Abstract

The unbalanced load in electric power distribution system always happen and it is caused by single phase loads on low voltage system. The effect of the unbalanced load is appear as a neutral current. These neutral current cause losses, those are losses caused by neutral current in neutral conductor on distribution transformers and losses caused by neutral current flows to ground. In conclusion, when high unbalanced load happened, then the neutral current that appear is also high.

Abstract

Abstract

A modern control of electric motor’s speed in an industry  needs a variable direct voltage. The variable direct voltage can be supplied by semiconductor devices such as SCR. The output voltage of a SCR rectifier depends on the delay angle of the SCR. The aim of this research is to make a SCR rectifier circuit and applying it for observing the characteristics of a shunt direct current motor. The result shows the circuit can work to demonstrate the shunt motor characteristics.   Keywords : Rectifier ciscuit, Three phases, Shunt motor, Characteristics.

Abstract

The predictive torque control (PTC) technique of electric motor drive is based on the principle that the determined optimum voltage vector will be applied to the motor in the next cycle. If a three-phase inverter is used, this inverter can only realize eight different switching states. One of the eight switching states is used as the optimum inverter switching state for the next cycle. PTC with one-step prediction cannot obtain an experimental motor speed control, because in the real-time implementation, there is a single sampling delay between input and optimal actuation due to a large number of real time calculations. The delay time problem could be solved by modifying the optimization steps by using the two-step prediction of PTC model. The experimental results show that the motor can follow the reference speed and command torque in the step response and variable speed experiments. In variable speed experiment, good speed and torque dynamics can be achieved by selecting the proportional gain value that corresponds to the motor speed
