Abstract

Introduction: Physical activity can improve insulin sensitivity that leads to improve blood glucose control. The application of insole with a thicker design on the back of the shoe will create continues dynamic eccentric contraction. This study aims to compare the effectiveness between insoles of 5 ° and 10 ° to decrease fasting blood glucose levels (GDP) and blood glucose levels 2 hours postprandial (GDPP). Method: The research design used quasi-experimental study, with pre and post-test control design, subjects taken from type 2 diabetes mellitus in the Diabetes Association and Healthy Living in Surabaya as many as 19 people divided into two groups, one group wearing shoes with insole 5 ° for 5 days and second group wear shoes with insole 10 ° for 5 days. Blood samples were taken before and after wearing shoes with an insole. Data analyzed using Wilcoxon statistical test. Result: The results showed that fasting blood glucose levels in the shoe group with 5 ° insole had a p-value = 0.153 and the shoe group with 10 ° insole had a p-value = 0.011. While the blood glucose level 2 hours postprandial in the shoe group with 5 ° insole has a p-value = 0.139 and the shoe group with 10 ° insole has a p-value = 0.028. Discussion: The use of shoes with a 10 ° insole is more effective than the use of shoes with 5 ° insole.

Abstract

Stretching exercise is a therapeutic exercise that aims to increase soft tissue extensibility. Stretching has a positive effect on musculoskeletal symptoms and reduces pain and can prevent work-related musculoskelatal injuries. This study aims to analyze the effect of stretching exercises on reducing pain due to musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) in the workplace. This type of research is experimental research design with one group pre test-post test design. The research subjects were 30 employees at PT Naka Tujuh Gemilang. Subjects received stretching exercise intervention for 10-15 minutes which was done 2-3 times per week for 2 weeks. Subjects were measured the quality of pain with the Verbal Descriptor Scale (VDS) before and after stretching exercises. The research data shows that p = 0.00 Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, so the hypothesis states that stretching exercises have an effect on decreasing VDS values. The conclusion of this study is that stretching exercises are effective in reducing pain due to musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) in the workplace

Abstract

The covid-19 pandemic situation has occurred more than 1 year, so many people do not do much activities outdoor. This has impact on the health and physical fitness of the elderly in RW III, Kebraon, Karang Pilang Surabaya. Objective: Health education about effort to improve physical fitness in the elderly can be a solution to improve the qualityof life of the elderly during a pandemic. Methods: used in this communityservice are lectures, leaflet, and question and answers. This community service is carried out for elderly in RW III Kebraon, Karang Pilang, Surabaya. 30 elderly and elderly posyandu cadre participated in this activity. Result: the result obtained in this community service were an increase in behavioral aspects of knowledge about physical fitness increased by 100%, types of physical activity that can improve physical fitness in increased 93%, elderly who understood the benefit of physical activity increased 87%, and 63% of the elderly would do physical activity in accordance with the appropriate dose. Based on the result ont community service, it can be concluded that helath education is very effective, thereby increasing the elderly’s understanding of the benefits of exercise and physical activity, type of activity and dose of the exercise that can improve physical fitness in the elderly

Abstract

Background: Abdominal stretching is a stretching that focusing on the part of abdominal muscle (rectus abdominis, internus obliqus, external obliqus). Stretching is successful in reducing dysmenorrhea complaint. The aim of research  to analyse the influence of abdominal stretching on reducing the level of primary dysmenorrhea. Methods: The studied design used was quasi experimental with pre and post control design. Subyek were 40 female physiotherapy student with primary dysmenorrhea devided into two groups. The experimental grup get abdominal stretching 10-15 minutes Results: The result of the researt showed that the control group had a p value = 0.52, which means that Ho is accepted, so the hypothesis states that there is no effect on the decrease in VDS scores. The treatment group p = 0.00 Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted so the hypothesis stated that abdominal atretching had an effect on the impairment of VDS. Conclusion: abdominal stretching was effective in reducing level of primary dysmenorrhea

