Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan studi kasus yang bertujuan untuk memotret kualitas laboratorium media pembelajaran matematika Universitas Ahmad Dahlan, Yogyakarta. Kualitas tersebut ditinjau dari: (1) fasilitas penunjang laboratorium, (2) program layanan laboratorium, dan (3) pemanfaatan media pembelajaran yang dihasilkan oleh laboratorium. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif yang menggunakan metode dokumentasi, observasi, dan wawancara. Penelitian ini melibatkan lima subjek penelitian yang merupakan pengampu mata kuliah yang memanfaatkan laboratorium dan pengelola program studi sebagai pembuat kebijakan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa fasilitas penunjang laboratorium sudah cukup mampu menunjang kegiatan akademik pada program studi pendidikan matematika. Hal yang perlu ditingkatkan di antaranya adalah bengkel pengembangan media pembelajaran yang dianggap memiliki kedudukan yang paling penting. Terdapat lima layanan laboratorium yang ditawarkan, di mana dua diantaranya berjalan dengan cukup berhasil ditinjau dari aksesibilitas dosen dan mahasiswa, yaitu (1) layanan perpustakaan dan (2) layanan praktikum. Sedangkan dari aspek pemanfaatan produk, media pembelajaran yang dihasilkan oleh laboratorium masih diakses oleh kalangan internal dengan pertimbangan: (1) uji keefektifan penggunaan produk yang belum dilaksanakan, (2) ketahanan produk yang masih harus ditingkatkan, dan (3) banyaknya produk yang dihasilkan masih terbatas

Abstract

Thisreason of this research is most of the students still have difficulties in understanding the concept of fraction. The purpose of this research is to determine the misconception of students using the Certainty of Response Index (CRI) method and the cause of the misconception. Method of this research is descriptive qualitative. Subjects in this research were 27 students of VIIG class at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Yogyakarta in academic year 2016/2017. The research data were obtained from test instrument which multiple choice te using CRI technique to identify student misconception and interview withstudents. Data analysis techniques using Miles and Huberman model, that is data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion.The results showed that 28.89% of studentswho experienced misconception. The location of misconceptions experienced by students occurs in the concept of the relationship between two fractions, changing the fractional shapes, fractions of rank, the multiplication and meaning of the word "of", addition, and division. Misconceptions experienced by students were caused by preconception (initial concept), incomplete or wrong reasoning, false intuition, and student ability.Keywords: Misconception, Certainty of Response Index (CRI), Fraction.

Abstract

Problem solving is one of the 21st century skills which should be masteredby all of students. In a class, every students have different characteristicand intelligent. The aim of this research is to describe the profile of student’s mathematics problem solving based on intrapersonal intelligent. This research used descriptive qualitative approach. The subjects of this study were 3 students of grade 8 of SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Kalasan Yogyakarta which consist of student in high, middle, and low interpersonal intelligent. Technique of collecting data usedquestionnaire, problem solving test and interview. And analysis data usedMilles and Huberman model that is reduction, interpretation and conclusion. The result of this research shown that high intrapersonal intelligent student solved the mathematics problem by Polya’s stage perfectly. While the middle intrapersonal intelligent sudent only able to understand the problem, planning, carring out the plan without looking back the answer when solve mtahematics problem. As for the low intrapersonal intelligent student was less able to solve the problem inevery stage of Polya’s stage. Keywords: Problem solving, Intrapersonal Intelligence

Abstract

Problem solving is the important part of mathematic curriculum. Although, there are many mistakes from the students in mathematic problem solving,especially on counting operation of algebra form. Newman’s error analysis(NEA) is a method that is used to analyze the students error with five stages,there are reading, comprehension, transformation, process skills, and writingthe final answer (encoding). This research aim to know the kind of error thatwas done by the students in solving the counting problem on algebra based onNEA and the influence factors of the error that cause by students. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. The subject is students grade VII-F SMP N 1 Wonosari. The data collecting technique is problem solving test and interview. The data analysis according to Miles and Huberman, which is data reduction, data presentation, and making conclusion. The results of this research showing that the kind of error from the subject research on solving the counting problem of algebra form is error on comprehension the problems, error on transformation question, error on process skill, and error on writing the final answer. The most common error is on process skill stage. It cause the factor because the students are not carefully, can not write the right formula, and false in counting. Abstract

