Abstract

Indonesia is located at the boundaries of three major plate of the world, namely Indo-Australia, Eurasia, and the Pacific Plates. This has made Indonesia prone to earthquakes, so mitigation are needed. The purpose of this research is to determine the empirical relationship between earthquake magnitude and dominant frequency results based on several major earthquake events in Indonesia such as in Aceh 2004, Yogyakarta 2006, Lombok and Palu 2018 as an effort to earthquake hazard mitigation in Indonesia. Magnitude carries information about earthquake power based on the energy released from the hypocenter. Physically, magnitude is related to frequency. The frequency can obtained from earthquake records in time domain which are converted to frequency domain by Fast Fourier Transform method. Earthquake data is obtained from IRIS and uses 89 events with magnitude of 4-9. In Aceh, Yogyakarta, Lombok, and Palu that relatioship between magnitude and frequency are y = -0.053x + 6.2999, y = 0.018x + 4.082, y = -0.0496x + 6.455, and y = -0.0192x + 5.3129. In this research, it can be concluded that the bigger magnitude of the earthquake has smaller frequency. The potential magnitude that appear if the seismicity are low in Aceh, Yogyakarta, Lombok, and Palu are 6.2, 4, 6.4, and 5.3.

Abstract

Agricultural quarantine is the forefront of Indonesia’s natural biodiversity and technical barrier in agricultural    commodities trade. This study aimed to analyze the user behavior of service users in utilizing agricultural quarantine services in relation to supporting the protection of natural resources biodiversity. This study used primary data, with purpossive random sampling as the sampling technique. Multiple regression analysis, Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI), and Structural Equation Modelling(SEM) were carried on this study. Through CSI calculation obtains the CSI value is 78.26% at satisfied range. The result of multiple re-gression analysis test indicated that emphaty, responsiveness, reliability, assurance, and tangible have    significant influence to service user satisfaction. Hypothesis testing using SEM so that it is known that the perception and service quality have significant influence on user behavior characterized by participation and compliance level. By knowing the level of participation and compli-ance of service users is useful in determining and formulating strategies to increase protection of natural resources biodiversity through quarantine action.

Abstract

This study aimed to find out the types of anxiety and defense mechanisms experienced by the main character, Cecilia, in the film (The Invisible Man). The theory used is the theory of Sigmund Freud such as neurotic anxiety, moral anxiety and realistic anxiety, and defense mechanisms such as repression, sublimation, displacement, rationalization projection, reaction formation, denial, and fantasy. The data in this study were taken from the film The Invisible Man (2020) directed by Leigh Whennel. The results of this study found that the anxiety experienced by Cecilia, namely neurotic anxiety (fear unknown danger) and realistic anxiety (fear in face to face in real condition). Thus, the defense mechanism used in reducing anxiety by Cecilia is repression (represses mind to subconscious) and is followed by several other defense mechanisms, namely rationalization (more acceptable), fantasy (imagination), denial (denied accusations), and reaction formation (over protective). What can be underlined in this study is that in the invisible man film, Cecilia as the main character uses a defense mechanism, to reduce the anxiety she experiences.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study aims to find out the illocutionary acts uttered by the characters in the Finding Dory film based on Searle's theory and to identify the function of illocutionary acts uttered by the characters in the Finding Dory film based on Leech's theory. This study was conducted to further discuss how the characters convey the meaning from the utterances or dialogues. The utterances or dialogues convey the meaning that has a function that can turn speech into action. The forms of illocutionary acts represented by the characters in Finding Dory film were analyzed using the illocutionary acts by Searle's theory and also identified the function of illocutionary acts. This study was descriptive qualitative because the data were the utterances of the characters in the Finding Dory film. there were three-step that the researcher followed to complete this study. The first step is for the researcher selected the utterances or dialogues by three characters, which are Dory, Marlin, and Nemo in the Finding Dory film that contains illocutionary acts and categorized them; then the researcher identified the function. The second step is the researcher presented the findings by using the descriptive method. The last step is for the researcher to conclude from the findings. In this research, the researcher reveals that a good conversation can be called successful if each character can understand the meaning of the utterances conveyed by each other. In the Finding Dory film, the researcher found three types of illocutionary acts; they are assertive, directive, and expressive, and thus, the three types of functions of illocutionary acts; are collaborative, competitive, and convivial by the character’s utterances or dialogues.

Abstract

This study is aimed to find out the types and the causes of speech error in the autism character named Arnie in What’s Eating Gilbert Grape? film. The theory used to find out the speech errors of Arnie was Clark and Clark’s theory, they are repeats, false starts, pause, corrections, stutters and slips of the tongue. Words, phrases and sentences in the form of dialogues by Arnie were the data in this study. The research design of this study was qualitative. The results showed the speech errors in Arnie’s utterances were identified into four types namely repetitions, false starts, pause and stutter. The speech errors are caused by cognitive difficulty and social factors which are divided again into situational anxiety and social circumstances. Arnie produced speech errors that were caused by cognitive difficulty that happen because the speaker has autism disorder and there is a problem in his brain to process his speech properly. Furthermore, the social factor, which are situational anxiety factor of speech error happen when Arnie feels anxious and nervous, then social circumstances influenced the speech error when Arnie uncomfortable with his circle.

Abstract

Feminism issues are often radically depicted in literary works, especially in a film today. Filmmakers emphasize these issues to raise women’s awareness about the oppression that might happen to them. This radical movement happens because they try to create an idealistic society for women. From this premise, radical feminism was born because the previous movement could not undo the women’s oppression as time goes throughout the decades. Adjusting to the patriarchal system, women are often portrayed as unique and unusual to be treated as equal to men. This study aims to analyze the radical feminism of Natalie Artemis’ character in Monster Hunter film using Tong’s radical feminism and Petrie and Boggs’ characterization theories. This research used Uwe’s qualitative descriptive method and Mikos’ film analysis theory. The researcher confirms that Natalie Artemis’ character is portrayed as a radical feminist through radical libertarians and radical cultural feminists’ ideas in the Monster Hunter film. These ideas are portrayed through Natalie Artemis’ androgynous appearance and gender portrayal.
