Abstract

This article is a conceptual study of cultural elements and contextual evangelism approache according to the paradigm of Evangelical Christians. The research was conducted using a descriptive method built on relevant literature research (or documentary analysis). This study begins with conducting research on the dynamics of theological perception of the gospel and culture. Then proceed with the understanding of culture and cultural dimensions and their correlations which are important to determine the use of these dimensions in a contextual evangelistic approach. The final result of this study shows that the attention to culture in developing contextual evangelism approaches does not mean that the church has to fully adapt or assume there is a harmony between the gospel and culture. Precisely by understanding and utilizing cultural elements in contextual evangelism, it will appear that the gospel has an advantage with regard to the assurance of eternal salvation in the Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, efforts to prepare a contextual evangelist who has integrity, character, and competence regarding the Bible and culture is very important.

Abstract

Artikel ini merupakan Studi Mengenai Implementasi Pendekatan Proses Pembelajaran dan Metode-metode Pembelajaran Pendidikan Kristen Anak Usia Dini. Di dalamnya, peneliti mengungkapkan mengenai pentingnya pelayanan Pendidikan Kristen kepada anak-anak usia dini sebagaimana kepada orang-orang dewasa. Oleh karena Alkitab menyatakan bahwa anak-anak adalah subyek pelayanan dan masa yang menentukan dalam pengenalan akan Tuhan dan pertumbuhan iman menuju masa dewasa. Dalam dunia pendidikan, kategori anak usia dini adalah masa usia emas (golden age) untuk menanamkan nilai-nilai rohani dan pembentukan karakter serta memperkenalkan mereka dengan pengetahuan dan keterampilan dengan sederhana. Studi ini diawali dengan paparan sekilas dalam bagian pendahuluan mengenai hasil kajian Alkitab (hermeneutika Alkitab) mengenai pendidikan anak usia dini, baik dari Perjanjian Lama maupun Perjanjian Baru. Kemudian dilanjutkan dengan paparan sekilas dalam pendahuluan juga mengenai hasil kajian teoritis yang menelaah dengan fokus masalah penelitian dari tesis ini yakni pendekatan proses pembelajaran dan metode-metode pembelajaran terhadap anak usia dini. Adapun penelitian empiris dalam penelitian ini dilakukan pada satuan pendidikan KBTRI dan TK Ceria Terpadu PESAT Wamena untuk memperoleh gambaran mengenai relevansi pendekatan proses pembelajaran dan metode-metode pembelajaran dengan mengumpulkan data-data yang diperoleh melalui pengamatan dan wawancara terhadap dinamika pembelajaran di kelas antara guru dan murid. Adapun penelitian dalam artikel ini dilakukan dengan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus yang dibangun dari penelitian literatur, dalam hal ini literatur mengenai kajian Alkitab dan kajian teoritis yang berkaitan dengan pendidikan Kristen anak usia dini serta penelitian empiris yaitu pengamatan lapangan yang dilakukan dengan metode pengamatan partisipan dan wawancara yang dilaksanakan tahun 2016 pada lokus penelitian. Hasil studi memperlihatkan bahwa pendekatan proses pembelajaran maupun metode-metode pembelajaran PAK yang relevan terhadap anak usia dini tidak sekedar mengikuti teori-teori pembelajaran sekuler yang cenderung menekankan pengetahuan dan ketrampilan seorang guru/pendidik, kurikulum dan bahan pelajaran atau sarana yang canggih serta fasilitas belajar yang memadai melainkan penting sekali adanya dasar-dasar Firman Tuhan (Alkitab) yang menjadi pedoman utama. Hasil studi ini juga memperlihatkan adanya dua pendekatan proses pembelajaran yakni dari golongan interaksionisme dan kategorial yang masing-masing berorientasi kepada anak sebagai subyek pendidikan serta bermacam-macam metode pembelajaran yang menekankan peran anak untuk memahami, menangkap dan mengetahui apa yang hendak diajarkan oleh guru terhadap mereka. Hal ini yang nampak dan efektif dalam penelitian empiris terhadap KBTRI dan TK Ceria Terpadu Wamena, Papua, setidaknya dalam kurun waktu tahun 2016.