Student is always make basic concept error on some matter in math lesson. Common concept error is called misconception. To identify misconception on students, then used Certainty of Response Index (CRI) technique were developed by Saleem Hasan. In CRI, students are asked to provide a degree of certainty in answering a problem with concept, law, or principles that already understood. This research aim to know whether or not there is misconception and causes of misconception arise in solving the integer count and fractional operation problem based on CRI techniques. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. The subject of this research is students grade VII-F SMPN 1 Wonosari who has misconception. The object research is the student misconception on solving the integer count and fractional operation problem based on CRI technique. The data collecting technique is problem solving test and interview. The data analysis used Miles and Huberman moel, which is data reduction, data presentation, and making conclusion. The results of this research showing that there is misconception from the subject research on solving the integer count and fractional operation problem. The causes of misconception from the subject were the pressure of the practical aspect, the error of the word meaning, and simplification. Abstract

Thinking of geometry according to Van Hiele’s theory consist of 5 levels thatis level of visualization, analysis, informal deduction, deduction, and rigor.While the fast or not in responding to information is influenced by the reflective-impulsive cognitive style. This study aims to find out how the level of students thinking of reflective-impulsive cognitive style based on Van Hiele's theory on rectangular material.This research is descriptive qualitative research. Subjects in this study are 5 students of class VIII E in SMP N 4 Yogyakarta in academic year of 2016/2017 which each 2 students reflective and 3 students impulsive cognitive style. Technique of collecting data used MFFT, test (TBVH) and interview. Data analysis used Miles and Hubberman model.The results showed that the tendency of cognitive style of students is 66.69% reflective-impulsive cognitive style. The level of reflective subject thinking is at the analytical level while the impulsive subject is at the preanalysis level. The reflective subject has been able to give names of the quadrilateralbased on form and apparently and classify the characteristics of quadrilateral. While the impulsive subject has been able to give the names of the quadrilateral based on the form but still unable to classify itscharacteristics perfectly. Abstract

This research was conducted because of the low ability of students to solve mathematical problems. The purpose of this research is to improve students’ problem solving ability of math grade VII semester II of SMPN 9 Yogyakarta in academic year 2016/2017 by using learning model of missouri mathematics project (MMP).This research includes classroom action research which consists of two cycles where each cycle consists of two meetings. Data collection techniques used observation, interviews, and tests. Data analysis was done with a qualitative descriptive analysis.The result of the study shows that learning mathematics using learning model of missouri mathematics project (MMP) can improve the students’ problem solving ability of grade VII of second Semester of SMPN 9 Yogyakarta. The result of analysis from observation sheets in the first cycle in mean percentage of problem solving ability of mathematics included in enough criterion (56,06%), and in the second cycle in good criterion (72,98%). While the results of the analysis of the test scores on the first cycle average percentage of math problem solving skills included in the criteria enough (48.61%), and in the second cycle average percentage of problem solving ability of mathematics included in good criteria (72.06%). Abstract

