Abstract

ABSTRAK Kayu siwak adalah salah satu alternatif untuk membersihkan gigi. Pasta gigi yang mengandung siwak merupakan salah satu pasta gigi herbal yang memiliki kandungan kimia. Kayu siwak mengandung mineral- mineral alami yang dapat membunuh bakteri, yang dapat menghilangkan plak pada gigi dan dapat menjaga kesehatan gigi dan mulut. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui efektivitas pengunaaan kayu siwak dan pasta gigi yang mengandung siwak terhadap tingkat kebersihan gigi dan mulut. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Cross Sectional Study dengan desain pendekatan eksperimen One-Grup Pretest-Posttest Design. Berdasarkan bukti dan manfaatnya dalam bidang kedokteran gigi, penggunaan kayu siwak dan pasta siwak dalam menyikat gigi yang digunakan oleh responden selama 3 hari mampu menghilangkan debris pada permukaan gigi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan penurunan Debris Indeks dan Calculus Indeks setelah penggunaan kayu siwak dan pasta gigi siwak. Dengan demikian maka dapat disimpulkan penggunaan kayu siwak dan pasta siwak dalam menyikat gigi selama 3 hari dapat meningkatkan kebersihan gigi dan mulut. Abstract

ABSTRACT Dental caries is damage to tooth tissue which can be seen by the presence of damage to the tissue, which starts from the surface of the tooth, namely recesses, fissures and interproximal areas that spread to the pulp area. Dental caries can be found in various individuals and can occur on one or more tooth surfaces, and can spread to deeper areas of the tooth, such as from the enamel to the dentin or to the pulp area. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between consuming cariogenic food and the incidence of dental caries with the target of stunting in elementary school-age children at SD Inpres Unggulan BTN Pemda, Rappocini District, Makassar City. The method used in this study is a quantitative method, namely a survey with a cross-sectional approach. The sample in this study used a purposive sampling technique with a total sample of 50 people. In this study the data came from distributing questionnaires containing questions about the relationship between consuming cariogenic food and the incidence of dental caries in elementary school-age children and questionnaires containing questions about the lifestyle of mothers and children so that they can be said to be at risk of stunting. Children's eating habits and the risk of stunting were measured by filling out a questionnaire form filled out by the students' parents. Caries is measured by looking directly at the condition of the child's teeth using objective examination methods (palpation, percussion, vitality or mobility tests). And for stunting, height and weight checks are carried out to measure student BMI.

Abstract

Efforts in the field of dental health will contribute to improving the caliber and productivity of human resources as dental and oral health are essential to overall human health. Dental and oral health education (PKG) is a method of education that was developed in response to dental and oral health demands with the goals of raising living standards and promoting excellent dental and oral health. People acquire experience or information through a variety of instructional media during the educational process, which includes dentistry and oral health education. When the proper health education techniques and media are used, along with the involvement of additional senses, the outcomes will be ideal and the supply of health education will be more successful. The aim of this study was to determine the impact of oral health and dental education on children's proficiency in brushing their teeth at Al-Bayan Elementary School in Makassar City through the use of picture stories and visual aids. The pre-experimental design of this study employs a one-group pretest-posttest design, and simple random sampling is the sample method. The instruments utilized in this study were an observation sheet to measure teeth brushing abilities for the dependent variable and counseling utilizing media props and illustrated tale media for the independent variable. This study was analyzed using the Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test where the results of P value = 0.000 (p <0.05), which means that there is an effect of dental and oral health education using teaching aids and illustrated story media on teeth brushing skills in children at Integral Al-Bayan School Makassar City.

Abstract

Oral health problems are difficulties that require a holistic approach because they have far-reaching effects on a person who has dental disease, including their physical, emotional, and social well-being. This study aims to determine the effect of children's attitudes and behavior on the habit of brushing teeth as a preventive measure for caries in elementary school children at SD Inpres Unggulan BTN Pemda. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative with a cross-sectional approach. The population of this study were all 412 students of SD Inpres Unggulan BTN Pemda. The sampling technique in this study used Stratified Random Sampling technique with a total sample of 6th grade students of SD Inpres Unggulan BTN Pemda, namely 68 people. Data collection using instruments in the form of questionnaires and diagnostic tools. Data analysis techniques used in this study are editing, data coding, processing, and cleaning using Univariate analysis and Bivariate chi-square test. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between the attitude and behavior of tooth brushing habits with the caries condition of BTN Pemda's superior SD Inpres students.