Abstract

This article describes the theory of the sociology of knowledge from Peter Berger and Thomas Luckmann which is reviewed in their best-selling book entitled “The Social Construction of Reality:  A Treatise in the Sociology of Knowledge”. The research was conducted by conducting a "book review" on the substance of Berger and Luckmann's ideas about social construction based on reality, especially regarding the construction of knowledge. Berger and Luckmann argue that knowledge as reality is the result of individual struggles in daily life experiences where there is always a dialectic between objective and subjective elements and a dialectic between the dimensions of internalization, objectivation and externalization processes that make meaning in human existence. Thus the sociology of knowledge advocated by Berger and Luckmann includes knowledge as a result of reflection on individual experiences in their environment and community which can also be called "empirical sociology". The relevance of such a theory of knowledge construction provides significance and a foothold for humans as learners and the idea of independent learning.

Abstract

This research is an investigation into traces of the myths and rituals of the Bolaang Mongondow people that shape the reality of their world view. The study was carried out using a descriptive method that was built from diverse and relevant scientific literature research. The results of this study show the components of the traditional culture of the Bolaang Mongondow people, namely the stories of the past and certain traditional ceremonies that shape their worldview concept, including their beliefs that have a background in folk religion with animism-dynamism and traditional social structures which is in the form of a monarchy. This then shapes their world view which continues to influence their attitudes and behaviors even though there have been social changes because time always points forward. Thus it can determine and recommend a complete service approach that is contextual and relevant to Bolaang Mongondow people, both spiritual, social, economic, educational, and so on.

Abstract

This study traces the Inculturation and Acculturation of Bolaang Mongondow Ethnics, one of the social groups in North Sulawesi. The elements of Inculturation studied consisted of History and Social Contexts, while the Elements of Acculturation studied consisted of the attitude of the Bolaang Mongondow People to Openness and Change. This study shows that the Bolaang Mongondow ethnic group has historically originated from the background of traditional societies who have a wealth of cultural arts and then by interaction and influence from outside communities have had an open attitude towards outsiders and change. Thus this study will contribute to and stimulate efforts in a comprehensive service and development approach, both physically, emotionally and spiritually as well as contextually for the Bolaang Mongondow ethnic group

Abstract

This article is a study of relevant learning methods for early childhood, especially those that have been applied to early childhood education units (PAUD) which name is Kelompok Belajar, Beriman dan Bermain dan Taman Kanak-Kanak (KBTRI dan TK) Ceria Terpadu Wamena, Papua in 2016. This study was preceded by a theoretical reference on the multifaceted learning methods of early childhood education. Then followed by the results of empirical research. Theoretical references are built through literature studies, while empirical research uses qualitative methods with descriptive types built with participant field observations and unstructured interviews. The results of the study show that various PAUD learning methods have been applied by teachers KBTRI dan TK Ceria Terpadu Wamena to the students they have mentored. Various learning methods are used by teachers in conveying messages or learning materials, both theory and practice to the students they mentor. Thus the use of learning methods in order to help students to receive all the information or messages conveyed by the teachers according to the learning materials they have prepared well.

Abstract

This study describes the essence and existence of the Bible according to a review of Biblical literature as a result of research by several theologians. The biblical literature and theological perspectives reviewed are from conservative and contemporary circles who were randomly selected by the researchers in this article. This study uses a qualitative method built by the study of literature that is relevant to the research problem. The final result of this study shows that theologians have different perceptions about the essence and existence of the Bible, but in general they have the same thing that the Bible does not just exist but God's intervention to the writers in the context of history, struggles and struggles of their lives and their communities. For this reason, with varying perceptions, all theologians acknowledge the authority of the Bible in their written Biblical literature. The researchers also point out that there are various strengths and weaknesses in the theologians' perceptions of the problem in question. Thus, it will open the possibility for further research in this field, both scientifically and practically.

