Abstract

In this topic research was provided about the backpropagation neural network to detect fault location in transmission line 150 kV between substation to substation. The distance relay is one of the good protective device and safety devices that often used on transmission line 150 kV. The disturbances in power system are used distance relay protection equipment in the transmission line. However, it needs more increasing large load and network systems are increasing complex. The protection system use the digital control, in order to avoid the error calculation of the distance relay impedance settings and spent time will be more efficient. Then backpropagation neural network is a computational model that uses the training process that can be used to solve the problem of work limitations of distance protection relays. The backpropagation neural network does not have limitations cause of the impedance range setting. If the output gives the wrong result, so the correct of the weights can be minimized and also the response of galat, the backpropagation neural network is expected to be closer to the correct value. In the end, backpropagation neural network modeling is expected to detect the fault location and identify operational output current circuit breaker was tripped it. The tests are performance with interconnected system 150 kV of Riau Region.

Abstract

Solar photovoltaic generation system is a very promising type of renewable energy, particularly when it is implemented in the tropical country like Indonesia where it receives a huge amount of sunshine. Solar photovoltaic generation system can be utilised to supply power for different types of consumer, namely utility grids, industrials as well as household. This article discusses the effect solar radiation to the photovoltaic module with different slope angles namely; 300, 400 and 500 respectively. It was used a 100 Wp solar module in the research. It is not only the slope angle of module analysed in this article but also the weather condition such as: sunny or cloudy conditions. The performances of solar photovoltaic at temperature ranging from 280C to 500C are analysed significantly. The results showed that the above conditions affected the voltage generated by solar photovoltaic system. Finally, the results of this test will be compared with the simulation results of photovoltaic system modeling using Matlab/Simulink.

Abstract

The power transmission system is essential for the power scheme to transfer the energy from generators to consumers. The short circuit problem repeatedly occurs in the transmission system, and the main problem is to separate the sources from users. This research has applied two hybrid techniques to predict fault location. The first hybrid technique has involved the Discrete Wavelet Transformation (DWT) and Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS), while the second hybrid technique is for DWT grouping and Support Vector Machine (SVM). These hybrid techniques are intended to estimate the fault location of each fault category in a transmission system. The DWT was applied to both D8 and D9 level at the 50 kHz sample frequency. The root mean square (RMS) values of the D8 and D9 coefficients were used for training using ANFIS and SVM techniques. After that, ANFIS and SVM were utilised to detect faults in the phase and ground lines. Several types of fault have been simulated, i.e. fault location, fault resistance, and original point of view. The RMS results from the two hybrid techniques were compared to find the best results. The tests of error estimation were performed for the three bus systems. The comparison of error estimation of the two methods shows that both hybrid techniques can be applied to predict fault locations.
