Abstract

Listening is theway to catch information accurately and the way to know what is the messages about in the process of communication. It means that the students here are be able to interprete what the speaker say.The way to listen is to pay attention to sound or action.In fact, in learning procesess, teaching listening faced some difficulties for the students. One of the reasons is as foreign language. Therefore, the writer tried to use one of methods in teaching listening. Such as: the audio lingual method.This method is very important to know, especially: how the principles of this method, what is the goals for the teachers and students, how about the roles for the teachers, how is the feelings of the students using this method, etc. In addition, to face those problems, this articleexplained some solutions to make the students more interesting in learning listening.

Abstract

Listening Comprehension is a process to know about what the speakers talk about to get some information and knowledge. The purpose of this study was to know how and why the students learn listening skill in the new normal era. In fact, there were some problems faced to the students as long as they learn and work from home. For examples, they don’t have mobile phone, andno internet access for communication. Therefore, the teacher should more creative to teach the students, especially in learning listening comprehension. In this study, the roles of learning listening would be discussed with some various ways from the simple to the complete one. Hopefully, all of them could help the students to learn easyly, and then the teacher could improve their ways to teach the students by following the rules in this study.

Abstract

Reading is an interaction between a reader and a piece of text. Reading is easy to do by some people but in fact, study about readin is difficult. Therefore, the teacher should choose one of the methods to make students interesting in reading. Therefore, this paper highlights the advamtages of mind mapping in teaching reading. As addition, in this context that reading will be used by using mind mapping then it can be designed by pictures, circles or boxs after reading the text depend on the ways of thinking and the creativity in create it.

Abstract

the current issue of significant concern that many countries define literacy as the ability to read and/ or write simple statement in either a national or native language. In fact, the learning of English literacy has been developing in many definitions by different opinions and different countries in the world. Some researchers reported the understanding of being and becoming literate must be shows how variants of it into policy discourse. This paper highlights the significance of concept mapping in reading literacy. Abstract

Listening English is a challenging for the teachers of English. The teachers have to study hard, focus to listen, think and describe what the speakers talk about, practice listen and listen again, learn how to improve their listening skill, and transfer their knowledge for the students. In this case, the writer gives information for some strategies in teaching listening for EYL (English Young Learners). In addition, the teacher can use the strategies to teach the students. These strategies can inspire teachers to teach and students to learn. They actually can improve their listening skill if they want to study, practice more and more in their daily life. Besides, EYL means to focus in Elementary school students. The teachers of English teach listening for EYL by giving some strategies in learning process. If the EYL hard to listen, the teacher have to motivate, give spirit to students, and never give up to learn. It is because listening skill is very important not only for today but also forever in life. Hopefully, all of these strategies will be useful for EYL, teachers of English, another researchers, and others. Mendengarkan Bahasa Inggris merupakan sebuah tantangan bagi para guru Bahasa Inggris. Guru harus belajar giat, fokus mendengarkan, memikirkan dan mendeskripsikan apa yang dibicarakan pembicara, berlatih mendengarkan dan mendengarkan lagi, belajar bagaimana meningkatkan keterampilan mendengarkan, dan mentransfer pengetahuannya kepada siswa. Dalam hal ini, Penlulis memberikan informasi tentang beberapa strategi dalam pengajaran mendengarkan untuk EYL (English Young Learners). Selain itu, guru dapat menggunakan strategi untuk mengajar siswa. Strategi-strategi ini dapat menginspirasi guru untuk mengajar dan siswa untuk belajar. Mereka sebenarnya dapat meningkatkan keterampilan mendengarkannya jika mereka mau belajar, berlatih lebih banyak, dan lebih banyak lagi dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Selain itu, EYL artinya fokus pada siswa Sekolah Dasar. Guru bahasa Inggris mengajarkan mendengarkan EYL dengan memberikan strategi dalam proses pembelajaran. Jika EYL sulit untuk mendengarkan, guru harus memotivasi, memberi semangat kepada siswa, dan pantang menyerah untuk belajar. Hal ini karena keterampilan mendengarkan sangat penting tidak hanya untuk saat ini tetapi juga selamanya dalam kehidupan. Semoga semua strategi ini bermanfaat bagi EYL, guru bahasa Inggris, peneliti lain, dan lain-lain.

Abstract

Reading is one way to enable students and teachers to broaden their horizons in thinking and behaving. The more you read, the better you will be in all your actions in daily life. In this case, the writer gives information for some methods of teaching reading comprehension for English Second Languagu (ESL). Therefore, the teachers can use the methods when they teach about reading. Hopefully, these methods will not only make the studensts but also Eglish teachers enthusiastic in learning reading comprehension. Besides, this ESL focus to junior high school students. The teachers of English teach reading by giving some methods in learning process. Moreover, the writer gave questionnaire for the students to know about the condition in their class. The result of questionnaire showed that 52.9 % students like to study and 52.9% like to read English. Therefore, in this case, the teacher of English should give high motivation and introduce the method of learning English, especially Readiing comprehension achievement. In order, the students will love to read in English more.

Abstract

The topic of this study is “The use of pictures to improve the writing skills of eight grade students of SMPN 1 Makarti Jaya Banyuasin”. This discussion of this lesson is to answer the question of is there a significant improvement between students learning to use pictures learning to use pictures and not to use picture?In this study, researcher used quansi experiments using pre test and post test. The population is eighth grade,especially grade 8.1 and 8.5. One of the classes used as the experimental class is class of 8.5 and the control class is class of 8.1.     The use of media image to improve students writing skills is applied to the experimental class, namely class of  8.5. While the control class does not use images. Each class held treatment and the research lasted for 16 meetings with different pictures at each meeting.From the results of the pretest and post test that have been carried out, the researcher gets the maximum result, namely the valueon the pretest 72% to 78% in the post test. Before holding the post test with the same picture,students were given treatment for 14 meetings. From the results of this study, this means that the use of images can improve students writing skills. The data collection was carried out using the SPSS application.
