Abstract

ABSTRACT Education quality is important for those who are involved in that school either directly or indirectly such as principle, headmaster, teacher, staff administration, students, parents and etc. A case study was used to get the overview about the quality management in school’ management at SMA Negeri 1 Subang based on the school’ accreditation grade A. Quality Management (QM) was employed as an approach in analyzing and characterizing the school’s quality management. The purpose of study was to identify the criteria, standards and indicators in management of school, to get the overview how to get the good quality in education based on the school’s accreditation A. Quality Management will be focused in analyzing management of the school. The result illustrated that QM can be used as an approach in analyzing the quality of education. There are seven indicators that should be achieved in quality management; curriculum, achievement, learning and teaching, students’ support, school’ ethos, resources and management, leadership and quality assurance. Quality of education organized by the member of school and it should contribute each other between principle, headmaster, staff administration, teacher, students and parents. Principles and criteria used based on Quality Management that there should be the process of plan, do, check, and act continuously. Thus, quality management in education should be designed cooperatively in the members of the school and as an evaluation it should be monitored continuously. Abstract

Learning English has its own challenge for Junior High school students in Indonesia. One of the ways to cope with the challenges is by enhancing students’ affective factors such as self-confidence, language ego, risk-taking willingness, and connecting with first language culture. However, researches on these types of affective factors are insufficient thus the researchers were interested to conduct research on the topic. The current study was implementing the narrative qualitative method, where EFL teaching activity was observed. It intended to analyze the teachers’ effort to develop EFL students’ affective variables. The EFL class observed the 9th grade of a private junior high school in West Java which was involving one EFL teacher and 29 students. The research shows that teachers did give favor the development of students’ affective variables as many as 32% from the lists observed. However, it is not sufficient, not programmed, and not systematical. The researchers suggest the educators systematically enhance students’ affective factors in the classroom setting. For further research, it is recommended to conduct research related to the effective factors with broader scopes and samples. Abstract

Penurunan perekonomian masyarakat terjadi pada masa pandemic COVID-19. Penjualan online (E- Commerce) menjadi alternative untuk memperbaiki perekonomian masyarakat dimasa pandemic COVID-19. Terlebih lagi perkembangan teknologi berkontribusi dalam kehidupan manusia. Penjualan online dengan memanfaatkan perkembangan teknologi menjadi penghubung antara penjual dan pembeli secara daring sehingga dapat mencegah penyebaran virus COVID-19. Namun tidak semua masyarakat mengetahui kelebihan dan cara berbisnis online sehingga banyaknya masyarakat tidak bisa produktif pada masa pamdemi COVID-19 dan perlu dilakukan sosialisasi serta pelatihan penjualan online. Permasalahan tersebut ditemukan kepada masyarakat warga RT/RW 005/004 Desa Sukaharja, Kecamatan Sindang Jaya, Kabupaten Tangerang yang dilaksanakan melalui kegiatan Kuliah Kerja Kemasyarakatan (KKK). Kegiatan pengabdian dilakukan oleh mahasiswa melalui kegiatan Kuliah Kerja Kemasyarakatan Dari Rumah (KKK-DR) pada tanggal 24 Agustus 2020 – 12 September 2020. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan dilakukan dengan melakukan observasi terlebih dahulu. Lalu, penulis melakukan program kerja Pelatihan Edukasi Penjualan Online dalam rangka membantu pemerintah daerah dan masyarakat setempat. Hasil kegiatan menunjukan bahwa masyarakat setempat yang menjadi mitra kegiatan memiiki potensi dalam mengolah dan memproduksi sebuah produk camilan namun produk tersebut hanya untuk konsumsi pribadi saja dikarenakan masyarakat masih belum mengetahui cara-cara berjualan secara online. Mitra diberikan pelatihan dan sosialisasi melalui media whatsApp grup mengenai hal-hal penting dalam pembuatan merek camilan, mencantumkan berat bersih produk, daftar bahan yang digunakan, cara memasarkan produk secara online melalui media sosial, dan cara mengelola modal usaha, dimana semua materi yang diberikan dibuat dalam bentuk gambar/pamphlet yang mudah dipahami oleh masyarakat. Masyarakat mampu mengimplementasikan materi-materi yang diberikan untuk membuat sebuah produk dan bisa menjadi salah satu sumber penghasilan yang mampu membantu perekonomian rumah tangga khususnya dan umumnya membantu negeri terhindar dari resesi ekonomi pada masa pandemic COVID-19.

