Abstract

This research is very important to be carried out considering the crucial role of English for students of Politeknik LP3I Medan. Yet, in this study later, researchers will investigate the model of English teaching lecturers by analyzing the utterances they say to students while teaching. Here the researcher will analyze the utterance by using FIACS (Accept feelings, Praises or encourages, Accepts or uses ideas, Ask questions, Lecturing, Giving direction, Criticizing or justifying authority) to see the types of lecturers' speeches and student responses (students talk response, students talk initiation, Silence or confusion) in teaching and learning activities. Then the researcher will analyze the teaching model applied by the lecturer with other supporting theories. The research method used in this study is a qualitative analysis of the content in which all data will be displayed and analyzed according to the contents of the interaction of students and lecturers when the English learning process takes place and the results of this study will be explained qualitatively. Data will be collected through transcripts from video recordings containing lecturers' teaching dialogues for 1 month and closed interviews. The sample of this study was two English lecturers at the Lp3i Medan Polytechnic Directorate level I & II. Then, the data that has been collected will be analyzed in several stages, such as: transcribing, data displaying, classifying, analyzing, comparing and concluding. The results of this study found that the two lecturers used as samples in this study used all kinds of speech contained in the theory of Flanders 2010 with different portions, but lecturer A was more dominant using the type of questioning, while lecturer B was more dominant giving direction with the same goal namely stimulating students to actively participate in interacting in class using English. Then the researchers found that both in lecture class A and lecture B, students actively interacted both in responding to lecturers and communicating among their peers. It can be concluded that the lecturers use students-centered learning methods to create a communicative classroom atmosphere and familiarize students more with interacting using English and this study also found that computer engineering students whose predominantly male students had kinesthetic characters active so that they are more active when the lecturer stimulates movement and practice. Abstract

Ujung tombak roda suatu perusahaan ialah SDM (karyawan). Kualitas Karyawan akan sangat menentukan baik buruknya perjalanan bisnis suatu perusahaan,termasuk pula roda pendidikan dalam suatu perguruan tinggi. Maka dari itu peningkatan kemampuan dan kualitas dosen sangatlah menjadi satu hal yg penting untuk terus diperhatikan oleh pihak terkait guna meningkatkan kualitas perusahaan seperti contoh dengan memberikan pendidikan ataupun pelatihan sesuai dengan kompetensi dosen per waktu tertentu sesuai dengan juknis perusahaan tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui seberapa besar pengaruh pendidikan dan pelatihan terhadap Karir dosen Politeknik LP3I Medan dalam pelaksanaan pendidikan dan pelatihan agar dosen memiliki karir yang lebih baik lagi. Jenis data yang digunakan adalah data primer dan sekunder. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan kuesioner dan studi kepustakaan. Metode analisis data adalah metode kuantitatif yang diperoleh melalui data langsung dari kampus. Pengolahan data menggunakan alat uji statistik SPSS Versi 21.00 dan pengujian hipotesis dengan analisis korelasi. Semua item pernyataan dikatakan reliabel karena nilai cronbach’s Alpha 0,864>0,6. Untuk uji koefisien determinasi diperoleh nilai adjusted R square sebesar 0,50,6 dimana 50,6 % menunjukkan bahwa variabel (x) yaitu Diklat mempunyai pengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap variabel (y) yakni karir dosen dan 49,4 % dipengaruhi oleh variabel lain seperti motivasi, gaji, insentif dan sebagainya yang tidak dibahas dipenelitian ini. Berdasarkan hasil analisa uji T dengan nilai thitung> ttabel, maka diperoleh variabel teladan pemimpin (4,290>2.101), Ho ditolak artinya secara parsial ada pengaruh signifkasi antara variabel independen terhadap variabel dependen.

