Abstract

Persons with disabilities also have the right to communicate with each other, both with normal people and people with other disabilities. People with disabilities will be difficult to communicate with other people. They use 'sign language' to communicate. That's why other normal people will be difficult to communicate with them. Because there are not many normal people that can understand the 'sign language'. System which can help to communicate with disabilities people are needed. In this paper, we proposed sign language recognition for Sistem Isyarat Bahasa Indonesia (SIBI) using leap motion based on K-Nearest Neighbor. Technology of leap motion controller will generate the existence of coordinate points on each bone in hand. As an input, we used the value of distance between the coordinates of each bone distal to the position of the palm, which were measured using Euclidean Distance. This feature of distance will be used for training and testing data on K-Nearest Neighbor method. The experiment result shows that the best accuracy is 0,78 and error 0,22 with proposed parameter of K = 5.

Abstract

This paper proposes a control strategy active power filter under non-ideal main voltages. The P-Q Theory is used to generate three-phase active power filter reference currents, but the P-Q Theory has a weakness when implemented under non ideal main voltages. This paper proposes a reference current generation method using modified P-Q Theory under non-ideal main voltages conditions. Before calculating the P-Q Theory, the non-ideal voltage at the source is normalized by using PLL to determine the phase angle which is then carried out by generating an ideal three-phase signal. The proposed method is simulated and implemented in a three-phase active power filter controller. The test results show the improvement in the performance of the P-Q Theory under non ideal main voltages with THD 7.21% to THD 3.29%.

Abstract

The phenomenon of voltage and or current harmonic distortion often occurs in industrial electrical system. The harmonic distortion waveforms are caused by non-linear loads. Active power filters can reduce harmonic distortion on almost any harmonic order that appears. The p-q theory is a widely used method to calculate harmonic reference currents that required. This paper proposes an active power filter controlling method that can determine the desired harmonic order to be compensated specifically. Through this method, only the desired harmonic order will be compensated. This proposed method increases the effectiveness of p-q theory in the calculation of current harmonic suppression. the simulation results show that the proposed method can suppress the desired harmonics to be compensated, ie 3rd order from THD 30% to 0.46%, while in 5th order from 10% to 0.09%.

Abstract

Induction motor is one type of electric machine that is widely used both in household consumers and industrial players. However, induction motors have drawbacks, namely starting currents that can reach 5-7 times the nominal current, of course this can lead to reduced life time of other electrical equipment and the possibility of shutdown or trip is very large. This research proposes a new modeling to create a soft starting system to reduce the 3 phase induction motor start current. This system was built with the help of a Phase Delay Control power electronics circuit with the main component, Triac, which functions to regulate the input voltage of a 3 phase induction motor and a contactor whose function is to move the 3 phase induction motor power supply from the soft starting system to the PLN source directly if, The input voltage is the same as the nominal voltage. The output of these processes is the Triac ignition angle, so during the starting process, the induction motor will receive an input voltage in stages from the smallest to reach its nominal voltage. Thus the results of testing the soft starting system that is designed to have a maximum current value at the start of 2.45 A or 77.58% lower than the start current using the DOL method with a value of 10.93 A at no-load conditions and 7.41 A or 34.19% lower than the motor starting current with the DOL method with a value of 11.31 A when the motor is loaded. Keywords: phase delay control, soft starting, three phase induction motor.

Abstract

Damage to the electrical components will inevitably occur, it could be caused by several factors that influence it starting from inside and outside the system. 3 phase induction motor is the most commonly used in the industry, but often also has problems such as over current and over heat on the motor. The disturbance if left unchecked can cause fatal damage to the motor. therefore, a relay safety system has been made which utilizes a microcontroller controller to protect the 3 phase induction motors. This safety relay is designed differently than conventional safety relays used by industry in general, this safety relay is designed based on the microcontroller control and is accompanied by setting and resset facilities respectively to display on the LCD via Push Botton buttons. As such, 3 phase induction motors are protected from severe damage caused by interference with the mesh source. It is expected that by making this safety relay can reduce the value of damage to the 3 phase induction motor. Keywords: microcontroller, overcurrent, overheat, three phase induction motor.
