Abstract

Cangkang kemiri merupakan bagian dari buah kemiri yang telah menjadi limbah bagi sebagianmasyarakat, terutama penduduk desa penghasil buah kemiri. Tujuan program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah untuk memberikan edukasi dan praktek pembuatan briket dengan memanfaatkan limbah cangkang kemiri sebagai bahan baku utama. Hasil Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat menunjukkan bahwa masyarakat Desa Maikang Kecamatan Alor Selatan Kabupaten Alor-NTT telah memperoleh pengetahuan tentang peluang pemanfaatan cangkang kemiri dalam pembuatan briket sebagai alternatif bahan bakar sekaligus telah memperoleh pengetahuan tentang cara pembuatan briket.

Abstract

Undertaking farming in the yard has several functions, including meeting community needs, increasing income, also supporting food security, and beautifying the area around the house. The purpose of this community service is to provide knowledge and assistance to the Doelolong community about farming by utilizing community yards. The method used is counseling and mentoring, data collection techniques, and data analysis. The results of community service show that the average area of the family yard used is 128.86 m². From this area, the net profit is Rp. 177,634, or 76% of the proceeds from the sale. Meanwhile, when compared with the average household income of farmers, there was an increase of 26.72%.Keywords: undertaking farming, yardland, community, village, income

Abstract

Clean water is one of the human's main needs. Dug well water in Tombang, used for various needs. However, the dug well water has been polluted by E. Coli bacteria which is suspected to be due to the disposal of rubbish and waste carelessly and also the distance of latrines and dug wells that are very close together. Therefore it is important to do water purification using agricultural waste that is not utilized. The analysis showed that the purification of dug well water in Tombang with rice husk charcoal had reduced E. Coli bacteria by 55.6% with MPN pattern 1-0-3 so that the MPN value was 11/100 mL of sample.

Abstract

The industrial tofu factory located in Lautingara Kelurahan Kalabahi Tengah, where the remaining liquid waste is channeled directly into the reservoir without prior treatment, can affect water quality in the dug wells. The purpose of this study was to determine the quality and feasibility of dug well water as drinking water-based on parameters of pH, BOD, COD, nitrite, and nitrate of dug well water, which is suspected to be contaminated by the presence of tofu waste. The results showed that the pH value and nitrite value (NO2-) of the three dug well water samples in Lautingara met the drinking water quality standards, while the BOD, COD, and nitrate (NO3-) values in the three dug well water samples in Lautingara did not meet the values quality standards and not suitable for drinking water.

Abstract

The effectiveness of the absorption of activated rice husk and hazelnut shells on the purification of used cooking oil has been carried out. The aim is to determine the absorption capacity of the active charcoal of rice husk and hazelnut shells to purify used cooking oil. After being physically activated, activated charcoal from rice husk and pecan shells is applied to the purification of used cooking oil. The results show that the quality of hazelnut shell charcoal is better than rice husk after it is applied to purifying used cooking oil.

Abstract

Research on Comparison of the Contact Time of Candlenut Charcoal with H3PO4 Activator in the Process of Purifying Used Cooking Oil has been conducted. The purpose of this study was to determine the ability of candlenut shells activated with H3PO4 against purifying used cooking oil. The variation of the number of candlenut shells used is 1 gram, 2 grams, and 3 grams and the variation of contact time is 10 minutes, 30 minutes and 60 minutes. The results showed that the activation of hazelnut shell using H3PO4 fulfills SNI 16-3730-1995, while the results of used cooking oil purification with 2 grams of activated charcoal in 60 minutes resulted in a decrease in peroxide number of 64.58% and free fatty acids of 54, 84%.

