Abstract

Cervical cancer is the second most common cancer after breast cancer is most often foundin Indonesian women and can be prevented by detecting the IVA examination. The purposeof research to analyze the relationship of information media and perception of women ofchildbearing age to IVA examination in work area of Public Health Center of Kuok Year2017. This research type use analytical research design with cross sectional design.Sampling technique using systematic random sampling with the population of 914 peopleand the number of samples 90 women of childbearing age. The instrument used is aquestionnaire. Of the 90 respondents, there are 6 (6.7%) of people who perform IVAexamination. Result of bivariate analysis based on chi square test there is a verymeaningful relationship between information media with IVA examination with p value =0,036 (<0,05) (OR = 7,882) and there is very significant relation between perception withexamination of IVA with p value = 0,013 (<0.05) (OR = 14,091). It is hoped that healthworkers themselves will conduct early detection program of cervical cancer so that thepatient can be detected before it becomes acute and for the next researcher can continuethis research with different variables.Keywords: Information Media, Perception, IVA Examination

Abstract

Onions (Allium cepa L) contain essential oils which contain sulfur in the form of isothiocyanates or thiosulfinates which are known as antibacterial and antifungal. The aims of this study was to determine the antibacterial activity and minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC)of essential oils from onions (Allium cepa L) against Pseudomonas aeruginosa. This research was an experimental study using the Kirby-bauer method using discs. The results were obtained by concentration of 20%(C1), 10%(C2), 5%(C3), 2,5%(C4), 1,25%(C5), 0,625%(C6), and 0,312%(C7) provide the inhibition with an average diameter are 14,94 mm, 14,17 mm, 13,62 mm, 12,97 mm, 11,97 mm, 9,11 mm and 0 mm. From this research it can be concluded that essential oils from onions (Allium cepa L) can inhibit the growth of Pseudomonas aeruginosaand the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of essential oils from onions (Allium cepa L) against Pseudomonas aeruginosawas at a concentration of 0,612% (C6) with an average diameter of 9,11 mm.

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Bawang bombay (Allium cepa L.) memiliki kandungan minyak atsiri yang mengandung komponen sulfur dalam bentuk thiosulfinates yang diketahui memiliki aktivitas antibakteri. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menguji aktivitas antibakteri minyak atsiri bawang bombay (Allium cepa L.) terhadap pertumbuhan bakteri Staphylococcus epidermidis dan mengetahui Konsentrasi Hambat Minimum (KHM). Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental dengan metode difusi Kirby-bauer menggunakan media agar Mueller Hinton Agar (MHA). Kertas cakram steril ditetesi dengan 10 µL minyak atsiri bawang bombay (Allium cepa L.) menggunakan mikro pipet konsentrasi 40%, 20%, 10%, 5%, 2,5%, 1,25%, 0,625% 0,3125% dan 0,156% dan kontrol negatif. Konsentrasi tersebut di bagi dalam 2 cawan petri, dalam satu cawan terdapat 5 sampel. Kedua media diinkubasi pada suhu 37 ? selama 24 jam. Hasil: Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh pada konsentrasi 40% (M1), 20% (M2), 10% (M3), 5% (M4), 2,5% (M5), 1,25% (M6), 0,625 (M7), 0,3125% (M8) dan 0,156% (M9) memberikan daya hambat dengan diameter rata-rata 11,18 mm, 10,2 mm, 8,97 mm, 8,46 mm, 7,68 mm, 7,48 mm, 7,24 mm, 6,88 mm dan 0 mm. Kesimpulan: Dari penelitian disimpulkan bahwa minyak atsiri bawang bombay (Allium cepa L.) dapat menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri Staphylococcus epidermidis dan KHM minyak atsiri bawang bombay (Allium cepa L.) terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus epidermidis yaitu konsentrasi 0,3125% (M8) dengan diameter rata-rata 6,88 mm.
