They were students from Mandarin Department of Bina Nusantara University, Jakarta, Darma Persada University, Jakarta, and North Sumatera University, Medan. A cooperation on deciding research instruments was collaborated with Faculty of Tionghoa Language and Literature of Huaqiau University, China. Descriptive analysis was done to explore students’ main motivation in learning Mandarin, continued by different tests to know the different motivation between native and descending students. Research results indicated that the motivation in learning language is low; there is no significant difference between integrative and instrumental motivation. Also, there was no motivation significant different between chinese-descending dan non-chinese students in learning Mandarin. Abstract

This research is set to determine the cause of late childhood smoking and whether the factor behind late child hood smoking is the same with teenagers. The background of this research are the findings of Tobacco Control Support Center that 3 out of 10 students are found to be smoking before reaching the age of 10. This research uses qualitative case study research through observation and in-depth direct interview towards 3 male subjects aged 11 who smokes every day. Results show that the 3 subjects smoke due to personal factor, friends, family and cigarette advertisements. Most of the factor behind the smoking behavior are found to be in the sociogenic motive category. Therefore, it could be concluded that the smoking behavior of the 3 subjects is not purely from the personal factor, but more of the environmental factor having big part in creating smoking behavior in the 3 subjects. Factors behind smoking behavior of the three late childhood subjects and teenagers have a lot in common. Friend factor is the first driving factor of smoking behavior on both late childhood and teenager.

Abstract

Batik is not only an element of culture and art, but it has creativity. Batik also has the message how to manage our emotions, because in making batik takes perseverance, optimism, cognitive function as well as patience. The aim of this research was to examine the relationship between creativity and emotional resiliency in students grade 4-6 elementary school. Subjects were students of MI Giriloyo 2 Yogyakarta grade 4 to grade 6, which amounted to 62 students. Data retrieval is done by spreading the figural creativity tests to measure creativity variables and emotional resilience questionnaire to measure the variables of emotional resilience. Subjects showed a fairly good creativity with emotional resilience pretty good anyway. Bivariate product moment correlation with SPSS 19.0 for windows between creativity with emotional resilience correlation values obtained at 0.184 and p = 0.153. Research shows that the zero hypothesis (H0) which states "There is no significant relationship between creativity and emotional resiliency in students MI Giriloyo 2 Yogyakarta" accepted while the alternative hypothesis (Ha) which states "There is a significant relationship between creativity and emotional resilience MI students Giriloyo 2 Yogyakarta? had rejected. Thus, the results showed no relationship between creativity and resilience significant emotions in students with extracurricular student-MI batik Giriloyo 2 Yogyakarta with a very low correlation coefficient. Other variables were not examined by the authors, such as internal and external factors correlated with the subjects supposedly more emotional resilience.

Abstract

This research is to acknowledge causes why drug users in late adolescent, who had followed drug recovery program in drug rehabilitation centre, are relapsing at the time they came back to subject environment. This research?s background is supported with the increasing numbers of drug addictive users in Indonesia, especially in adolescent. The result of this research showed an uncondusive situation, such as conflict with parents (father) when they got back to house environment, causes they are coping maladaptive, i.e. relapse. Conflict with father causes adolescent has negative perception towards social support from the father, and it effects their religious orientation and locus of control. For future research, it is suggested to do quantitative research so it can be gained measurable result statistically.

Abstract

The research investigated the relationship between effortful control and emotional reactivity in students. It also analyzed the description of each variable descriptively based on the levels of effortful control and the level of emotional reactivity. The method was by self-report through questionnaires distributed to students aged 18-30 years. There were 357 participants that were consisting of 94 male students and 263 female students. The measuring instrument was the Effortful Control from the Adult Temperament Scale Questionnaire (ATQ) Scale-Short form, and the Perth Emotional Reactivity Scale-Short Form scale. The result shows that there is a positive significant relationship between effortful control and positive emotional reactivity. However, the research shows that there is a negatively significant relationship between effortful control and negative emotional reactivity. It states that students with high levels of effortful control have high positive emotional reactivity. Likewise, students who have low levels of effortful have low positive emotional reactivity. However, individuals who have a high level of effortful control have low negative emotional reactivity and vice versa.

Abstract

Emosi positif dapat meningkatkan working memory (Katzir, Tal Eyal, Nachshon Meiran, and Yoav Kessler, 2010; Yang, H., Yang, S., & Isen, A. M, 2013; Storbeck, J., & Maswood, R, 2016).
