Abstract

Background: Anemia is a global public health problem affecting both developing and developed countries with major consequences on human health as well as social and economic development. Anemia resulting from iron deficiency that may adversely affects the infants? cognitive and motor development. The objective of this research was to find out the risk factors of iron deficiency anemia (IDA) in 6 months old infants. Methods: This was an observational research with case-control design. Population was all 6 months old infants having been examined for their hemoglobin levels in Tegalrejo public health center in Yogyakarta from 2017 to 2018. 164 samples were taken with random sampling contained of 82 infants with anemia diagnosis in case group and 82 infants with normal hemoglobin levels for control group. Dependent variable was iron deficiency anemia (IDA) assessed based on hemoglobin level less than 11 gr% and independent variables were IDA risk factors (birth weight, sex, maternal education, maternal occupation, and maternal age) obtained from medical records and direct interviews. Data were analyzed by using logistic regression. Results: the risk factor influencing IDA was exclusive breastfeeding (p<0.05). Infants who did not receive exclusive breastfeeding had 2.16 folds higher risk of having IDA than those who received exclusive breastfeeding. Other risk factors such as birth weight, sex, maternal education, maternal occupation, and maternal age did not correlate significantly to iron deficiency anemia (IDA). Conclusion: Exclusive breastfeeding was the significant risk factor toward iron deficiency anemia in 6 months old infants after controlling other risk factors. Therefore, these finding can be implemented by maternal and child health practitioners to make iron deficiency anemia prevention program by eliminating or minimizing its risk factor.

Abstract

Low birth weight (LBW) is still the main cause of perinatal morbidity and mortality. Hypertensive pregnancy (HP) is often the main cause of LBW incidences. ln HP, the disfunction of placenta vascular will occur and it causes the disturbance of the blood pipeline to the placenta so that the input of nutrition and embryo oxygen cannot be fulfilled optimally, and it causes the late fetus growth and LBW infant. At RSUD Wonosari in 2008, there was 30,36% woman with HP born LBW infant and the rate was getting an increase in 2009, there was 46%. Objectives: To observe the correlation between HP and LBW incidences at RSUD Wonosari in 2010-2011. Methods: The observational analytical research with case-control design, consist of HP as independent va.riable and LBW as a dependent. The samples are determined by using purposive sampling method from medical records at RSUD Wonosari in 2010-2011. The analysis method of this research is chi-square statistical test, and contingency coefficient Result: LBW incidences that were born by a woman with HP at RSUD Wonosari in 2010-2011 are about 7596, chi-square analysis with df=1 and significance level 5% produce X2 count = 39,629; p-value = 0,000, and C=0,462.

Abstract

Data Family Health Directorate indicate that 40% of the causes of maternal deaths are hemorrhage. The risk of bleeding is increased when pregnant women suffer from anemia. The study population were all pregnant women registered in the register Mantijeron Health Center in 2011 as many as 245 people. Sampling technique using consecutive sampling, samples obtained as many as 146 people. Analysis using the chi square test with ? of 5%. Results: total of 29.5% of pregnant women suffer from chronic energy deficiency and 43.2% of pregnant women are anemic. There is a relationship between the incidence of KEK with the incidence of anemia in trimester I pregnant women in Mantrijeron Health Centers TM I in Mantrijeron Year 2011 (X2 count = 9.584 p-value = 0.002). The prevalence ratio of 1.748 indicates that the KEK is a risk factor for anemia. Conclusion: There is a relationship between the occurrence of the incident KEK in trimester I pregnant women with anemia in Mantrijeron in the year of 2011 and KEK is 1.748 risk factor to be anemia.

The result of chi square p-vatu6 0,010 which means there are correlation of ages with prolonged second stage. There are 4 (12,5%) women in labor who accompanied and gave birth more than 2 hours, 87,5% women in labor who accompanied and gave birth less than 2 hours with result p-value 0,000 which means there are significant correlation between company by husband with prolonged second stage. Multivariate analysis used coefficient regression determinant is 0,340. There are correlation of ages and company of husband with prolonged second stage have p-value 0,010. Ages have 4 times risked and company of husband have 12 times risked don?t have prolonged second stage. From coefficient regression determinant can be concluded that variable of prolonged second stage can be explained by variable of ages and company of husband are 34%

Abstract

KB acceptors active injection in Bantul rank first in DIY with total amount of 50.5%, the highest rank of 6061 people (50.1%) occurred in Sewon (Ministry of Health, 2011). KB injectable DMPA has one side effect, that is weight gain. Based on a preliminary study of the 20 respondents in Puskesmas Sewon I, 70% of their body weight increased along with duration of use. Problem arising from the increase in body weight is a health issue. A long-term utilization of hormonal contraception always generates the bad side effect for health. DMPA injectable contraceptive are acceptable as hormonal contraception, but maximum usage limit is 10 times injection or 2.5 years (Suroso, 2011). The purpose of the research is to knew the influence between duration of use of DMPA injections (KB) to weight gain in Puskesmas Sewon I, Bantul 2012. Most of the subject had used DMPA injections KB within >12- 24 months with a frequency of 68 (37.99%), the majority of subject gained weight 2.2 kg with a frequency of 51 (28.9%), the longer use of DMPA injection (KB) on average the greater the weight gain. Test correlation with Kendall-tau (t) obtained p-value <0.000 (2.2x 10-16) (p-value <0.05), means that Ho rejected and there is an influence between duration of use DMPA injection (KB) to weight gain in Puskesmas Sewon I, Bantul in 2012 with a correlation coefficient of 0.5292, meaning that 54.92%, weight gain is influenced by KB injectable DMPA and 45.08% weight gai is influenced by other factors.