Abstract

Attitude and awareness are essential factors in learning foreign language because they are reflected to the students feeling towards it. English is placed as foreign language in Indonesia play a very important role troughout human’s life academically on non-academically. It is due to English was functioned as the main ctool of communication in the world,especially in Technology era nowdays. All technology was designed in English to operate it. The phenomena happened recently was that the development of technology and the shifting process of learning spontanously onto digital,force students to be accustomed to operate digital media in learning without any well-preparation and training. Unrealizedly, students should communicate via digital media which English got alredy settled in it. Spontanously they were accustomed to interract with English words in their gadget, on the other hands, they learned autodidactly. This study amied to investigate how the students’ language attitude towards English learning pasca digitalization era. The study was designed by using qualitative with simple quantitative data survey and applying closed questionnaire that administered to respondents (all Business Administration students grade II academic Year 2021-2022). The sample was taken at all because the population was 56 students, then all of them will be the sample of the research. Furthermore, the Questionnaire will be analysed quantitatively based on the theory proposed by Miles, Huberman and Saldana such as data displaying, classifying, analyzing, comparing and concluding. Based on the study, it was found that the students shew positive attitude toward Learning English pasca digitalization learning. There were 47 students who are intereseted in learnng English and there were 8 students who felt bored in doing the English learning. Meanwhile the researher found something unique in this study, eventhough the students are interested in it, the students got 20% decressing score than before applying digital media for learning, the researchers found that there was another thing affected their score and English achivement, such as the teahers’ teaching methodology.

Abstract

Attitude is the essential factor that affected foreign language learning because it delayed on the feeling of the learners. The recent phenomena happened was that the development of technology and the shifting of learning portrait into digital vibes, it forced students to be master in operatinng technology spontanously, without any preparation and training. They should communicate via digital which was settled in English in it, the must be more accustomed in the used of English vocabulary, it such as autodidact learning or life learning. This study aimed to investigate the students’ attitude towards English when they were studying by digital (e-learning). The study was design in simple quantitative by using closed questionnaire. It was administered to the respondents (all of business administration students especially International Business concentration grade II Academic year 2019-2020 with sample 52 people. The content of the questionnaire use 3 components of attitude such as cognition, afection and conation. Furthermore it was analysed based Miles, Huberman and Saldana stage. It was found that 78% respondents responded positively (good). In another words, the students have goiod attitude towards e-English learning.

Abstract

Kehadiran Virus Corona atau yang akrab dikenali dengan Covid-19 telah merubah segala aspek kehidupan, terutama proses belajar mengajar. Peserta didik dan pengajar di Indonesia yang terbiasa melakukan proses belajar mengajar dengan tindakan kelas dan kontak fisik harus beradaptasi ke dunia pembelajaran digital. Ini tentunya bukanlah hal yang kecil bagi pengajar maupun peserta didik. Hal tersebut menjadi satu amukan pada diri peneliti untuk menindaklanjuti fenomena yang terjadi. Adapun Fenomena yang terjadi yaitu 1) baik mahasiswa maupun dosen sulit beradaptasi ke sistem digitalisasi pembelajaran, dibuktikan dengan adanya dosen yang tidak bisa menghidupkan video pada saat pembelajaran online, tidak dapat membagikan layar ataupun menggunakan background di zoom meeting mereka. Terlebih sebahagian besar dosen Universitas Mahkota Tricom Unggul tidak dapat membuat laporan mengajar secara digital,sehingga tidak ditemukan adanya laporan mengajar digital selama pembelajaran daring. 2) Dari sisi mahasiswa, ditemukan adanya mahasiswa yang belum mempunyai laptop dan HP yang mendukung kapasitas dalam menjalankan zoom meeting. 3)Terkhusus bagi mahasiswa yang mempelajari bahasa asing (bahasa Inggris), hal ini sungguh menjadi masalah besar karena seyogyanya mereka butuh interaksi langsung dengan pengajar (dosen) kini harus mengalami bias jarak dan media yang mengakibatkan nilai pencapaian bahasa Inggris mereka menurun drastis (dibuktikan dengan data skunder dari akademik). Adapun tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk melihat bagaimana motivasi belajar mahasiswa dalam mengikuti digitalisasi pembelajaran bahasa Inggris dimasa merdeka belajar. Penelitian akan dilakukan dengan survey sederhana dengan mengaplikasikan kuesioner sebagai data kuantitatif dan hasil penelitian akan dijabarkan secara deskriptif. Adapun responden akan diambil dari seluruh mahasiswa tingkat II dan III Program Studi D3 Akuntansi dan S1 Manajemen yang berjumlah 63 orang. Isian kuesioner motivasi belajar disusun berdasarkan Indikator motivasi menurut Fitriyani (2020). Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa terdapat 75% (47) responden merespon kuesioner motivasi dengan negatif, hal ini membukatikan bahwa mahasiswa Akuntansi dan Managemen Universitas Mahkota Tricom Unggul memiliki motivasi yang tidak baik terhadap digitalisasi pembelajaran bahasa Inggris dimasa kampus merdeka merdeka belajar dikarenakan oleh keterbatan yang ada untuk menjalankan digitalisasi pembelajaran tersebut. Kemudian untuk menjawab permasalahan kedua dalam penelitian ini, 83% (52) responden menjawab bahwa mereka tertarik untuk menggunakan media pembelajaran seperti Zoom dan video pembelajaran, dimana mereka dapat langsung berinteraksi dan merasakan atmosper pembelajaran yang murni atau natural.