Abstract

Masuk dan menyebarnya virus COVID-19 di Indonesia memberikan dampak yang signifikan pada kehidupan. Untuk mencegah penyebaran, pemerintah menerapkan pembatasan social di seluruh wilayah Indonesia. Hal tersebut menjadi permasalahan utama dalam pelaksanaan kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM). Kuliah Kerja Kemasyarakatan Dari Rumah (KKK-DR) merupakan program kuliah yang ditujukan kepada mahasiswa untuk dapat terjun dilingkungan masyarakat dan berkontribusi dalam membantu menemukan atas permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh masyarakat tertentu. Melalui program KKK-DR, kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM) dilakukan oleh mahasiswa. Analisis situasi dilakukan untuk mencari permasalahan apa yang dihadapi oleh masyarakat khususnya di wilayah RW.06 Kelurahan Tigaraksa. Permasalahan tersebut yaitu kurangnya pemahaman mengenai protokol kesehatan yang benar pada masa pandemi COVID-19, rendahnya antusias masyarakat untuk melakukan vaksinasi COVID-19, beberapa masyarakat yang diberhentikan dari pekerjaan dan tidak dapat menjalankan usaha karena sepi nya pengunjung, dan rendahnya pengetahuan mengenai pola hidup sehat dimasa pandemic. Oleh karena itu, metode pelakasanaan kegiatan PKM yaitu dengan cara memberikan pengarahan dan pendampingan. Berdasarkan permasalahan tersebut, terdapat 4 kegiatan inti yang dilakukan serta terdapat beberapa mitra yang ikut berkontribusi, salah satunya yaitu Fimel Hijab dalam memberikan pelatihan UMKM kepada masyarakat di RT 005 RW 06. Hasil kegiatan menunjukan hasil yang positif dimana peningkatan kesadaran masyarakat mengenai bahaya dan pencegahan COVID-19 semakin meningkat, beberapa masyarakat menjadi ikut serta dalam melakukan vaksinasi dan beberapa masyarakat ikut serta dalam melakukan UMKM bersama Fimel Hijab.

Abstract

As the part of 21st century skill, beside ICT competence, critical thinking skill is important to be trainned. This research was conducted to analyze and explore critical thinking skills and ICT competences in the learning activities of GE syllabuses. Principally, critical thinking skills is categorized as Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) that is discussed in Anderson and Krathwohl’s Taxonomy Cognitive levels. A content analysis method was employed in this study. The data was analyzed by using a systemic content descriptive text based on the Framework from ACER’s Critical Thinking Skill Development, UNESCO ICT-competences framework (2018), Anderson and Krathwohl's Taxonomy's cognitive levels and ACTS21S framework descriptors. 8 syllabuses of General English were analyzed from 6 private and 2 public university in Banten and West Java area. The existing syllabuses were collected to investigate how far Critical Thinking skills and ICT-competences foster into the learning activities stated in the syllabuses. The findings illustrated that critical thinking skills throughout full syllabuses were insufficiently incorporated with learning activities. Dominantly, the 1st strands of Knowledge Construction fostered in syllabuses by 76%. Besides, in HOTS level, the analyse level (75%) was dominantly integrated in the learning activities by stating the action verbs such as Menganalisis, Menentukan, Menguraikan, Membedakan. Then, ICT-competences was employed in the learning activities as media and tools to support teaching and learning activities such as to access relevant material through internet device (website), to support learning activities by using hardware and software. The result also illustrated 5 procedures in fostering critical thinking skills and ICT competences in learning activities in syllabuses.

Abstract

The analysis on teachers’ instruction as a micro-learning has been widely investigated by previous researchers. These researches need to be continued forward by analyzing other aspects in teaching such as the involvement of learning media and blended learning model. Therefore, the aim of this study is to analyze the teachers’ instruction in higher education in accordance with the utilization of learning media in the context of blended learning model. By employing qualitative approach of descriptive analysis, this research examined 5 samples of blended classes’ instruction, including two online synchronous learning, one offline synchronous learning and two online asynchronous learning. These samples are observed and transcribed, and analyzed, to highlight the specific instruction on the classes. Meanwhile, the employment of learning media was gathered using interview to the teachers. The result of data analysis found that various teachers’ instruction can be implemented in both synchronous and asynchronous class of blended learning context to support students centered learning. Meanwhile, slide show, Zoom, G-meet, LSM are the media that often used. Moreover, blended learning can support the students centered learning as good as the offline learning. This finding contributes to the student-centered approach implementation which in line with the 21st century learning model.

