Abstract

Abstract: The custom of margondang is commonly carried out in traditional marriages of the South Tapanuli people. Margondang is a ceremony that has noble cultural values. However, the current implementation is inserted with things that erode these cultural values. This study aims to describe the cultural values of the margondang custom and to analyze the law of the implementation of the margondang custom at the wedding ceremony of the people of South Tapanuli. Doctrinal law research with a sociological approach. The results showed that the margondang custom is a means of transforming moral messages such as procedures for forming a happy family in the world and endings. The implementation of the margondang custom in South Tapanuli is not prohibited in the texts or the opinions of the scholars. Based on this provision, the jumhur ulama allows the implementation of traditional wedding ceremonies that are clean from the elements of immorality.Keywords: margondang; music; Islamic law.Abstrak: Adat margondang lazim dilaksanakan dalam perkawinan adat masyarakat Tapanuli Selatan. Margondang merupakan upacara yang memiliki nilai budaya luhur. Namun, pelaksanaannya saat ini disisipi dengan hal-hal yang menggerus nilai-nilai budaya tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan nilai budaya adat margondang dan menganalisis hukum pelaksanaan adat margondang pada pesta pernikahan masyarakat Tapanuli Selatan. Penelitian hukum doctrinal dengan pendekatan sosiologis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa adat margondang merupakan sarana transformasi pesan moral seperti tata cara membentuk keluarga bahagia di dunia dan akhiran. Pelaksanaan adat margondang di Tapanuli Selatan tidak terdapat larangan dalam nash maupun pendapat para ulama. Berdasakan ketentuan ini jumhur ulama memperbolehkan pelaksanaan upacara adat perkawinan yang bersih dari unsur kemaksiatan atau kemunkaran.Kata Kunci: margondang; musik; hukum Islam.

Abstract

In the current era of modernization, equal is often interpreted with meaning in terms of social standing, equal in descendants, and balanced in ownership of property. Based on observations made by the author in Sungai Penuh City, Jambi, several community opinions were found that said equal was equal in social status, descent, and wealth. This is often discussed when someone is about to get married, which is a consideration given by his family, especially his parents are to see prospective son-in-law based on social status, whose offspring, and how many prospective daughters-in-law have property. This study aims to examine in depth the case of an unequal marriage and its impact on household harmony that occurred in Sungai Penuh City, Jambi. The writing of this article uses a qualitative research method using field data in Sungai Penuh City. Data collection methods used are observation, interviews, and documentation. The technique that the author used in this research is to use qualitative analysis consisting of domain analysis, taxonomic analysis, and componential analysis. The results of the study show that there are two views of the Sungai Penuh City community on equal issues in marriage, namely people who are concerned with social status (descent and wealth) and idealistic community views with Islamic teachings.