Abstract

Abstract:This study examines the reality of poverty in certain communities in the third world on the one hand and economic abundance in capitalist societies, especially in the Western world, including Western Europe and the United States. It is well known that socio-historically, the Western world is widely known as the place where Christianity took root and grew there according to Ronald James Sider in his book “Rich Christians in an Age of Hunger: Moving from Affluence to Generosity”. This research is a qualitative research by describing the substance of the book's description which emphasizes the complete Christian concern for every human being and society as taught by the Bible and becomes the principle and practice of the ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ who is the incarnation of God and carries out the work of salvation. Thus, today's Christianity is called to serve marginalized communities as a whole as a form of love and obedience to God in the Lord Jesus Christ. Abstrak:Kajian ini mengulas mengenai kenyataan kemiskinan masyarakat tertentu di belahan dunia ketiga pada satu sisi dan kelimpahan ekonomi pada masyarakat kapitalis, terutama di dunia Barat, diantaranya Eropa Barat dan Amerika Serikat. Telah banyak diketahui bahwa secara sosio historis, dunia Barat dikenal secara luas sebagai tempat kekristenan berakar dan bertumbuh di sana menurut Ronald James Sider dalam bukunya “Rich Christians in an Age of Hunger: Moving from Affluence to Generosity”. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan mendeskripsikan substansi dari uraian buku tersebut yang menekankan kepada keprihatinan Kristen yang utuh kepada setiap manusia dan masyarakat seperti yang diajarkan oleh Alkitab dan menjadi prinsip dan praksis pelayanan dari Tuhan Yesus Kristus yang adalah inkarnasi Allah dan melaksanakan karya keselamatan. Dengan demikian kekristenan masa kini, dipanggil untuk melayani masyarakat marginal dengan utuh sebagai wujud kasih dan ketaatan kepada Allah di dalam Tuhan Yesus Kristus.

Abstract

This article is an ethnotheological study of the substance of Folk Religion as Local Theology of the Tugutil Ethnic in Halmahera Island, North Maluku Province, Indonesia. This study examines and describes the elements of folk religion, namely beliefs about God, humans, sin and salvation as the fundamental beliefs of traditional societies with animism-dynamism patterns. The research was carried out using a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach. The results of this study show that the local theology of the Tugutil ethnicity regarding Jou Ma Dutu as God. He was the creator and owner of the universe; trichotomous human nature o roehe-o gikiri-o gurumini; the human reality that is o baradoha ma nyawa which only causes the instability of the universe and disturbances to the ancestral spirits. Likewise, the concept of salvation they believe in is present and pragmatic, which does not give place to futuristic eternal life. The final result of this study shows that by examining deeply folk religion, the local theology was adopted by the Tugutil ethnic group. It becomes a consideration for implementing sociocultural approaches and contextual ministry, both spiritual and social ministry, for the Tugutil ethnic group as one of the isolated community groups in Indonesia.

Abstract

This article describes narrative criticism as a Scripture hermeneutical method according to a literature review as a result of research by several Biblical theologians. As for the substance of the biblical literature and the theologians' perceptions reviewed, the researchers selected randomly. This study uses a qualitative method built by a literature study that is in sync with the research problem. The final result of this study shows how theologians express their perception of narrative criticism as a method of biblical interpretation that emphasizes the historical story of God's salvation. The final results also show that with various perceptions, all theologians recognize the benefits of narrative interpretation of the Bible as an important part of explaining God's initiative in revealing Himself and communicating with humans. Researchers also point to a variety of strengths and weaknesses in the theologians' perceptions of the research problem. This will provide opportunities and possibilities for further research in this field, both scientifically and practically.