Geometry is a branch of mathematics that many applications in everyday life, but thestudent’s  understanding of geometry tend to be low. Understanding the conceptof geometry put forward the process of geometric thinking. In Van Hiele's theory,geometric thinking is formulated into five levels of thinking that is level 0 (visualization), level 1 (analysis), level 2 (informal deduction), level 3 (deduction),and level 4 (rigor). This study aims to determine which level of student thinkingbased on Van Hiele theory in terms of reflective-impulsive cognitive style.Thisresearch is descriptive qualitative research. The subjects of the study were thestudents of class VIII E SMP Negeri 4 Yogyakarta consisting of two students ofreflective cognitive style and 3 students of cognitive impulsive style. Techniques ofcollecting data used tests (TLB) and interviews. Research instruments include MFFT to map students 'cognitive and TLB styles to determine students' level of thinking.Data analysis using Milles and Hubermanmodel.The results showed that thestudents' cognitive style tendency was dominated by reflective and impulsivecognitive style that was 69,69%. Based on TLB's written results and interviews show that the reflective or impulsive subjects are at level 2 (informal deduction). This suggests that the different of cognitive style do not cause differences in thinking levels based on Van Hiele's theory.  Keywords: Thinking Level,Van Hiele Theory, Reflective-Impulsive

Abstract

Students creativity in solving mathematical problems is lacking. When the teacher gives the problem, the students just doing as the teacher is example. So if the given problem is different from the already example, the students will have difficulty to solve it. This study aims to improve students creativity using problem posing model on the subject polyhedron.This study is classroom action research wich consistid of two cycles. The subject of this research is the students of class VIII C SMP Muhammadiyah 10 Yogyakarta in academic 2016/2017. The object of this research  is the improvement of students creativity. Data collection techniques such as observation, creativity test, and interview. Technique of data analysis was descriptife qualitative.The result showed that the problem posing method can improve students’ creativity of class VIII C. This can be seen from the average percentage of student observation results 1 cycle of 57,78% with sufficient criteria and in 2nd cycle increased to 83,05% with very good criteria. the average percentage of the results of assessment of student tests on the 1 cycle of 52,78% with sufficient criteria and in 2 nd cycle increased to 75,89 % with good criteria. Keywords: Improvement, Creativity, Problem Posing Model

Abstract

Setiap siswa terlahir dengan karakteristik unik yang melekat pada dirinya termasuk gaya kognitif. Siswa dalam satu kelas tentu memiliki bermacam-macam tipe gaya kognitif. Perbedaan tipe gaya kognitif tersebut dapat menyebabkan perbedaan dalam hal kemampuan matematika. Salah satu kemampuan dasar matematika yang harus dimiliki oleh seorang siswa adalah kemampuan koneksi matematika. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan profil kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Gamping kelas VIII yang bergaya kognitif Reflektif-Impulsif dalam menyelesaikan soal Geometri. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 2 orang siswa kelas VIII SMP Muhammadiyah 1 gamping yang masing-masing bergaya kognitif refleksif dan impulsif. Adapun penentuan gaya kognitif siswa menggunakan Matching Familiar Figures Test (MFFT). Teknik pengumpulan datanya menggunakan tes kemampuan komunikasi matematika (TKKM) dan wawancara. Analisis data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan model Milles dan Huberman. Sedangkan untuk mendapatkan data penelitian yang konsisten digunakan triangulasi waktu. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dalam mengerjakan masalah yang diberikan subjek Reflektif memiliki kemampuan koneksi matematis yang lebih baik dari pada subjek impulsif. Subjek refleksif mampu mengenali dan menggunakan hubungan antar ide-ide dalam matematika, memahami bagaimana ide dalam matematika saling berhubungan dan membangun satu sama lain untuk menghasilkan suatu kesatuan yang utuh, mengenali dan mengaplikasikan matematika ke dalam lingkungan di luar matematika. Sedangkan subjek Impulsif belum sepenuhnya mampu mengenali dan menggunakan hubungan antar ide-ide dalam matematika, belum menunjukkan bahwa ia memahami bagaimana ide dalam matematika saling berhubungan dan membangun satu sama lain untuk menghasilkan suatu kesatuan yang utuh. Lebih lanjut lagi, Subjek Impulsif belum sepenuhnya mampu mengenali dan mengaplikasikan matematika ke dalam lingkungan di luar matematika.