Abstract

Objective:   to compare the intervention of SWD/US and quadriceps exercise with an electrotherapy package in reducing pain in patients with knee OA . Methods: The method of research is  quasi-experimental with pre and post test control group design. Subjects of the study were 52 clients with knee OA, aged 29-88 years divided into 2 groups. The experimental group was given SWD/US and quadriceps exercises, while the control group given  electrotherapy packages. The data is colleted using the Numeric Pain Rating Scale (NPRS).Results:  The research data shows that p = 0.00 Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, so the hypothesis states that the intervention of SWD/US and quadriceps exercises as well as the provition of electrotherapy packages had an effect on decreasing the value of the NPRS in klien with osteoathritis knee. Conclusion:  The prove that  adding quadriceps strengthening exercises provides a more significant pain reduction in clients with knee OA

Abstract

Physical fitness is ability to carry out daily activities safely and effectively without experiencing significant fatique, and stikk having energy left to caary out leisure and recreational activities. The purpose of this study was determinethe description of physical fitness in the elderly. Research design with descriptive studied. The subjects of this study were elderly aged 60 year old in RW III Kelurahan Kebraon, Karang Pilang as many as 36 respondens. The sampling technique was purposive sampling. The data collected during the research were characteristic was gender, age, nutrisional status, physical activity, time physical activity and length of sitting. Sample characteristic data was colleted by filling out questionnaires and physical fitness was collected bay 2 minutes step test. Research data shows that 58,3% have good physical fitness and 41,7 have poor physical fitness. The conclution from the study of elderly in RW III, kelurahan Kebraon, Karang Pilang, most of them have good physical fitness. Recommedation from this study were the importance of manintaining physical fitness who are still less fit, especially in the current pandemic condition by continuing to do physical activity to the dose

Abstract

ABSTRACT New students are faced with different situations when entering lectures at tertiary institutions. This makes the adaptation process for new students more difficult. At the time of entering college, new students are faced with being able to improve their ability to adapt and be able to adapt to the environment in college. Good adaptation helps students to cope with educational and academic demands.This study’s aim is to see an overview of adaptation in tertiary institutions, especially for new students. The research design used is descriptive. The population of this study was new STIKES students in Surabaya with a total sample of 68 people who were taken by purposive sampling technique. The measuring tool used is the Student Adaptation College Questionnaire (SACQ). The research was conducted in February 2022. The research results obtained from the four aspects of student adaptation found that 54.4% had low academic adjustment aspects, 63.2% had low social adjustment aspects, 63.2% had high personal-emotional adjustment aspects, and 54.4% had low institutional attachment aspects. New STIKES students in Surabaya have low scores on the aspects of academic adjustment, social adjustment, and institutional adjustment. There needs to be intensive guidance for new students through a mentoring program by both supervisors and student organizations. Keywords: Adaptation, New Student  ABSTRAK Mahasiswa baru dihadapkan pada situasi yang berbeda saat memasuki perkuliahan di perguruan tinggi. Hal ini membuat membuat proses adaptasi mahasiswa baru menjadi lebih sulit. Pada saat memasuki perguruan tinggi, mahasiswa baru dihadapkan untuk dapat meningkatkan kemampuan dalam penyesuaian diri dan mampu beradaptasi dengan lingkungan di perguruan tinggi. Adaptasi yang baik membantu mahasiswa untuk mengatasi tuntutan pendidikan dan akademik. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat gambaran adaptasi di perguruan tinggi terutama bagi mahasiswa baru. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif. Populasi penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa baru STIKES di Surabaya dengan jumlah sampel 68 orang yang diambil dengan teknik sampling purposive sampling. Alat ukur yang digunakan adalah Student Adaptation College Questionnaire (SACQ). Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Februari 2022. Hasil penelitian didapatkan dari keempat aspek pada adaptasi mahasiswa didapatkan bahwa 54,4% mahasiswa memiliki aspek academic adjustment yang rendah, 63,2% mahasiswa memiliki aspek social adjustment yang rendah, 63,2% mahasiswa memiliki aspek personal- emotional adjustment tinggi dan 54,4% mahasiswa memiliki aspek institutional attachment yang rendah. Mahasiswa baru STIKES di Surabaya memiliki nilai rendah pada aspek academic adjustment, social adjustment dan institutional adjustment. Perlu adanya bimbingan intensif pada mahasiswa baru melalui program bimbingan baik oleh dosen pembimbing maupun organisasi mahasiswa. Kata Kunci: Adaptasi, Mahasiswa Baru

