Abstract

The research aimed to describe the problems solving level of students math education study program STKIP Muhammadiyah Pringsewu Lampung in the academic year of 2018-2019 in solving the convergence of sequences and series of real numbers on the advanced calculus subject.  Data analysis techniques were used to analyze the results of students' answers in achieving the indicators of problem solving skills. The result obtained the phase of understanding the problems in the amount of 86%, the phase of choosing the right strategy to overcome the problems was 69%, the process of solving the problem correctly and systematically was 45%, the phase of re-examining the precision The results showed that the ability of students to understand the problem was very good, the ability of students to choose the right strategy to solve good problems, the ability of students to solve problems correctly and systematically enough, and the ability of students to re-check the accuracy of the strategy chosen and the truth of problem solving still very less

Abstract

ABSTRACTTeacher centered learning patterns cause drowsiness, lack of enthusiasm, and many who do not pay attention.This lack of learning innovation is thought to cause low student learning outcomes.To overcome this problem, one of them is by applying the ASSURE model. The purpose of this study is to find out (1) there are differences in the average student mathematics learning outcomes with learning using the ASSURE model with students' mathematics learning outcomes with direct learning models. (2) the average mathematics learning outcomes of students who learn using the ASSURE model are higher than students whose learning uses direct learning. Furthermore, the data were analyzed using the statistical test t, because the data is homogeneous and comes from a population that is normally distributed. From the results of the data analysis it can be concluded that there are differences in the average student learning outcomes using ASSURE model learning with direct learning and the average learning outcomes of the ASSURE model is higher than the direct learning model.Keywords: ASSURE Learning Model, Learning Outcomes
