Abstract

Pelatihan Tour Guide ini dilakukan untuk menumbuhkan kemampuan masyarakat desa wisata Kurau Barat dalam berbahasa Inggris untuk mempromosikan kekuatan wisata yang ada di Desa Kurau Barat. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, perlu dilakukan pelatihan Tour Guide berbahasa Inggris untuk masyarakat desa wisata Kurau Barat. Program ini dilakukan di Desa Kurau Barat, Kabupaten Bangka Tengah dengan peserta berjumlah 15 orang selama 8 minggu. Pengurus Desa Kurau Barat sangat mendukung dengan adanya pelatihan ini. Tujuan dari kegiatan yaitu peserta menerapkan praktik Tour Guide untuk mempromosikan wisata di Desa Kurau Barat. Keberhasilan peserta pada pelatihan ini dilihat dan diukur dari hasil praktik dalam mempromosikan wisata dengan menjadi Tour Guide serta mampu meningkatkan kepercayaan diri dan keberanian dalam mempromosikan wisata desa. Hasil akhir dan saran sesuai dengan evaluasi peserta merasa puas dan bersedia mengikuti kegiatan apabila diselenggarakan pelatihan ataupun kegiatan pengabdian lainnya selama itu bisa memberikan manfaat untuk masyarakat.

Abstract

This research intends to acknowledge the advantages of contemporary online Indonesian folk literature for 21st century learners. The 21st century is a technology era where information can be spread faster and an internet connection is the most important thing to share all the information around the world. It is qualitative research which are aimed at revealing the use of Indonesian folk literature for Indonesian learners which learn English as a foreign language. There is still a lack of research about Indonesian folk literature for 21st century learners; therefore, this research is significant to be conducted. The finding of this research can be described as follows: First, contemporary online Indonesian folk literature is as an instructional media that combine the positive sides of traditional mode such as define, extract and deliver the moral values contain in literary works with technology use to keep, improve and engage the students’ interest to learn English but reminds to keep their culture roots. Second, technology improves the learners to combine the traditional and modern ways of learning. Third, 21st century skills help the learners to be able to compete in this era.

Abstract

This research aims to develop and provide vocational school students with a cultural-based English textbook to understand English better. Based on a mini-interview with some English teachers and observation conducted in some senior high schools in Bangka Belitung, cultural aspect has never been introduced to the classrooms due to their limited teaching timing, diverse textbooks' syllabus, and various learning objectives done. The method used in this study is Research and Development (R&D) by Dick, Carey, and Carey model. The data analysis was conducted quantitatively by the Likert scale. The product is said feasible based on the expert assessments, teachers' evaluations, and students' post-test results. The score obtained from the content expert was 82%, the media expert shares 84.05%, the teachers' evaluations' score was 83.14%, and the students' post-tests reached 78.15, which was higher than the pre-test (67.95). It is summarized that developing a cultural-based English textbook is necessary and immediately necessary. Further researchers are expected to carry out a larger subject scale and include all English aspects in the book's production

Abstract

Background: Biology learning under the Covid-19 pandemic aimed to enhance educators' pedagogical competence by improving thinking abilities and producing results. One of the innovations intended to facilitate environmental learning is the BioEnviroScience App (BES App) for learning environmental science materials, specifically in the sub-environmental changes that occurred in the Province of the Bangka Belitung Islands. This media is integrated with Problem Based Learning (PBL) characteristics to guide the learning, allowing students to obtain learning experiences and make learning meaningful. Methods: This development design uses D&DR, which consists of six stages: 1) identifying the problem, 2) describing the objectives, 3) designing and developing the artifact, 4) testing the artifact, 5) evaluating testing results, and 6) communicating the testing findings. The feasibility test of the produced medium comprises a material, biological, and media specialists and is supported by peer review. A questionnaire was used to obtain data, which was examined quantitatively. Results: The material aspect of the feasibility test received 91.08% in the excellent category, the learning aspect of biology received 85.03% in the excellent category, and the media aspect received 89.08% in the excellent category. Conclusion: BES App deserves to be implemented on a large scale in several high schools in Pangkalpinang City.

Abstract

Penyebaran wabah Covid-19 yang menyebabkan pembatasan aktivitas di luar rumah membuat sektor pariwisata terhenti dalam waktu yang lama. Terhentinya sektor pariwisata dalam dua tahun terakhir ini menyebabkan menurunnya pendapatan masyarakat yang tinggal disekitar objek wisata dikarenakan tidak adanya wisatawan yang berkunjung. Salah satu daerah yang mengalami dampak pandemi ini adalah Desa Batu Itam yang terletak di Kecamatan Sijuk, Kabupaten Belitung, Provinsi Kepulauan Bangka Belitung. Desa ini terkenal dengan hasil olahan lautnya,objek wisata, dan produk UMKM. Faktanya, Desa Batu Itam juga mengkontribusikan 50% sayuran di Belitung. Namun, pemasaran yang dilakukan hanya sebatas produk sayuran segar. Sayuran yang merupakan potensi lokal di Desa Batu Itam ini dapat dikembangkan menjadi suatu produk bernilai jual tinggi. Oleh karena itu, untuk membantu masyarakat di Desa Batu Itam dalam memulihkan ekonomi pasca pandemi, Mahasiswa KKN kolaborasi Universitas Muhammadiyah Bangka Belitung (UNMUH BABEL) dan Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto (UMP) mengadakan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat berupa pelatihan pengolahan sayur menjadi Nugget Sayur. Pelatihan ini diikuti oleh 24 peserta yang terdiri dari kader ibu-ibu PKK, Kader Posyandu, dan Perangkat Desa. Kegiatan pelatihan ini diharapkan dapat menghasilkan terobosan produk kreatif baru di Desa Batu Itam serta memberikan edukasi tentang pentingnya pemanfaatan potensi lokal, pengemasan, dan pelabelan produk.