Abstract

Status gizi remaja yang baik diperlukan dalam mencapai kesehatan yang optimal dan pencegahan penyakit degeneratif kronis. Sebagian besar remaja kurang memperhatikan asupan nutrisi makanan sehari-hari sehingga memengaruhi kebugaran fisik. Kebugaran fisik akan memberikan manfaat yang bahkan lebih besar untuk mengurangi risiko penyakit kronis dan cacat, mencegah kematian dini, atau mencegah kenaikan berat badan yang tidak sehat. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi korelasi antara status gizi dan indeks kesanggupan badan pada remaja. Desain penelitian korelasional dengan pendekatan cross-sectional. Subjek penelitian adalah 45 mahasiswa Fisioterapi di STIKES Katolik St. Vincentius a Paulo Surabaya. Variabel penelitian ini adalah status gizi dan kebugaran fisik. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan pengukuran indeks massa tubuh (IMT) dan Indeks Kebugaran Badan menggunakan Metode Uji Langkah Harvard. Hasil penelitian ini adalah lebih dari 50% responden memiliki berat badan normal dan mayoritas responden memiliki indeks kebugaran tubuh yang buruk. Hasil uji statistik oleh rank spearman dengan taraf signifikan ? = 0,05 menunjukkan bahwa p <?, artinya ada hubungan yang signifikan antara status gizi dan tingkat kebugaran jasmani remaja. Dengan koefisien korelasi sebesar -0,31, dengan rata-rata bahwa semakin tinggi skor BMI, semakin rendah skor kebugarannya dengan derajat kekuatan hubungan sedang.

Abstract

Diabetes Melitus adalah penyakit metabolik yang ditandai dengan peningkatan kadar gula darah akibat gangguan pada sekresi insulin, kerja insulin atau keduanya. Latihan eksentrik dapat meningkatkan sensitivitas insulin dan merupakan tipe latihan yang aman untuk meningkatkan pemakaian glukosa pada otot skeletal bagi penderita diabetes melitus. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah membuktikan pengaruh latihan eksentrik sesaat terhadap penurunan kadar glukosa darah. Penelitian ini menggunakan 28 mencit (Mus musculus) Galur balb/c yang dibagi dalam 4 kelompok, kelompok kontrol dengan perlakuan lari pada sudut 0° (K0), kelompok perlakuan latihan eksentrik sesaat/ lari downhill pada sudut -5° (K1), kelompok perlakuan latihan eksentrik sesaat/ lari downhill pada sudut -10°, dan kelompok perlakuan latihan eksentrik sesaat/ lari downhill pada sudut -15°. Latihan eksentrik dilakukan dengan lari downhill pada treadmill dengan durasi 18 menit termasuk pemanasan 5 menit dan kecepatan 31 cm/detik. Pemeriksaan kadar glukosa darah dilakukan dengan mengukur kadar glukosa darah. Rerata kadar glukosa darah pada kelompok perlakuan K1 (293,71±50,07),K2 (233,29±54,81), dan K3 (216,43±66,32) lebih rendah dibandingkan dengan kelompok kontrol K0 (305±77,46). Rerata kadar glukosa pada darah mencit K1 menunjukkan ada perbedaan dibandingkan dengan K2 dan K3, sedangkan K2 dan K3 menunjukkan tidakada perbedaan. Latihan eksentrik sesaat/ lari downhill dengan sudut deklinasi -5°, -10°, dan -15° terbukti menurunkan kadar glukosa pada darah, sedangkan perbedaan antar sudut tidak menyebabkan perbedaan penurunan kadar glukosa pada darah.

Abstract

Kebugaran jasmani yang baik bukan hanya akan meningkatkan performa dalam beraktivitas tetapi juga menurunkan resiko cidera dan menurunkan penyakit kronis yang berhubungan dengan menurunnya aktivitas fisik, seperti hipertensi, penyakit jantung, nyeri punggung bawah kronis dan obesitas. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengetahui gambaran kebugaran jasmani pada mahasiswa fisioterapi STIKES Katolik St. Vincentius a Paulo Surabaya. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif. Subyek penelitian 45 mahasiswa Fisioterapi yang sesuai dengan kriteria inklusi di STIKES Katolik St. Vincentius a Paulo Surabaya. Pengumpulan data dengan kuisioner, pengukuran IMT dan perhitungan indeks kebugaran menggunakan Metode Harvard Step Test. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian penunjukkan kebugaran jasmani mahasiswa fisioterapi sebagian besar berada pada kategori kurang
