Abstract

Menghapal dan menjaga hapalan teks membutuhkan encoding strategies, salah satunya adalah visual imagery. Keterampilan tersebut diharapkan membantu proses encoding teks ke dalam penyimpanan visuospatial working memory.Kapasitas working memory adalah sejumlah informasi yang dapat disimpan dalam pikiran dan digunakan dalam mengeksekusi tugas–tugas kognitif (Baddeley, 2003, Cowan, N, 2014).Corsi block tapping task digunakan untuk menilaivisuospatial working memory (Trick, Mutreja, Hunt, 2011). Emosi positif dapat meningkatkan working memory (Katzir, Tal Eyal, Nachshon Meiran, and Yoav Kessler, 2010; Yang, H., Yang, S., & Isen, A. M, 2013; Storbeck, J., & Maswood, R, 2016). Tujuan penelitian untuk melihat bagaimana emosi positif dapat meningkatkan kapasitas visuo-spatialworking memory pada remaja penghapal Qur’an. Desainpenelitian menggunakan true experiments denganWiththin-Subject Group Designs (pretest–posttest). Tayangan humor “Waktu Indonesia Bercanda (WIB)” episode 29 Januari 2017 digunakan untuk menginduksi emosi, SAM (SelfAssessment Manikin) scaledigunakan untuk mengukur keadaan emosidanCorsi block-tapping testdigunakanuntuk mengukurkapasitas visuo-spatial working memory. 46 remaja(26 laki-laki, 20 perempuan) penghafal Qur’an di pesantren Al-Hikmah Bogor dengan rentang usia 11-15 tahun. Berdasarkan uji Wilcoxon diperoleh hasiladanyaperbedaanskor visuo-spatial working memory task untukpre testdanpost test, sehinggadisimpulkan pula bahwa ada pengaruh induksi emosi positif terhadap kapasitas visuo-spatial working memory.Dopamin mengaktifkan bagian hipokampus sehingga informasi yang disimpan dalam memori mampu bertahan dan dapat melakukan recall informasi tersebut (Chowdhury, 2012).  Kata Kunci : Corsi Block Tapping Task, Visuo-Spatial, Working Memory, Emosi, Remaja

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menginvestigasi apakah pemenuhan kebutuhan psikologis dasar memediasi pengaruh teacher autonomy support terhadap engagement. Responden dalam penelitian ini 213 siswa SMA (Wanita=126, 59.2%; M = 87, 40.8%). Usia responden antara 15-18 tahun dengan mean 15.41 (SD=0.53). Alat ukur yang digunakan adalah kuesioner Autonomy support, Feeling I Have  dan Engagement. Data dianalisis dengan uji regresi berganda. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan pemenuhan kebutuhan psikologis dasar memediasi pengaruh teacher autonomy support terhadap engagement. Implikasi dari temuan ini bahwa guru harus menyadari bahwa setiap siswa memiliki kebutuhan psikologis dasr yang dapat dipenuhi oleh perlakuan guru berupa autonomy support dan hal ini akan membentuk engagement siswa terhadapa aktivitas belajar di kelas.Keyword Teacher autonomy support, Pemenuhan kebutuhan psikologis dasar, Engagement

Abstract

Writing an undergraduate thesis is a formidable task, especially in Indonesia where writing is not engrained in its culture. Therefore, this study aims to explore the internal and external factors in writing an undergraduate thesis. A qualitative research design was used. Phase 1 used an online questionnaire (n= 143) to find encouraging and obstructing factors. Phase 2 used an in-depth interview (n = 48) to validate findings from Phase 1. A general inductive approach was used to analyze data. Phase 1’s findings were students’ perceptions about undergraduate thesis and categories of encouraging and obstructing factors in writing a thesis. Writing undergraduate thesis was more driven by external factors (e.g.deadlines, others' expectations) than by internal factors. Neglect of writing the thesis, however, was caused more by internal factors (e.g. lack of knowledge and skills, doing other activities). Phase 2’s findings validated phase 1’s findings which consist of 11 encouraging and 8 obstructing factors.Keywords: Undergraduate thesis performance, undergraduate research,   writing a thesis, university students, qualitative exploratory study