Abstract

CoronaVirus Disease - 19 merupakan salah satu virus kelompok corona yang baru setelah MERS-Cov dan SARS-Cov-2. Virus ini dikabarkan awal pemunculannya di kota Wuhan, Cina. Gejala klinis yang timbul akibat penyakit ini sangat beragam, mulai dari flu biasa (batuk, pilek, nyeri tenggorokan, nyeri otot, nyeri kepala) hingga berkomplikasi berat (pneumonia). Di tengah pandemi virus Corona menjaga imunitas tubuh merupakan hal yang sangat penting. Daya tahan tubuh yang baik dapat mencegah terinfeksi dari virus Corona COVID-19. Banyak cara yang bisa dilakukan untuk meningkatkan imunitas tubuh, seperti berjemur, istirahat yang cukup, makan bergizi, hingga mengkonsumsi tumbuhan herbal. Salah satu cara untuk mencegah penyebaran CoViD-19 adalah selalu menjaga daya imun tubuh terhadap gejala-gejala klinisnya. Tujuan dari pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah untuk memberikan pengetahuan tentang pentingnya mengenal bahan-bahan alami yang dapat dijadikan herbal untuk mempertahankan daya tahan tubuh terhadap berbagai penyakit, terutama terhadap CoViD-19. Hasil Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat menunjukkan bahwa masyarakat Desa Maikang Kecamatan Alor Selatan Kabupaten Alor-NTT telah memperoleh pengetahuan tentang kandungan dan manfaat dari kunyit, jahe, dan gula merah sekaligus telah memperoleh pengetahuan tentang cara pembuatan herbal serta bersama menikmati hasil pembuatan herbal tersebut. Abstract

Global warming is a process of increasing the average temperature in the atmosphere, at sea, and on land, so that it will result in very extreme climate changes on earth. One of the exhaust gases known by various levels of society is carbon dioxide gas or commonly abbreviated as CO2. This gas is formed due to various human activities and because it occurs naturally, including burning garbage to forest fires. The candlenut shell is a waste from the candlenut fruit which has become a new problem in the community, especially the residents of the candlenut-producing villages. This community service aims to educate about the improtance of preserving forests and practice of making briquettes from to candlenut shell waste as fuel to replace  for household purposes. The participants have understood that processing candlenut shell waste into briquettes as a substitute for fuel can reduce the action of deforestation so that it indirectly already supports the function of the forest as the lungs of the earth.

Abstract

Perubahan iklim yang sangat ekstrim telah berdampak kepada terjadinya berbagai fenomena penyimpangan cuaca dapat terjadi secara alami maupun karena adanya aktifitas manusia. Salah satu dampak yang sangat dirasakan masyarakat petani adalah tidak sehatnya pertumbuhan tanaman penunjang kehidupan rumah tangga seperti hortikultura, serta tanaman pertanian dan perkebunan lainnya. Hal ini mengakibatkan adanya penurunan pendapatan sehingga dapat berdampak kepada peningkatan angka kemiskinan. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah melakukan edukasi dan pelatihan pembuatan pupuk bokashi dari bahan organik seperti limbah dan sampah yang tersedia di sekitar masyarakat. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan di aula kantor desa Luba Kecamatan Lembur Kabupaten Alor. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan dalam dua tahapan yakni ceramah dan praktik. Kegiatan ini dihadiri oleh aparat desa Luba dan perwakilan kelompok tani desa Luba. Hasil pelaksanaan pengabdian kepada masyarakat menunjukkan bahwa setelah mendengarkan penjelasan dari narasumber, masyarakat perwakilan kelompok tani desa Luba dengan antusias bersama tim pengabdian menyediakan bahan-bahan pembuatan pupuk bokashi, seperti rerumputan dan dedaunan, batang pisang, serbuk kayu hasil gergaji, kotoran hewan, air bekas cucian beras, dan EM-4. Kelompok masyarakat perwakilan kelompok tani desa Luba dengan penuh semangat melakukan praktik pembuatan pupuk bokashi sesuai prosedur yang telah diuraikan dalam ceramah. Pelaksanaan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini memiliki kelebihan dan kekurangan. Kelebihannya adalah pelatihan ini tidak hanya menyampaikan materi melalui ceramah saja tetapi sampai kepada tahapan melakukan praktik. Sedangkan kekurangannya adalah kegiatan ini dilakukan hanya sampai pada tahap prosess dan output saja tetapi tidak sampai kepada tahap outcome. Oleh karena itu untuk pengabdian kepada masyarakat selanjutnya terkait pembuatan pupuk bokashi ini sebaiknya sampai kepada outcome sehingga dapat diketahui dampaknya kepada peserta.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the concentration of the main raw material compounds of cement making before adding limestone additives and determining the compressive strength and porosity and water absorption of cement before adding limestone additives. The result showed that cement with the concentration of 3CaO.SiO2 = 96,9%; 2CaO.SiO2 = negative; 3CaO.Al2O3 = 4,4%; 4CaO.Al2O3.Fe2O3 = 9.7%. If added limestone additive then it will decrease the adhesiveness and create a very wide pore can make a building becomes fragile. Such concentrated cement can not withstand the reaction of other particles from the air.