Abstract

Various changes in English curriculum starting from the audio-lingual method to the communicative competence used today have not been able to improve students' English skills. The teacher-centered pattern that has changed to student-centered has also not been able to provide significant changes to student learning outcomes at the university level. This study was conducted to investigate the digitalizaton of English Learning at University of Mahkota Tricom Unggul which was troubled in shiffting the learning landscape from offline to online or digital based. It would be done by applying qualitative research. The data was taken from interview of English lecturers and EFL students majoring from D-3 Akuntansi and S-1 Managemen. The interview questions were settled as well based on the digitalization in English Learning and the Problem they met. After analysing the data, it was found that the students commonly used e-learning, Zoom and Whatsapp. E-learning was used by them for creating and sharing the material of the study, Zoom was used for undergoing a class meeting and whatsapp was used to accomodate interaction behind the teaching learning time. The most common problem that they faced in running this digitalization was that the limitation of the digital media device, less internet connection up to less learning system management.

Abstract

Digital wallets are electronic applications that can be used to pay for transactions online without cards and without cash, Users only need to use their smartphone if they want to make transactions. This study used a quantitative descriptive data analysis method using a questionnaire, which is a data collection technique carried out by providing a number of statements through the G-Form to each respondent who qualifies as a research sample. The sample used in this study was 36 students of the LP3I Polytechnic Business Administration Study Program. This study aims to find out how much influence variable X has on variable Y. Based on the results of multiple linear regression analysis with a coefficient value of -5.578 and for the perception of benefits of 0.269 which means that if it is increased by 1%, the interest in use will decrease by 0.269, the Security Perception by 0.669 which means that if it is increased by 1%, the interest in use will decrease by 0.669, the perception easy to use by 0.332 which means that if it is increased by 1% then the interest in use will decrease by 0.332. Partially, this study is also significant because the sig value < 0.05 as well as the T value is calculated > T table (1,694) so it is concluded that the variables X1,X2,X3 have an effect on Y. Simultaneous tests found that F counts > F table (61,197 > 2,892) so that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. And the results obtained, Variable X and Variable Y have an influence of 83,3%.

Abstract

This research was to describe the implementation of scientific approach and the problems in teaching English. The writer used qualitative research. Subjects of this research were English teachers of SMP Negeri 38 Medan.The data of this research were collected by relating observation, interview and documentation. The data were evaluated by applying data reduction, data display, and conclusion based on Miles and Hubberman (1994). The findings showed that the teachers used scientific approach covering the activities were as follows, (1) in the observing activity, teachers showed prohibition images, English instructions and introduced in English, (2) in the activity of asking, there was activity of asking and answering about the observed objects., (3) in the activity of experimenting, the teachers guided the students to demonstrate, discuss and try, (4) in the activity of associating, the teachers guided the students to conduct English exercise, (5) in activity of communicating, students present orally. Meanwhile there were problems faced by the teachers as follows, (1) lack of attractive media in the observing activity, (2) lack of students’ activiness, (3) lack of students’ self-confidence and partaking to experience, (4) lack of students’ vocabulary, (5) and lack of students’ responsiveness.
