides, carbonates and heavy metals into the body's tissues through the food chain. The aim of this study was to identify the gastropods species Conus spp. from the Manokwari Coastal Waters. The available research method is quantitative descriptive research. The target species in this study were gastropods of the genus Conus spp. collected from the Manokwari Coastal Waters. A total of 27 individuals from 6 species of Conus spp. collected from 3 observation stations. Gastropods Conus spp. 6 species were found, namely: 1) Conus leopardus; 2) Conus imperialis; 3) Conus eburneus; 4) Conus virgo; 5) Conus planorbis, and 6) Conus lividus. The air quality parameters measured were within the appropriate range for the Gastropods Conus spp.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the diversity of fish species caught on the Ndalir Coast of Merauke Regency. This research was conducted in Juli-August of 2020. The determination of the sampling points at the research location used the purposive random sampling method with two observation stations. Analysis of the research data using relative abundance (Kr), Shannon-Wienner index (H'), uniformity index (E), and dominance index (C), The number of fish catches during the study time was 431 which were divided into 12 species of fish. Station two has a greater number of catches than station one. The highest relative abundance was tongue fish (Cynoglossus abbreviation) (Station I) and mullet (Mugil cephalus) (Station II). The diversity index value at the two observation stations is in the medium category. The uniformity and dominance index values show that the species at the two research stations are evenly distributed with no dominating species.

Abstract

Penaeid Shrimp (Crustacea: Decapoda) is an important fishery commodity in human life both in terms of economy, ecology, and nutrition. Penaeid shrimp are widely distributed and abundant on the coast of Merauke and become one of the leading commodities in the fisheries sector. The identification problem in the Penaeid shrimp group is a problem that still often occurs today. Identification problems are often not carried out because they are considered unimportant even though they can be important information for conservation and sustainable management. This study was conducted to identify the Penaeid Shrimp from Payum Beach, Merauke Regency, Papua by using a DNA barcoding approach with the Cytochrome Oxidase I Gene. The results of the analysis showed that the species of specimens was Mierspenaeopsis sculptilis (Heller, 1862) with a similarity level of 97.38%. Genetic distance and level of DNA similarity are very influential in phylogenetic reconstruction. Identification with DNA barcoding has succeeded in identifying species quickly and accurately and can be used to confirm previously identified species based on morphological characters.
