Abstract

Ride comfort on the highway often interrupted because drivers need to adjust the vehicle speed. Safe distance between vehicles should be maintained is the main reason. The situation of monotonous and high speed will increase the risk of accidents on highway. A device is required by the driver to adjust the vehicle speed during the long distance (cruise) driving on highway without neglecting the safety aspects. The device is known as Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC). The ACC is a subsystem of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADASs) that serves to assist the driver during cruise driving. The working principle of the ACC is the vehicle speed set automatically so that the distance to the vehicle in front remains safe. This paper presents the development of fuzzy logic controller for ACC. The fuzzy inference method used in this study is Mamdani. The result from hardware simulation that using remote control car shows that the fuzzy logic controller can work according to the design.DOI:http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ijece.v4i6.6734

Abstract

Detection of air bubbles in the blood is important for various medical treatments that use Extracorporeal Blood Circuits (ECBC), such as hemodialysis, hemofiltration and cardio-pulmonary bypass. Therefore a reliable air bubble detector is needed. This study presents the design of a new fault tolerant air bubble detector. Triple Modular Redundancy (TMR) method is used on the sensor section. A voter circuit of the Triple Modular Redundancy will choose one of three sensor outputs to be processed further. Application of Triple Modular Redundancy will prevent errors in the detection of air bubbles, especially if the sensor fails to work.

Abstract

 In today’s world, people depend more on the WWW information, including professionals who have to analyze the data according their domain to maintain and improve their business. A data analysis would require information that is comprehensive and relevant to their domain. Focused crawler as a topical based Web indexer agent is used to meet this application’s information need. In order to increase the precision, focused crawler face the problem of low recall. The study on WWW hyperlink structure characteristics indicates that many Web documents are not strong connected but through co-citation & co-reference. Conventional focused crawler that uses forward crawling strategy could not visit the documents in these characteristics. This study proposes a more comprehensive traversal framework. As a proof, CT-FC (a focused crawler with the new traversal framework) ran on DMOZ data that is representative to WWW characteristics. The results show that this strategy can increase the recall significantly.

Abstract

Part of speech (PoS) is one of the features that can be used to improve the quality of statistical-based machine translation. Typically, the language PoS determined based grammar of the language or adopt from other languages PoS. This work aims to formulate a model to developing PoS as linguistic factors to improve the quality of machine translation automatically. The research method using word similarity approach, where we perform clustering of the words contained in a corpus. Further classes will be defined as PoS set obtained for a given language.We evaluated the results of the PoS that defined computational results using machine translation system MOSES as the system by comparing the results of the SMT are using PoS sets generated manually, while the assessment of the system using BLEU method. Language that will be used for evaluation is English as the source language and Indonesian as the target language.

Abstract

Airline ticket reservations can be completed via ticket counters or online. To reduce passenger data redundancy, Single Identity (SI) may be required to input passenger data. In Indonesia, SI is utilised in identity cards using Near Field Communication (NFC), called electronic Kartu Tanda Penduduk (e-KTP). However, the use of e-KTP is not optimal yet because it is still used in the same way as the conventional one. Data input using SI can be done by tapping the e-KTP on a NFC-enabled machine, and the user is required to select the passengers’ names. The process of data input may be simplified, resulting in a higher transaction speed. This research result demonstrated that there was a slight difference of the time required between the two methods for ticket reservations. The time efficiency using SI through ticket counters was 48%, while the online reservation using SI was 45%. Further research may implement the validation methods, such as using PIN or fingerprint.

Abstract

Accidents due to cross the lane (lane departure crash) of achieving 19% of all accidents. These accidents mostly caused because the driver is not concentrating or dozing. A device that can help the driver so that the vehicle does not exit lanes known as Active Lane Keeping Assist (ALKA). ALKA is a subsystem of Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) and is now used in several brands of cars namely Audi, BMW, and Ford. ALKA useful to help the driver, especially on roads with monotonous situations such as toll roads. This paper presents the development of fuzzy logic-based algorithm for ALKA. A battery toy car is used as a hardware simulation to test the algorithm in real time situation. The test results at three different speeds are slow, medium,   and   high   indicate   that   the   algorithm   can   work according to design.

Abstract

An increase in transactions in airports is in line with a growing number of airline passengers, thus, a system which can enhance the service may be required. One of the concerns related to airline services is the long time for transactions due to the time required for each transaction and the number of transactions for each passenger. One of the transactions which require long time is the check-in process. In addition, the conventional check-in process also requires paper which its use is rapidly rising due to the increasing number of passengers. Hence, an NFC (Near Field Communication)-based system can be applied to accelerate transactions and to reduce the use of paper. Transactions in airports require several documents including booking reference and passengers’ identity cards, and both of which can be digitally stored in an NFC device. This study revealed that the implementation of SI could accommodate the check-in process in airports and decrease the redudancy of passenger data.

Abstract

The popularity of public transportation has increased as infrastructures have been repaired and other supporting facilities have been added. One of the facilities which can be added in the transportation system is the implementation of Near Field Communication in order to accelerate each transaction in the transportation system. In airports, transaction activities need to be done efficiently, like claiming baggage at the baggage carousel. The speed of transaction to claim the baggage depends on the number of officers, passengers, and the amount of baggage brought by the passengers. In the conventional system, the most effective way of getting the maximum speed of transaction is to have officers as many as the number of passengers, but this is not efficient regarding the use of human resources. The use of Near Field Communication can solve the problem related to the efficiency of resources, safety, and the increasing speed of transaction.