Abstract

A teacher’s motivating style toward students is an important educational construct. Teacher-provided autonomy support benefits students and teachers themselves. Students who receive autonomy support from their teachers experience greater autonomus motivation and classroom engagement. For teachers, they experience greater teaching efficacy and vitality during teaching. Autonomy support is the interpersonal sentiment and behavior the teachers provide to identify, nurture, and develop students’ inner motivational resources. The purspose of this study is to obtain an overview of autonomy support in teachers of Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) X Jatinangor. The design of this study is explanatory sequential mixed method. The quantitative data were obtained from 37 teachers of MTs X Jatinangor who completed The Problems in School Questionnaire (PIS) to explain teacher’s orientation toward motivating students. The sampling methods in quantitative approach is saturated sampling. The qualitative data were obtained from interview with 6 teachers of MTs X Jatinangor regarding teacher’s motivating style and the causes influence teacher’s controlling style during learning activities. The sampling methods in qualitative approach is purposive sampling. The results showed that 36 teachers (97,3%) have moderately autonomy supportive orientation and 1 teacher (3,7%) has highly autonomy supportive orientation. Therefore, most of the teachers in school MTs X Jatinangor implement autonomy support and controlling motivating style during class. The causes of the teacher’s controlling style are that teachers harbor the dual burdens of responsibility and occupy an inherently powerful social role.

Abstract

Abstract. Engagement in learning activities is important to get the knowledge and skills provided at school. Previous studies on engagement prove that engagement is a predictor of student learning, learning outcomes, student retention and graduation. Therefore, to be able to make students more engaged with learning activities, it is necessary to know the factors that can influence the engagement. In this study, we will examine the effect of fulfilling need for autonomy, competence and relatedness on behavioral and emotional engagement. Measurements were made by distributing questionnaires in the form of self-reports to respondents. Respondents from this study were 291 students of class VII and VIII MTs Jatinangor. The data analysis technique used is PLS-SEM, path analysis. The results showed that behavioral and emotional engagement were positively and significantly influenced by meeting the needs of competence and relatedness. Then it was also found that this engagement was influenced negatively and significantly by autonomy needs.

Abstract

Mahasiswa tahun pertama seringkali dihadapkan dengan berbagai perubahan, salah satunya tuntutan akademik. Beberapa tahun terakhir, kebijakan MBKM mulai direalisasikan oleh seluruh perguruan tinggi, sehingga mahasiswa baru akan mengalami perubahan yang berbeda dengan mahasiswa sebelumnya Oleh karenanya, penyesuaian diri yang memadai dalam menghadapi tuntutan dan kebutuhan akademik diperlukan agar proses pembelajaran tetap dapat berjalan dengan optimal. Salah satu aspek yang mendorong pengembangan penyesuaian akademik pada mahasiswa adalah keyakinan mereka akan kemampuan dalam menghadapi tantangan akademik tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran academic self-efficacy terhadap academic adjustment pada mahasiswa tahun pertama di program Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka Fakultas Psikologi Universitas Padjadjaran. Partisipan merupakan mahasiswa Fakultas Psikologi angkatan 2021 yang ditentukan dengan secara acak dengan proses simple random sampling (N=109). Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian noneksperimental. Pengukuran menggunakan alat ukur penyesuaian akademik yang dikembangkan berdasarkan konsep academic adjustment menurut Schneider (1964) dan alat ukur academic adjustment oleh Budiman et al. (2017). Analisis uji korelasi Pearson dan regresi linear berganda dilakukan dengan aplikasi IBM SPSS Statistics versi 23. Hasil menunjukan bahwa academic self-efficacy secara signifikan berperan terhadap academic adjustment pada mahasiswa tahun pertama program MBKM Fakultas Psikologi Universitas Padjadjaran. Upaya yang dapat dilakukan untuk membantu mahasiswa mencapai penyesuaian akademik di antaranya adalah memfasilitasi mahasiswa untuk mengembangkan keyakinan yang kuat terhadap potensi diri, komitmen untuk menyelesaikan tugas serta pandangan positif kemampuan dalam bertindak secara efektif.
