Problem-based learning is a learning approach that uses complex problems as a trigger in learning process of students. The aim of this study was to obtain the pattern of information literacy skills in the problem-based learning process in medical students of Riau University. This study uses design of qualitative research with collection of sample with snowball sampling method .Data collection was done by depth interview method. The result of this study shown that informans Informans have the ability of understanding the need of information, have the ability to acces information effectively but haven’t been efficient, and haven’t the ability to evaluate the source of information yet. Keywords: Information Literacy, Problem-Based Learning, Medical Students

Abstract

Kata kunci: Hepatitis B virus, anti-HBs, HBsAg, tenaga kesehatan, faktor risikoRISK FACTORS FOR TRANSMISSION OF HEPATITIS B VIRUS INFECTION IN HEALTH CARE WORKER OF PEKANBARU CITYHepatitis B is still the one of serious public health problem in the world including Indonesia. Transmission of hepatitis B virus (HBV) is strongly associated with use of contaminated blood products. For many people infected with HBV, risk factors of transmission are unknown. We examined risk factors for acquiring HBV in health care worker. This research was done by retrospective to blood participants who tested positive for HBs antibody or HBs antigen, using a questionnaire.participants divided into 2 groups. Had/having exposed to VHB with ati-HBs Positive HBsag negative or HBsag positive, anti-HBs negative and never had exposed to VHB with HBsag and anti-HBs negative. Positive anti- HBs were identified in 32 (29.1%) of 110 participants. Positive HBs antigen anti-HBs negative was identified in 1 (0.9%) of 110 participants. In questionnaire analysis, significant risk factors for HBV infection among HBs antibody - positive participants were tooth extraction in 29 (90.6%), and needle stick injuries in 18 (56.2%) of 32 participants. Only 3 (9.3%) of 32 participants with HBs antibody - positive had history of post infected HBV for several years ago. In 1 participant with HBs antigen - positive, significant risk factors were needle stick injuries, acupuncture, tooth extraction, and contact infected person. The most significant risk factors for transmission of hepatitis B in health care worker in Pekanbaru city are tooth extraction and needle stick injuries.Key words: Hepatitis B virus (HBV), HBs antibody, HBs antigen, health care worker, risk factor DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.15395/mkb.v41n3.245

Abstract

Toxoplasma metabolism effect can rise the dopamine production which aggravate the simptoms of schizophrenia. Some of the research reports that patients which diagnosed with schizophrenia with positive IgG Toxoplasma need longer duration of treatment and may relapse. This study was conducted by cross sectional method on 51 patients with first episode schizophrenia, including acute and temporary psychotic disorder, in Tampan Mental Hospital – Pekanbaru. IgG anti-toxoplasma were detected on the patients at the first treatment in 2019, and then the length period of treatment and the recurrence frequency were monitored in the first year of the course of the disease. From the chi square test result, we can conclude that there’s no effect of IgG Toxoplasma on the duration of treatment on the first episode schizophrenia patients as well as the recurrence frequency which monitored in the first year course of the disease (p>0.05). There’s no effect of IgG Toxoplasma on the duration of treatment on the first episode schizophrenia patients as well as the recurrence frequency.

Abstract

Infertility is influenced by many factors, one of them is reactive oxygen species (ROS) containing free radicals. Freeradicals can be neutralized by antioxidants. Watermelon (Citrullus vulgaris Schard.) contains compounds with strongantioxidant activity so that protect the spermatozoa from the toxic effects of ROS. The purpose of this research was todetermine the effect of watermelon juice to the number of spermatozoa’s mice exposed by cigarette smoke. Its designwas the post test only, while the subjects were 20 male mices, which divided into five groups were baseline, K(-), P1,P2 and P3. This experimental study lasted for 14 days. On the 15th day, all mice were terminated and the number ofspermatozoa was examinated. One way anova test showed significant differences of spermatozoa count between groups(p=0,000). Based on post hoc test there were significant differences between group of baseline with K(-) and P1,between group of K(-) with P2 and P3, and between group of P2 with P1 and P3. This study showed that watermelonjuice increased the number of spermatozoa in mice exposed by cigarette smoke and dose 0.32 ml/day gave the besteffect.
