Abstract

Abstract Bali strait waters is an area of ??over fishing (fishing waters) as well as an abundant supply of fish, especially Lemuru, +80 % of all the total fish which is caught by fishermen. Besides, Kedungringin is also being a fishing area for traditional fishermen. With the condition of over fishing and supporting with the good condition of the coral reef in the Bali strait, it seems the traditional fishermen community in Kedungringin should be more prosperous. The purpose of this study is to describe and analyze the causes of poverty in the traditional fishing village of Kedungringin, Muncar, Banyuwangi. This research uses descriptive method with qualitative approach. Informants who involved are principal informants and additional informants. The principal informants are traditional fishermen who live in Kedungringin who still suffer from poverty and still struggling to meet their daily needs. Then, additional informants are a wife of the fisherman, village chief and ‘pengamba’ (fish sellers). Method of observation, interviews and documentation is chosen as a data collection method. Meanwhile, the analysis uses an interactive model of data reduction data presentation drawing conclusions or verification. The causes of poverty in the traditional fishing communities due to the low education, the role of economic institutions, the habits of fishermen, the alternative employment, the ownership of capital, as well the technology used.

Abstract

Masyarakat digemparkan dengan kasus positif Covid-19. Beberapa sektor lumpuh akibat pandemi Covid-19 diantaranya bidang kesehatan dan pendidikan. Covid-19 menyebabkan masyarakat terganggu kesehatannya bahkan sampai meninggal dunia. Covid-19 merupakan penyakit menular melalui mata, hidung, dan mulut. Hal ini juga sangat berdampak negatif pada sektor pendidikan. Sejak awal masa pandemic Covid-19, sekolah dari tingkat dasar sampai perguruan tinggi tidak diizinkan untuk melakukan pembelajaran di sekolah atau kampus. Siswa dan mahasiwa belajar dari rumah masing-masing. Pembelajaran pun dianggap kurang maksimal karena minim bimbingan langsung dari para pendidik. Pemerintah dan masyarakat bekerja sama dalam mengatasi permasalahan di masa pandemi Covid-19. Di bidang kesehatan, untuk pencegahan penularan Covid-19 diadakan berbagai kegiatan termasuk sosialisasi tentang pencegahan penularan Covid-19 dan berperilaku sehat. Sedangkan di bidang pendidikan diantaranya diadakan sosialisasi pemanfaatan teknologi yaitu dengan menggunakan berbagai aplikasi belajar dari handphone. Salah satu aplikasi belajar bahasa Inggris pada handphone adalah Cake. Warga RW 007 Kelurahan Harapan Mulya Kecamatan Medan Satria Kota Bekasi banyak yang terkontaminasi positif Covid-19. Warga yang memiliki anak juga belum banyak yang memahami cara memanfaatkan fitur-fitur yang terdapat di handphone untuk belajar bahasa Inggris. Sosialisasi pencegahan penularan Covid-19 dan pendampingan keterampilan bahasa Inggris bagi orang tua anak dapat menjadi solusi untuk memutus rantai penyebaran Covid-19 dan mendampingi anak belajar bahasa Inggris di rumah. Aplikasi Cake menyediakan materi dan latihan belajar bahasa Inggris dengan fitur-fitur menarik. Anak dapat menggunakan aplikasinya kapan saja dengan didampingi oleh orang tua. Masalah di bidang kesehatan dan pendidikan pada masa pandemi Covid-19 akan terkurangi.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of Question-Answer Relationship and Anticipation-Reaction Guide strategies for enhancing students’ reading comprehension to students with high and low critical thinking. This study is quantitative research by using experimental factorial design 2x2. The participants of this study were 26 students of XI-IPS1 as the first experimental group and 25 students of XI-IPS 2 as the second experimental group at the Islamic Private Senior High School Sultan Agung 3 Semarang. The findings of this study show that (1) Question-Answer Relationship strategy has better effect for students with high and low critical thinking (2) Question-Answer Relationship and Anticipation-Reaction Guide strategies are equal treated to students with high critical thinking (3) Question-Answer Relationship strategy has better effect to students with low critical thinking (4) the students with high and low critical thinking improve equally treated by Question-Answer Relationship strategy (5) the students with high critical thinking improve better treated by Anticipation-Reaction Guide strategy (6) there is an interaction among teaching strategies, reading comprehension, and their critical thinking. To sum up, there is an interaction among teaching strategies, reading comprehension, and students’ critical thinking in teaching reading hortatory exposition texts to students with high and low critical thinking.