Abstract

Diphthongs study the sound of language from process to change. This research covers "Blue Jeans" by famous singer-songwriter Gangga Kusuma, who started her career in 2018 with an emphasis on diphthong formation. Researchers choose English diphthongs for this research because it is important to listen to find the correct pronunciation in the learning process. Researchers use Roach's theory to divide diphthongs into two types. First, replace middle diphthongs such as /eɪ/, /aɪ/, /ɔɪ/, /әʊ/, /aʊ/ and second, /ɪə/, /eә/, /ʊә/. This study used a qualitative method and data were collected through a literature search. Analysis of the data revealed that Gangga Kusuma generated 26 examples of English diphthongs divided into 8 types. The diphthong /eɪ/ is used 9 times, the diphthong /aɪ/ is 8 times, the diphthong /ɔɪ/ is used only once, the diphthong /aʊ/ is used 2 times, and the diphthong /әʊ/ is used 5 times, diphthong ɪә/ is used only once, and some data samples are missing the diphthong /eә/ and /ʊә/. In other words, this study shows that Gangga Kusuma can make diphthong sounds that are consistent with those produced in normal diphthong production and the Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary. Furthurmore, it excels at producing a variety of diphthong sounds.

Abstract

TOEFL is one method of measuring English competence and serving as a standard for anyone studying or speaking English as a foreign language. Because the TOEFL is a globally renowned language test that certifies one's English ability, there is a minimum score to achieve in order to complete a certain requirement, such as a support document to apply for a job, institution, or study abroad. It is challenging for almost all Indonesians to attain a minimum TOEFL score. The purpose of this article was to figure out the effectiveness of the TOEFL preparation training program in enhancing students' TOEFL score. This paper gathered information using action research, which consists of four steps: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The TOEFL training program was carried out four times a week for a month, including eight meetings for listening comprehension, ten meetings for structure and written expression, and ten meetings for reading comprehension. The class divided into three classes for each class consisting of 32 students. From the result, it can be seen that there is a significant improvement after the students participated in the TOEFL training program. It showed the students who reach score ≤400 in post-test more than in pre-test and the score increased as expected. On the pre-test, the students who got scores 400-500 was only 3% and after the training was given it increased became 13%. It can be concluded that TOEFL training program not only helps the students to improve their scores but also their comprehension of the TOEFL test

Abstract

Partisipasi aktif siswa/i SMP Muhammadiyah di Kep. Bangka dirasakan masih sangat kurang dalam mengikuti lomba story telling.Maka dari itu perlu diadakannya pelatihan tentang story telling khusus kepada siswa/i dan guru bahasa Inggris di SMP Muhammadiyah se – Pulau Bangka agar kedepannya mampu bersaing dengan siswa/i yang berasal dari sekolah negeri atau swasta lainnya dalam perlombaan story telling. Kegiatan ini juga diharapkan mampu berkontribusi dalam meningkatkat kemampuan literasi siswa. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini berlokasi di 4 (lima) tampat/sekolah, yaitu SMP Muhammadiyah Pangkalpinang, SMP Muhammadiyah Sungailiat, SMP Muhammadiyah Koba, dan SMP Muhammadiyah Muntok. Selama kegiatan workshop, meskipun terkadang suasana kurang efisien dikarenakan terlalu banyaknya siswa di kelas, namun tim pembicara menemukan bakat - bakat baru yang bisa diikutsertakan sebagai peserta lomba story telling. Kegiatan pengabdian seperti ini dapat dilakukan secara rutin oleh pelatih story telling untuk mencari bakat – bakat dari SMP Muhammadiyah. Kegiatan ini dapat dilakukan dengan lebih efektif bila siswa/i sudah fasih berbahasa Inggris dan bisa menghafal cerita berbahasa Inggris. Sedangkan alokasi waktu untuk latihan story telling minimal 2 jam tiap minggu.

Abstract

Peranan Usaha Mikro Kecil dan Menengah di masyarakat yang dapat menjadi agen perubahan dalam membangun perekonomian sehingga diharapkan produktifitas masyarakat menjadi meningkat.  Desa Kulur Ilir  terdapat kelompok UMKM produk kerupuk ikan yang  menggunakan bahan baku yang berasal dari  hasil tangkapan laut dari pantai yang berada di desa tersebut. Selain untuk meningkatkan nilai jual, penggunaan ikan sebagai bahan baku utama mengingat ikan memiliki kandungan protein yang baik juga memiliki cita rasa yang khusus sehingga cocok digunakan sebagai bahan baku utama. Pemasaran produk dilakukan dengan cara menitipkan produknya di warung yang ada di sekitar rumah  dengan kemasan yang sederhana. Dalam menentukan harga jual, para pelaku UMKM belum menggunakan perhitungan yang sesuai sehingga terkadang tidak dapat keuntungan. Oleh karena itu dilakukan pelatihan pengemasan produk, sosialisasi penentuan harga jual dan pelatihan pemasaran produk melalui pembuatan akun di marketplace . Metode pelatihan  terdiri atas tahap observasi awal, tahap persiapan, tahap pelaksanaan, dan tahap evaluasi. Hasil dari pelatihan ini adalah  pelaku UMKM memiliki pengetahuan mengenai penentuan harga jual produk, pentingnya pengemasan produk  dan media promosi sebagai sarana pemasaran produk dapat lebih dikenal dengan harga jual yang sesuai dengan standar ketentuan penetapan harga jual. Harapanya keberlangsungan proses produksi dapat terus berjalan sehingga perekonomian pun dapat meningkat.
