Abstract

Keberadaan Jembatan Penyeberangan Orang (JPO) perlu dievaluasi agar diketahui efektifitas penggunaannya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui seberapa besar nilai efektifitas, tingkat pelayanannya serta kepuasan pengguna Jembatan Penyeberangan Orang (JPO) di Jl. SM Raja dan di Jl. Gatot Subrot. Pengamatan dilakukan dengan menghitung volume penyeberang yang menggunakan Jembatan Penyeberangan Orang (JPO) pada jam sibuk hari kerja dan juga pada jam sibuk hari libur. Data ini digunakan sebagai dasar analisis efektifitas dan penentuan sarana penyeberangan yang tepat. Pengumpulan data juga menggunakan data kuisioner kepada sebanyak 24 responden di Jl. SM Raja dan 23 responden di Jl. Gatot Subroto. Kuisioner berisi pertanyaan yang berkaitan dengan komponen fisik JPO. Hasil analisa efektifitas menunjukkan bahwa Jembatan Penyeberangan Orang yang berada di Jl. SM Raja efektif dengan keterangan sangat bermanfaat dengan persentase 95,65%di hari sibuk kerja dan bermanfaat pada hari libur dengan persentase 72,81%. Hasil analisa efektifitas menunjukkan bahwa Jembatan Penyeberangan Orang yang berada di Jl. Gatot Subroto tidak efektif,atau sangat tidak bermanfaat dengan persentase 12,02% di hari sibuk kerja dan pada hari libur dengan persentase 14,18%.

Abstract

The contract is a very importand document in the project. Contract are seen as laws that must be obeyed, govern and control the rights and obligations between service users and service providers in the project. In world of construction in Indonesia, the standard used for contract documents must be based on Law No.2 of 2017 on construction services as a guide and guidance in constructions activities in Indonesia. In the international world, FIDIC documents has long been recognized, which is a contractual rule that has been used by many countries. FIDIC has also been widely adapted to government and private projects in Indonesia. The first analysis is to identify the contract documents used in several project in North Sumatera region. This analysis shows that the FIDIC red book document is the most suitable document to be used in several project in North Sumatera. The second analysis is comparing the FIDIC document and the analysis shows that the contract document that best matches the points in the questionnaired is Law No. 2 of 2017 on construction services. From the analysis of the previous discussion a conclusion was drawn regarding the philosophy of the work contract discussed was the type of unit price contract based on.

Abstract

Increased development in various regions in Indonesia, especially in the city of Medan, makes many contactors compete with each other in implementing a project. Starting from the time, quality, and cost. However, there are still many contractors who ignore Occupational Safety, Health and Environment (K3L). This study aims to determine the level of application of Occupational Safety, Health and Environment (K3L) in construction projects. Occupational Health, Safety and Environment (K3L) is a program that aims to create a safe, healthy workplace. So that it can reduce the risk of work accidents and occupational diseases as low as possible on the project. The theory used in this study uses quantitative methods that tend to produce descriptive results. The sampling technique was carried out by observation and questionnaire. The instrument used comes from the Minister of Public Works Regulation No. 9 of 2008. This research was conducted on the Cinema Grand Jati Junction construction project located on Jln Perintis Kemerdekaan, Medan The results of the research on the level of application of Occupational Safety, Health, and Environment (K3L) for the Cinema Grand Jati Junction construction project on Jln Perintis Kemerdekaan, Medan amounted to 90.54%. The completeness of K3L facilities in the project was 86.7%.

Abstract

An experiment has been conducted to determine corrosion rate of medium carbon stell with sulfuric acid solution, Aquades 90,2% + H2SO4 9,8% and hydrochloric acid solution, Aquades 96,8% + HCl 3,2%. By using weight loss method, if medium carbon steel dipped into sulfuric acid solution then the corrosion rate is faster than it dipped into hydrochloric solution. If medium carbon steel dipped in a long time than the corrosion rate slowing down.