Abstract

Era informasi saat ini berkembang pesat karena kemajuan teknologi, sehingga guru dan siswa harus memiliki kemampuan abad 21, termasuk cara berpikir dan kompetensi TIK. Masyarakat saat ini harus mampu mengakses, menyerap, memahami, dan mengevaluasi informasi dengan benar. Pengabdian masyarakat ini dilakukan untuk membekali para guru, terkait pengetahuan dan kemampuan untuk mengintegrasikan keterampilan abad 21; Cara Berpikir dan Kompetensi TIK dalam perangkat pembelajaran seperti integrasi keduanya ke dalam RPP, dan kegiatan belajar mengajar di kelas. Pelatihan guru dilakukan sebagai metode pengabdian masyarakat dengan 30 guru berpartisipasi dalam kegiatan ini. Guru di SMP Garuda di Kota Tangerang merupakan mitra PKM. Hasil dari kegiatan tersebut menunjukkan bahwa para guru setuju bahwa siswa saat ini perlu memiliki cara berpikir dan kemahiran TIK dalam menghadapi era abad 21, dan melalui pengabdian masyarakat ini membantu para guru meningkatkan profesional mereka untuk mengatasi kesulitan abad ke-21 dalam pendidikan. Salah satu strategi untuk meningkatkan profesionalisme guru di abad 21 adalah dengan mengikuti pelatihan tentang pengembangan dan pengintegrasian Kompetensi TIK dan kemampuan berfikir ke dalam proses belajar mengajar. Guru diharapkan memahami cara membuat indikator cara berpikir, indikator kompetensi TIK, dan mengetahui cara memasukkan keduanya ke dalam perangkat pembelajaran sehingga guru dapat mendukung siswa menghadapi kesulitan pembelajaran di abad ke-21.

Abstract

Kemampuan berbicara (Speaking Skills) dengan menggunakan Bahasa Inggris menjadi sebuah keharusaan di masa saat ini. Mitra dalam kegiatan pengabdian ini yaitu SMPIT Asy-Syukriah Kota Tangerang pada peserta didik kelas X. Metode pelaksanaan pengabdian dilakukan dengan beberapa tahap yaitu (1). Melakukan need analysis atau analisis situasi dengan cara Forum Group Discusion dengan pihak sekolah, need analysis juga dilakukan kepada beberapa peserta didik untuk merumuskan masalah tersebar yang dihadapi oleh peserta didik. (2) Melaksanakan pengarahan yang dilakukan di hari pertama saat pembukaan dan ketiga saat penutupan, (3). Melaksanakan pengajaran kepada peserta didik dengan memfokuskan meningatkan kepercayaan diri peserta didik dalam berbicara Bahasa Inggris yang dilakukan selama tiga hari. Kegiatan pengabdian dilakukan pada tanggal 24-26 Agustus 2022. Hasil kegiatan menunjukan bahwa kegiatan mendapatkan respon positif dari peserta didik dan hasil rata rata dari pretest (70.58) dan post test (85.00) menunjukan hasil yang baik dan mengalami peningkatan dalam membangun kepercayaan diri pesertda didik dalam berbicara Bahasa Inggris.

Abstract

Technology advancement, including YouTube, enables various media easily integrated into the teaching and learning process and supports the students’ digital media literacy. However, in the implementation, some teachers find difficulties in engaging the students’ interest in using YouTube to support the teaching and learning process. This study was conducted to investigate why YouTube is considered the prominent media in Sekolah Alam Cikeas to engage students’ interest in English learning. A case study was used to analyze the phenomenon while questionnaires and interviews were used in collecting the data. Likert scale was used to analyze the data by using 5 aspects. The result illustrated Strongly Agree as the dominant answer from students. YouTube can help them in learning English and it plays a useful and meaningful role in the learning process. Most of the students agree that the usage of YouTube in the classroom is appropriate and can engage students’ interest in learning English in the classroom. Besides, YouTube also can help students to train in digital media literacy. Thus, YouTube is one of the media that supports students’ interest to engage in the learning process.
