Abstract

Automatic cocoa fermentation design is expected to facilitate the work of cocoa farmers during the process of reversing and stirring cocoa fermentation based on the right temperature. The fermentation process is of course done in a box or sack so that chocolate quickly produces heat and is cemented. However, in certain conditions, especially when in sacks there are often obstacles in the stirring process. Often the fermented chocolate experiences weathering or moldiness due to the uneven reversal that causes chocolate to clot, causing weathering or moldiness and produce an unpleasant odor and unattractive color on the cocoa beans. To overcome this problem a tool that automatically can turn or stir the cocoa beans evenly. This device is controlled by Arduino Uno R3 with a sensor that is an LM35 temperature sensor and has an LCD output and DC motor. This tool uses Relay to adjust the delay when driving a DC motor. The working principle of this tool, when the LM35 temperature sensor receives heat conditions on the cocoa beans, the LCD will display the condition of the temperature while the relay will instruct the DC motor to move the Cocoa Fermentation rail rotating left or right. The purpose of making this tool is to create a tool that can help alleviate the work of cocoa farmers in cocoa bean stirring activities at the time of cocoa bean fermentation controlled by Arduino. From the results of the tests carried out, the tool is able to read both hot and cold temperature conditions, and the LM35 sensor can work well in detecting temperature changes from 350C to 400C or vice versa.

Abstract

This research was intended to figure out the effectiveness of the use of short stories in teaching reading comprehension to enhance the quality of students’ reading to the first semester students of Tarbiyah of Muhammadiyah University of Aceh. The mayor principle of conducting this research was to investigate whether or not the students in the experimental group taught by using short stories would produce a higher achievement than those of the control group taught by using conventional study. To find out the effectiveness of the use of short stories, the pre-test and the post-test were given for those groups. The result of data analysis demonstrated that there was a significant difference on students’ achievement from both groups proved by the average of the post-test’s score. As a result, the score of the post-test of the experimental group is higher than that of the control group (80:65) by which the gained score for t-test was 8 while the value for t-table was 1,684 at the level of significance 0,05. It means that t-score was higher than t-table (8 1,684). It can be concluded that the students who were taught by using short stories had a better achievement in reading comprehension than those who taught by using conventional study.

Abstract

This research was conducted to see the effectiveness of using short stories in teaching reading comprehension. The teaching model was used an interactive approach to be developed the reading skills of second semester students at the Department of Computer Engineering, South Aceh Polytechnic. The reading ability of students was explored and to be found the right teaching model, then the aspects of the ability to be seen was understanding the meaning of words, sentence intentions, information, problems, opinions, recommendations, sentence structure, analysis and communication and student responses after the application of the teaching model in the classroom. After treatment, there was an increase in students' reading comprehension skills especially in the experimental class after using short story teaching materials with interactive approach teaching models to obtain an average value of pre-test = 55, and post-test = 77.67. Whereas in the control class only got a pre-test value = 49,64 and post-test = 67,86. Then there was a significant difference in the scores of the two classes in the post-test scores (77,67-67,86) namely 9,81. Meanwhile, from questionnaire data, 87% of students responded very well and the remaining 13% responded well to the use of short stories with interactive approach teaching models. As well as answering enough options and less as much as 0%. From the responded above, which has helped develop student confidence, collaboration, self-ability and group work. Of course this research was far from perfection and needs to be improved in the future with other teaching methods, while still providing motivation to students to continue to be improved their learning, especially reading skills. So from the results of this simple study it can be recommended that, the use of short stories in teaching comprehension reading with interactive approach models got a significant increase in students' ability in reading comprehension than conventional learning models.

Abstract

Abstract

ABSTRACT The enclosure of the Krueng Matee waters by vegetation can threaten the preservation of underwater biota, such as fish and shrimp due to lack of oxygen and sunlight, thus the water hyacinth plants reproduce as weeds in the waters of the Krueng Matee river, Kuala Ba'U Village and affect the livelihoods of Kuala Ba'U fishermen. One of the efforts that can be made to overcome water hyacinth weeds is to utilize water hyacinth plants for compost. This community service activity aimed to provide skills in processing water hyacinth into compost for the people of Kuala Ba'U Village. The stages in implementing this activity consisted of field observations, carrying out village administration, the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method, preparation of materials and a multipurpose counter machine. The result of this community service was the availability of compost from water hyacinth as well as a good response and welcome from the community and community leaders of Kuala Ba'U Village because the community gained knowledge and skills in processing water hyacinth into compost, thereby reducing water pollution and improving the community's economy, especially for farmers. In addition, this activity can also normalize the estuary of the Krueng Matee river from water hyacinth weeds, so fishermen can return to fishing and catching fish.