Abstract

Asphalt mixing plant machine is a tool used to process several materials into road asphalt, where it is necessary to know how to analyze the vibration characteristics of the asphalt mixing plant machine based on the capacity of making asphalt road in horizontal, vertical and longitudinal areas based on the time domain. The research method is carried out by collecting data on the amount of deviation, speed and acceleration that arise due to the processing of several materials so as to produce road asphalt based on differences in the capacity of different asphalt processed. Based on the measurement results, it is found that the highest vibration occurs at the asphalt mixing plant machine seat for a capacity of 60 tons/hour where the magnitude of the deviation is 0.222 mm in the horizontal direction at 100 seconds, the largest velocity is 11.99 mm/s horizontally in the second 40 mm/s and the largest acceleration is 369.7 mm/s2 in the horizontal direction of the 20th second. According to the ISO IS 2372 standard, the vibration of the Apollo ANP-1500 asphalt mixing plant machine enters class IV with a generator capacity above 75 KW, to be more precise (150KVA = 120KW). Then it can be analyzed that the generator vibration falls into the category of "vibration within tolerance limits and is only operated for a limited time" where the highest speed is 11.99 mm/s.

Abstract

In planning a power generation system using waste as an energy source, it is necessary to conduct an initial analysis of the potential local waste available. Not all waste can be used as the source of thermal energy by burning in an incinerator. Therefore, the selection is required to obtain the suitable waste and characterization to determine the potential thermal energy content in the waste. This article aims to obtain the electrical capacity produced from local waste to generate electricity in some regions of the city of Medan. The analysis is carried out on the availability of the waste and its potential for thermal energy generated. The selected incinerator of the fixed bed type with a two-stage air supply was explained comprehensively. Minimum pollution, high thermal conversion, and ease of operation are the critical point considered for the selected incinerator. The results revealed that 50 kWe was generated from a power plant system using waste. This amount of electricity can provide electricity for 25 households in the area where the case is located. This study is expected to provide sustainable waste management to the city of Medan in converting the waste into the household electricity supply.

Abstract

Concrete is the main material for construction which is widely used throughout the world. However, with the increase in the use of concrete from time to time which causes the amount of available resources to decrease and will also disturb the environmental balance, an alternative that can be used to overcome this is to get environmentally friendly concrete which reduces the use of cement utilizing the results of industrial wastes. One of them is the utilization of oil palm shell ash waste. Palm shell ash is expected to be used as an additive to the concrete mixture. In this study, palm kernel shell ash was used as an additive to cement with a mixture of 0%, 3%, 6%, 9% by weight of cement. The number of test objects is 3 cylinders for each variation of the mixture. The type of test carried out is in the form of the compressive strength of the concrete and the observation of the test object is carried out at the age of 7 days, 14 days, 21 days, and 28 days. From the research results, it was found that the increase in the value of the compressive strength of concrete on the variation of the addition of palm shell ash waste as an added material to cement to create quality and environmentally friendly concrete.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the reasons that encourage the reuse of used materials in buildings. The data collection method was carried out by means of a questionnaire survey and interviews with respondents involved in the use of used materials, especially used wood. Respondents consist of used material traders, used material users, building contractors, foremen and building construction contractors who are used material producers. The research was carried out at used building material sales centers in Medan City, which are usually located on Jalan Pahlawan, Medan Perjuangan District, Jalan BrigJen Katamso, Jalan Gagak Hitam, and Jalan Helvetia Raya. Overall there were 10 respondents who participated. This study concludes that the main reason for using used wood materials is related to the price difference between used materials and new materials. Even though the use of used goods has a positive impact on efforts to preserve the environment, environmental conservation considerations have not become an important consideration in the use of used materials in the city of Medan.

Abstract

Drying is a mass transfer and heat transfer process that is strongly influenced by temperature and air velocity. The importance of analyzing the temperature distribution and air velocity is expected to be used as a reference to optimize the drying process to be faster and better. This study aims to analyze the temperature distribution and air velocity that occurs in a coffee bean dryer with a forced convection system using CFD simulation. CFD simulations are carried out using ANSYS Fluent software. with steady conditions, and using a pressure-based solver method. The obtained temperature distribution occurs with an estimated absorber temperature difference with the drying chamber is 31% during the day.
