Abstract

Perkembangan motor sebagai alat transportasi telah mengalami perkembangan yang cukup pesat dari awal motor ditemukan sampai sekarang. Hampirsemua orang di kota-kota besar bahkan di pedasaan pernah mengalami berada diatas motor selama hidupnya, baik orang tua maupun muda. Karenabanyaknya penggunaan motor, maka muncullah beberapa komunitas yang pada akhirnya tidak hanya menggunakan motor sebagai alat transportasi,namun juga dijadikan sebagai bahan untuk saling berbagi cerita dan juga sebagai artifak dari beberapa kultur pop. Namun, sayangnya belum adasebuah sumber literatur mengenai motor dan subkulturnya. Sebuah sumber yang tepat dan akurat dibutuhkan untuk meminimalisir social failures yangditimbulkan oleh kultur pop yang tidak terarah dan tidak berdasar. Karena itulah dibutuhkan sebuah sumber literatur berbentuk buku untuk parapenggemar motor dan juga pelaku kultur pop motor.

Abstract

Representational symbols of religious identity are open resource of meaning. Instead of reconstructing meaning, interpretation is a recollection of cultural traditions. Therefore, disputes over symbols occur because of conflicting values, perceptions, and worldviews. However, cultural traditions are not static dogmas preserved in religious cultural memory. They are dynamic because they are also influenced by contemporary relations between groups. This paper argues for the fluidity of construction meaning of symbols and the role of social interaction and synthesize two ideas. First, Roland Barthes' view on a social semiotic approach to representational symbol will be raised. Second, the idea of symbolic interaction that meaning is a social construction, defined through interactions between collectives, and manifested in the form of actions following interpretations that arise within the subject of meaning. Finally, the author will formulate a recursive semiotic model as a synthesis of the two discussed approaches. The fluidity of meaning will appear through the definition and redefinition that occur in the recursive process. The conclusion to be drawn is that social relations are the key to the formulation of symbolic meaning.

Abstract

AbstractThe public sphere is a meeting space. Various identities meet and interact. Each carries its pattern: instrumental-hierarchical, strategicmonological, or mutual-communicative. Equality in the last pattern is the basis for building relationships that are oriented towards realizing common goals which are formulated from the synthesis of ideas. This research shows that there is a gap between the idea of inter-particularities equality and the tendency of the respondents to prioritize group identities over efforts to create common welfare. This gap can be traced back to the design of the lectionary sermon which found a lack of discussion on the themes of the public space. Therefore, the author proposes analternative paradigmatic model that integrates all personal dimensions into the global-public dimension. A participatory approach that raises experiences in the context of community life is used as a starting point to mobilize the active participation of the people in testing the sermons relevance in the public space. AbstrakRuang publik merupakan ruang perjumpaan. Berbagai identitas bertemu dan berinteraksi. Masing-masing membawa polanya: instrumental-hierarkis, strategis-monologis, atau mutual-komunikatif. Kesetaraan dalam pola terakhir merupakandasar untuk menjalin relasi yang berorientasi pada upaya mewujudkan tujuan bersama yang dirumuskan dari sintesa gagasan-gagasan. Penelitian ini menunjukkan terdapatnya kesenjangan antara gagasan kesetaraan antarpartikularitas dengan kecenderungan umat responden yang mengutamakan identitas kelompok di atas upaya mewujudkan kemaslahatan bersama. Kesenjangan tersebut selanjutnya dirunut kembali pada rancangan khotbah leksionari dan dijumpai minimnya pembahasan mengenai tema-tema ruang publik. Oleh sebab itu, penulis mengusulkan sebuah model paradigmatik alternatif yang mengintegrasikan seluruh dimensi personal ke dalam dimensi publik global. Pendekatan partisipatori yang mengangkat pengalaman dalam konteks hidup bermasyarakat dipergunakan sebagai titik tolak guna memobilisir partisipasi aktif umat dalam mengujicobakan relevansi berita mimbar di ruang publik.
